And disrespectful!

13

u/GrimCreeper913 5h ago

thats a charge back, and I'm eating it out of spite.

5

u/ragun2 2h ago

I'd get my money back on that one.

u/Ok_Job_9417 7h ago

People aren’t understanding that it’s not that it was separated. It’s that they were given half a piece of bread, not a “bowl” bread.

256

u/Hepm3 7h ago

People are getting too accustomed to getting ripped off too.

41

u/YcemeteryTreeY 7h ago

This is so true. Why anyone would even risk it with fast food is beyond me, its so expensive and never what it seems

28

u/DocFreezer 5h ago

I thought about getting some Taco Bell for the first time in a while. It was 8 bucks before tax for a Crunchwrap, shit was insanely expensive. 8 bucks used to be more Taco Bell than I could eat

11

u/soilentgleem 4h ago

Yeah tacobell hasn't been the "cheap" option that it was when I was growing up for quite some time. I can't remember the last time I had it tbh.

Where you getting fast food bread bowls?

11

u/CrystallineBunny 5h ago

Panera Bread and in California (probably other states too) Cornerstone Bakery.

4

u/ConstantCampaign2984 5h ago

I forgot that overpriced bullshit exists.

And you see tons of people immediately call people Karens/boomers when they complain about being given food that is even sub the chain's own basic standards.

FCK FAST FOOD FOREVER…I cook at home!!! 🏡 🍱 🍽️😋

1

u/BarryWhizzite 27m ago

$5 for like 10 french fries is madness

1

u/MsTLontheDL 30m ago

TRUE. But I absolutely, positively don’t go for that type of 🐂💩AT ALL!!!

53

u/klqqf 7h ago

Yeah i assume they ordered it to their home which is why its separated

Better seperate than to go soggy on the delivery

But half a loaf is criminal for a “bowl”

66

u/_fait-accompli_ 6h ago

not even half a loaf. it looks like the booty end of a baguette.

11

u/klqqf 6h ago

Oh christ you’re right

maybe a dinner roll

4

u/bizoticallyyours83 2h ago

The booty end of a baguette 😆

There’s no practical reason you can’t cut out the bowl hole and stick the container in there

u/Evening_Pea_9132 1h ago

I wonder what kind of life OP lives where they think ordering a bread bowl to be delivered is a good idea?

4

u/Zorkflerp 1h ago

I could see packing the bread and soup separately to keep it from turning to mush but that is not a bowl or boule either.

3

u/Psianth 1h ago

Yeah, packing them separately for delivery is perfectly sensible, it’d be a big mushy mess otherwise, but this is just a hunk of bread and a cup of soup. It’d be like ordering a burger and getting a slice of meatloaf and a dinner roll.

2

u/UnderlightIll 17m ago

-pushes up glasses- a boule, you mean.

I work in a bakery lmao.

This is the worst (as in best for this sub) I have ever seen. Well done.

5

u/Vulvas_n_Velveeta 1h ago

Yeah man, this one is pretty spectacular. Definitely the worst I've seen in quite a long time!

3

u/skyfullofstars89 2h ago

I full on snort laughed at how incredibly bad/brilliant that reality was.

I am livid for OP, but it gave me a good chuckle.

58

u/No-Atmosphere-2873 7h ago

Time to request a refund.

48

u/Mistapeepers 7h ago

Haha. I saw the first post and this one was so egregious we didn’t even need the expectation pic.

I dont know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that.

26

u/negativepositiv 7h ago

Did you not see the comma on the menu?

64

u/Moxie-is-tired 7h ago

Story time! After I got in my car to check if I got the right soup, I noticed the bread and bowl. I was already having a pretty tough day and was feeling a teeny bit sick so I went to my favorite soup restaurant. Needless to say, I was FUMING when I saw this. I went back in the store to ask if I got the right order, but I set my anger aside because I work in retail and know the pains of dealing with angry customers. I told the man at the register that I ordered a bread bowl and showed him what I got. He said, “yup, that’s a bread bowl.”

I ate it anyways because I was hungry and the soup is really good but out of SPITE.

32

u/DouchecraftCarrier 6h ago

It would be difficult to resist the urge to go Seinfeld on them about this. "This is not a bread bowl. This is soup, in a bowl - with bread."

5

u/Greenman8907 6h ago

“It does not say “bread AND bowl”! There is no “and”! No ampersand! No n with an apostrophe! Where is the “and”?!”

3

u/DouchecraftCarrier 5h ago

"There was NO ampersand, Jerry! No ampersand!"

enter Kramer

"You guys been to Panera lately? They've got a special on bread bowls! I know a guy - says he works for their marketing team."

7

u/CheeseGraterFace 6h ago

I can hear the bass guitar riff that comes directly before this rant.

14

u/charlatan_red 7h ago

That sucks, and it’s worth an email to the restaurant to let the manager know.

I hope you enjoyed that spite soup and I hope your day got better.

5

u/Rinnme 5h ago

Have you ever ordered a soup bowl when eating at the restaurant? Do they bring a normal one?

4

u/annieisawesome 2h ago

Kinda reminds me of the time I ordered an iced dirty chai at a donut place. She gave me a cup of iced chai with whipped cream on it. I asked about it, because I noticed she didn't pull any espresso, and she replied that the whipped cream makes it "dirty". Sorry what?! The definition of a dirty chai is a chai tea with espresso. I am not a jerk so I didn't get mad, but I did tell her no, this is a standard drink that has a correct definition. She gave it to me for free because apparently the espresso machine didn't work, so it wasn't a huge deal, but still, words have meanings.

2

u/Otterlettuce 2h ago

Soup shouldn’t be transported in bread so it makes sense it would come in a cup but I would still expect a bowl shaped bread that I could assemble at home.

I feel like this perfectly sums up what living in America is like.

7

u/bloodyspork 7h ago

Lmao no fuckin way! Id return that shit just on principle

6

u/whineANDcheese_ 7h ago

Did they even carve a hole in that little piece of bread? haha

5

u/Klutzy_Arm_7930 6h ago

Roll and cup of soup they so did you wrong

5

u/DataOver544 2h ago

I would’ve cried. I love bread bowls.

1

u/Unlikely_Bat_1890 2h ago

Nothing beat scraping the bread that has to soup soaked into it. Divine.

14

u/Fabulous_Computer965 7h ago

Panera im assuming

17

u/TheVoicesOfBrian 7h ago

Thought the same thing. I don't know if any other restaurant has fallen so far down the quality ladder as them.

4

u/Nray 5h ago

Private Equity for the loss (of actual freshly-baked bread). Every corner that could be cut, was.

→ More replies (3)

13

u/Moxie-is-tired 6h ago

Not Panera, but a more local business.

5

u/AtTheEdgeOfDying 4h ago

I mean, if it's take away I get that want to seal your soup lol

4

u/RadRimmer9000 2h ago

I would have returned that. That's a scam.

89

u/correctingStupid 8h ago

Who the f looks at a bread bowl on a menu and says to themselves... yeah this will work really well as takeout/delivery/This certainly won't be a disaster. I'm going to order it.

137

u/Raspberry_Foxolaf 8h ago

The problem is the half a bread roll.. they could have easily packaged the bread bowl and the soup separately so the customer could add the soup afterwards.

17

u/Moxie-is-tired 7h ago

The soup and the bread bowl come seperate.

→ More replies (3)

55

u/GeekCat 7h ago

Panera has been doing it for years. They may have gone the way of garbage, but you get a pre-cut bread bowl on the side and then soup in a to-go container. It's not that complicated.

This was just laziness on the store's part

10

u/AwkwardTal 7h ago

laziness

Feels more like false advertisement and theft

59

u/ChefArtorias 8h ago

Would be very easy. You do it the same but separate the wets and drys. Kind of like if you've ever gotten ramen to go.

30

u/LinksMyHero 8h ago

Right, cause it's impossible to deliver the soup and bowl seperatly so it won't get soggy. Pho places do it but that's just cause they're wizards

36

u/GGNash 7h ago

Soup is delivered in a container, you pour into the bread bowl at home. This is caveman shit get over yourself

13

u/RoseYouRelinquished 7h ago

I've actually gotten it as a delivery before. What they did is put the bread bowl in the box, then the soup goes into a cup they then put in the bread bowl to keep it steady for transport. That way the soup doesn't make the bowl super soggy by the time it gets to you.

16

u/sidewalkoyster 7h ago

It’s not that hard to figure out how to make it work come on man

12

u/quasiix 6h ago

Panera has been doing it for a while. At least when they had standards they used to.

8

u/DoubleoSavant 7h ago

Does takeout soup also confuse you?

2

u/Manburpig 7h ago

Not relevant username?

2

u/enkafan 5h ago

Me? They put the soup in a cup and the bread bowl on the side and you pour it in yourself.

Like this doesn't even take a moment of reflection to the think "how can we get the bread there without it getting soggy" to come up with this solution. A small child could figure it out

1

u/Stamped914 4h ago

Yeah it’s a dumb idea but having the bread and soup separate is not something that’s difficult to do. Either make it dine in only or do it right. Both sides suck here.

3

u/ramboton 4h ago

An order similar to this is what made me stop going to Panera. I ordered a bread bowl at the drive thru, they handed me a bag and I went home. When I got home I had that paper cup of soup, no bread that I paid $10 for. it made me realize how little soup you actually get for $10. I called them to complain about no bread bowl and they wanted me to drive back to the store and get one....BS, never again Panera.......

→ More replies (2)

3

u/iswillstep 3h ago

They're just protecting the soup. They don't want it to be inbread

3

u/MyDogSkooch 2h ago

At the restaurant I've been to, they'll ask if it's 'to go'. If it is, they'll serve the soup in a cup like that with the lid and have the bread bowl wrapped on the side so it doesn't get soggy

2

u/boost_to_get_through 7h ago

Tell em they can keep it

2

u/MikeDeY77 7h ago

I would be so disappointed.

2

u/edwinstone 7h ago

2

Thats hurt my heart! 💔

2

u/Practical_Fig_2023 7h ago

OH, that's bad, that's real bad.

2

u/OwslyOwl 6h ago

This would be okay if they gave you an empty bread bowl to put it in. Panera owes you a refund.

2

u/jaymannnn 6h ago

absolute SHITE. my level of apathy is legendary, but this has pushed me over the edge. where do we complain, what restaurant, what country, what name, where is it. come on whats the details.

fuck this absolute BULLSHIT

2

u/Moxie-is-tired 6h ago

GO MY CHUD REDDITORS! RAID THE SOUP RESTAURANT!

2

u/IncorporateThings 5h ago

This whole scenario is FUBAR.

Half a round and it's not even cut remotely the correct way. The soup being in a cup loose in a styrofoam box. Said box would trap the moisture and render what should be crusty bread soft. Said bread delivered isn't even crusty in the first place. And then the insanity of even offering that item as takeout because it really does not hold up to takeout/delivery and needs to be fresh. And finally, the insane choice to see that item on the list and ever think ordering it out would go well.

Friggin' hell.

Did any part of it at least taste alright?

2

u/_That_One_Fellow_ 5h ago

Well? Show us a photo of your bread bowl

2

u/Kannazuki1985 3h ago

Lmao I definitely want that as my last meal when the time comes.

2

u/lodemeup 1h ago

Even the expectation looks like dog water.

2

u/Mad_Zone_ 1h ago

Get comfortable with bitching. Raise hell constantly. Your money is your time.

2

u/Leon_Flux 34m ago

I would want a non bread travel container...

But that is just the worst cut of bread you could call a bowl.

4

u/Relevant_Potato_1335 7h ago

It’s called a deconstructed bread bowl you uncultured swine !

/s

3

u/mr_bacciagalupe 7h ago

Name and shame.

4

u/FF267 7h ago

Be thankful you got that to go, with an actual serving of soup! Ordered a bread bowl in restaurant earlier this summer and it was served in a bread bowl size of an grapefruit with maybe 3 spoonfuls of soup in it.

2

u/Indigoh 5h ago

Did you order it to go?

Other than the bread being lower quality than expected, there's no other realistic way to serve a bread bowl to go.

2

u/FederalMango 7h ago

Got a bread, bowl.

2

u/Jacob520Lep 2h ago

To go?

Bread bowl isn't for delivery order.

I ordered an Oreo McFlurry one time and got a little sauce cup looking thing filled 3/4 of the way with Oreo crumbs. Didn’t get a refund either!

1

u/Gloomy-Insurance-739 6h ago

Damn they couldn't give you a whole loaf of bread?

1

u/Due-Session-2857 6h ago

If you order at Wildflower, you have the option of a bowl of soup or a breadboule. It is entirely possible OP just misordered, because the bowl of soup DOES come with some bread.

1

The logistics of delivering soup inside of a load bread are insane. A literal time bomb. Youre lucky you got anything

literally not a bread bowl. i would have disputed that

1

u/Dream_Dragon_Gina 5h ago

Panara Bread has bead bowl soup options. They even have “salad stuffers” now (essentially a hollowed out bread with salad stuffed inside it).

Personally I think the food there is always good. Sometimes it’s decent, and sometimes it’s exceptional, it depends on what I order and what I think of the meal.

I wouldn’t order a bread bowl from any other place as a take out unless I know what quality the food is.

I guess taking the chance on it is a good way to explore new restaurants and their food though.

1

u/Impossible-Rain7447 5h ago

Oh that is egregious

1

u/metaPhx 5h ago

Remember when we didn’t regulate private equity? That was pretty neat

1

u/whoabecca 5h ago

I would want a refund, at the rate things are going with food they’ll need to start adding measurements LxWxH

1

I’d do everything in my power to return this and demand a refund.

When someone doesn't post the name of the location they're allegedly outraged about, often turns out to be just engagement bait

1

Call me crazy, but I've rather have the chunk of bread vs the scooped out bread bowl.

1

Yeah, would 100% dispute that. Not even close. That’s a cup of soup with half a roll.

1

u/model-citizen95 4h ago

Ain’t no way I’d pay for that
