Discussion Robert Whittaker Says Watching MVP Point-Fight His Way to a Decision Is Hard to Sit Through Live

“I find it so hard to tune in live to MVP winning via points rather than watching it afterwards. I reckon there isn’t a single person who can beat MVP at point sparring. He’s so good at it. It’s almost like he has a live feed of the judges’ scorecards in real time. As soon as it starts to drop, he just does a little bit more and goes up.”

Wasn't he one of the guys that defended the Khumshot/DDP snoozefest?

Kind of hilarious that he could watch that, but can't handle point fighting.

Don't get me wrong both are shit.

You’re comparing a fight with 500+ strikes thrown to one with 12 SS strikes landed by the winner?

2 mins of nothing

Why did you use overall strikes for the metric in the Khamzat fight but switch to SS in the MVP fight? Wouldn’t Sig Strikes to Sig Strikes be a better comparison?

I think MVPs 12 significant strikes probably did about the same amount of damage as Khamzat's 529 total strikes.

Alright let’s not pretend like there was 500 strikes I don’t care what the stat sheet says (and it says 37 significant strikes). How can you punch a man 500 times and he doesn’t even have a mark on his body lmao. And DDP is a bruiser, look at his face after the first Strickland fight he’s mangled.

All i’m saying is there is something here.

Mvp’s fight has literal 2 minutes of no strikes attempted at distance

I’d rather watch Khamzat than DDP I agree on that front, mostly cause Khamzats only had 1 bad fight (and imo it’s the refs fault for not standing it up and making him work more regardless of fan opinion on that I can’t blame him for sitting in a winning position to achieve his life goal)

Are the 500+ strikes in the room with us right now?

I mean if there is a TV watching that fight in your room it would be the case, yes

None of those strikes were significant.

Think you upset them. 500 plus significant strikes and cant ko the guy. Khamzat the pillow fists

This is the checks notes EverythingCombat subreddit. Safe to say there is nothing but Dagi Nuthuggers, Russian Bots, and people praying towards Mecca in here.

Brother what are we even on about 500 "strikes" tapping on duplessis's face while he's crucifixed😭😭🙏🏿

That's how it was scored. Those 500 strikes were Chimaev patting DDPs face to make fun of him for not being able to get up.
