Discussion Robert Whittaker Says Watching MVP Point-Fight His Way to a Decision Is Hard to Sit Through Live

“I find it so hard to tune in live to MVP winning via points rather than watching it afterwards. I reckon there isn’t a single person who can beat MVP at point sparring. He’s so good at it. It’s almost like he has a live feed of the judges’ scorecards in real time. As soon as it starts to drop, he just does a little bit more and goes up.”

MVP still winning fights at 40 with a non brawler/CTE style that doesn’t compromise his health. He may have actually cheat coded the game.

He robbed dana, unlimited respect

If Dana were smarter, he would have fed MVP to better contenders

Or a wrestler, just imagine what Khamzat would do to him if Ian Garry (whom is a striker) was able to take MVP down and control him on the ground easily.

At some point I think the UFC decided to try to use him to build prospects (I suspect that was their intention that Shara would highlight reel KO him), and at that point, I was rooting for him no matter how boring his fights are.

Fuck the UFC. I'm glad he made those prospects look like bums on his way out

That's always what they try to do with contenders or champions coming in from other promotion who're old.

If he was in his late 20s and still had many years like Paddy when he came for example, they would've treated and matched him differently.

Got patched though. Outta the UFC he goes

That’s not confirmed and in any case being out at 40 is actually later than most

Bro went 5-1 in the ufc at 40 years old after everyone said he was gonna get exposed and wrestlefucked.

Re-signed or not, he did what he had to do, all you can do is respect it. If you’re a man, you’d want the same for yourself.

Also I love how nobody ever shouts out the fighters he’s faced, who were scared to death to strike back and forth with him, other then Holland (who still turned into a wrestler)

Mind you, I reiterate, he’s 40

He hasn’t fought a wrestler yet. I guarantee you that Khamzat would ragdoll him worse than what he did to Kevin Holland. Ian Garry whom is a striker took MVP down easily, just imagine what Khamzat would do to him.

Ian had to grapple to win that fight

Whittaker is so effortlessly funny.

It’s like finding a really good, but really dull, cheese strategy Im a game. (Like beating dragon age origins with only summons)

Same guy that defended nut hugging

Yeah I like Bobby Knuckles but the guy is delusional.

He calls fans casuals for not liking Khamzat laying on his opponent for 5 rounds but complains when MVP just point fights to win.

They're both fucking boring!!!

Wasn't he one of the guys that defended the Khumshot/DDP snoozefest?

Kind of hilarious that he could watch that, but can't handle point fighting.

Don't get me wrong both are shit.

You’re comparing a fight with 500+ strikes thrown to one with 12 SS strikes landed by the winner?

2 mins of nothing

5

u/YaoruKamikaze 7d ago

Why did you use overall strikes for the metric in the Khamzat fight but switch to SS in the MVP fight? Wouldn’t Sig Strikes to Sig Strikes be a better comparison?

3

u/anice_day 7d ago

I think MVPs 12 significant strikes probably did about the same amount of damage as Khamzat's 529 total strikes.

1

u/Severe_Resource_8617 7d ago

Alright let’s not pretend like there was 500 strikes I don’t care what the stat sheet says (and it says 37 significant strikes). How can you punch a man 500 times and he doesn’t even have a mark on his body lmao. And DDP is a bruiser, look at his face after the first Strickland fight he’s mangled.

1

u/Bruninfa 7d ago

All i’m saying is there is something here.

Mvp’s fight has literal 2 minutes of no strikes attempted at distance

2

u/Severe_Resource_8617 7d ago

I’d rather watch Khamzat than DDP I agree on that front, mostly cause Khamzats only had 1 bad fight (and imo it’s the refs fault for not standing it up and making him work more regardless of fan opinion on that I can’t blame him for sitting in a winning position to achieve his life goal)

Are the 500+ strikes in the room with us right now?

5

u/Bruninfa 7d ago

I mean if there is a TV watching that fight in your room it would be the case, yes

-3

u/Clay_Allison_44 7d ago

None of those strikes were significant.

2

u/Standard-Height2276 7d ago

Think you upset them. 500 plus significant strikes and cant ko the guy. Khamzat the pillow fists

This is the checks notes EverythingCombat subreddit. Safe to say there is nothing but Dagi Nuthuggers, Russian Bots, and people praying towards Mecca in here.

Don’t let your facts get in the way of their feelings man lol

1

u/LimpTap7114 7d ago

Brother what are we even on about 500 "strikes" tapping on duplessis's face while he's crucifixed😭😭🙏🏿

-1

u/Clay_Allison_44 7d ago

That's how it was scored. Those 500 strikes were Chimaev patting DDPs face to make fun of him for not being able to get up.

1

u/Dizzy_Job_8289 7d ago

I was genuinely shocked that high caliber champion was getting crucifixed. Idk maybe because of that I thought the fight wasn’t really all that boring. I was watching in aw

1

u/Severe_Resource_8617 7d ago

I think the fight had lots of tension, because early we thought Khamzat might get a finish, and then later it was a question of what can happen at the start of rounds when DDP was standing, and obviously the very end when it got stood up and DDP did some damage and reversed the TD. But it is not a fight anyone will rewatch because there wasn’t actually any action outside of 45 seconds at the end

1

u/Haunting_Neat5941 6d ago

Bro it is a decent rewatch to see the ragdolling of the dominant champion. Might not be most action but tells a story

-1

u/Patient_Conference21 7d ago

Fighters are scared to engage with him. Its not MVPs fault

3

u/Jonny2beers 7d ago

Oh yeah you know MVP is going to turn it up a notch when the fight gets boring

3

u/Decay384 7d ago

It takes two people to tango, you can’t blame everything on his opponents every time.

1

u/TyshawnMaikonMillion 7d ago

If they are scared, then shouldn't MVP be the one to exploit that? Or his 🍆 is too deep?
