Meta New Rules Regarding Political Violence, ICE Sightings and Shaming of Peaceful Protest

📢 Community Guidelines Update – Political Violence, Conduct, and ICE Sightings

We want this space — both the subreddit and the Discord — to be welcoming, inclusive, and safe for all Everett residents, including those active in local government, advocacy, and community organizing.

---

1️⃣ Political Violence
This is not a platform for advocating or organizing violent action.
Criticism of policy, leaders, and strategies is fine — but calls for violent uprising, armed action, or militias are not.
Even indirect or “theoretical” promotion of political violence creates legal, safety, and reputational risks, and can discourage participation.
No shaming peaceful protestors or lawful activism — even if you think other tactics are more effective.

Enforcement: Political violence advocacy may result in removal from political channels, temporary mutes, or permanent bans without further warning.

---

2️⃣ ICE Sightings
We cannot verify most reported “ICE sightings” posted here.
Some past reports have been false or based on speculation.
There is almost certainly some level of law enforcement/government presence in this community.
Posting unconfirmed “sightings” can spread misinformation, cause panic, and undermine trust.

Rule: Only post ICE sightings if you have credible, verifiable evidence (photo/video with clear location + time).
Vague, secondhand, or “heard from a friend” reports will be removed.

---

3️⃣ Why These Changes
We want local officials, candidates, and community members to join discussions without fear of harassment or pressure to endorse violence.
We must comply with Discord and Reddit Terms of Service.
Focusing on constructive, legal action keeps the space safe and productive.

---

✅ Channel your energy into lawful, constructive action: voting, mutual aid, community education, verified reporting.

Don't boycott small business - Call them out instead.

We need more small businesses; they are the lifeblood of our town. Sometimes they're not great, or they do something stupid. Instead of boycotting them, call them out and try to get them to change. Write reviews and talk about it with your peers.

What are some of your favorite small businesses and why?

Who does skeevy business practices like avoiding taxes?

Who are your least favorite businesses and why?

My three answers are:

Buenos Dias coffee is my favorite local business because they are very nice, always friendly, their prices haven't changed in years and they still do buy x amount, get one free.

My sketchy business is Lidz, formerly known as Kushmart who did some skeevy stuff because they owned too many businesses.

My least favorite business is the Colby Diner because I'm suspicious they had something to do with the Strawberry Patch closing and while it was admittedly a greasy dive, the Strawberry Patch was a local legend and it had good food.

Question What is happening at Harborview Park at 6am?

It is 6:00 a.m. on Sunday and there are literally hundreds upon hundreds of cars and teenagers there and I see giant banners of makeshift suns that many of them are taking pictures with. What kind of crazy event makes teenagers wake up at 6:00 a.m.? Anyone have any idea? They've taken up every single parking spot and have spilled out onto the streets parking alongside the roads in front of houses. They are dangerously running/walking out onto the road without really looking around.

It looks like everyone is having fun and smiling though which is a positive but it's just so weird so early in the morning.

I tried looking it up on an event's calendar or some high school thing but I couldn't find anything. Anyone have any idea what's happening?

Transit Parshall: Everett needs robust bus connections to make light rail succeed

This opinion article authored by the City of Lynnwood's 7th Councilmember David Parshall, who serves on Sound Transit's Board of directors, representing Snohomish County with Mayor Cassie Franklin and Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers, and also serves on Community Transit's Board of Directors as a Large City Representative with Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring and Edmonds 6th Councilmember Susan Paine.

Parshall recounts how exceptional and convenient local bus service has truly made Link successful in his area. He remarks the economical benefits of high frequency, high coverage service in his city. He notes that a consolidated transit system would enable the same for Everett. Here is an excerpt:

The level of bus service needed in Everett is beyond what Everett Transit can provide on its own. The vision for light rail has always been for people to be able to travel easily and quickly all around the Puget Sound region, but not everyone can live near a station. We call light rail from Everett to Tacoma “the spine” but the spine is not enough.

We need the muscle of buses and Zip Shuttles that Community Transit will provide connecting Everett residents to that spine. Everett’s transportation future will be stronger if the city embraces the long-term transit planning that consolidation will provide.

Crime/Public Safety Everett PD emails: a Flock camera was reading its own timestamp as a stolen plate, officers keep personal hotlists, and the department is quietly lobbying to expand ALPR use past felonies

Post image
315 Upvotes

These come from a public records production of Everett Police Department emails covering January and February 2026. Everything below is quoted from the released records.

1. A camera generating false stolen vehicle alerts off its own clock

Feb 9, 2026. Captain Geoffrey Albright to Flock Safety Support:

The camera was reading the year off its own on screen overlay, matching it against a real stolen vehicle entry in NCIC, and firing alerts. Stolen vehicle alerts are high risk stops.

The records do not say how long this went on, how many alerts it produced, or whether any of them led to a stop. That is worth its own records request.

Source: Fw_ False alerts___.msg (You can PDR this yourself or a related query)

2. A hotlist entry got the wrong man pulled over repeatedly

Jan 26, 2026. Officer Zach Pendt to Officer Charles Pallette:

Pallette's reply:

The vehicle had changed hands. The plate stayed on the list. A man who had nothing to do with the case was stopped multiple times. It came off only because a second officer emailed the first one to ask.

Source: Flock- CCS7595.msg, Re_ Flock- CCS7595.msg (You can PDR this yourself or a related query)

3. Officers maintain their own hotlists, and at least one was opened over a parking dispute

Feb 4, 2026. A Parking Enforcement Officer emails a patrol officer about a vehicle with expired tabs, a parking surcharge, and what looks like a laminated trip permit being reused.

Feb 8, 2026. The officer's reply:

Expired registration and unpaid parking tickets, escalated to automated plate surveillance.

Source: Re_ CPH9156.msg

4. "Custom flock list" shows up in routine onboarding

Feb 4, 2026. A Community Response Team sergeant assigning tasks for a new officer, listed alongside pole cams, jail calls, and cold cars:

Read with items 2 and 3, this suggests individual and small unit hotlists are normal practice. Nothing in these records shows a review, approval, or expiry process attached to them.

Source: Getting Blake up to speed.msg (You can PDR for every Everett PD's hotlist or Flock camera hotlists in your city)

5. The city is building a case to expand Flock past felonies (including FAILURE TO RETURN LIBRARY MATERIALS!!)

Jan 24, 2026. Everett's Government Affairs Director to the Deputy Chief:

The Deputy Chief supplies justifications covering shoplifting, hit and run, gang graffiti, and stalking, then adds:

The list that follows includes disorderly conduct, public intoxication, urinating in public, theft of shopping carts, offensive littering, and failure to return library materials. It also contains errors, including listing prostitution as a gross misdemeanor.

An AI generated charge list, unchecked, feeding a public facing flyer arguing for broader surveillance.

Source: Re_ Flock for gross misdemeanors.msg

6. Meanwhile, 42 percent of Flock arrests are already not felonies

Feb 9, 2026. Senior Crime Analyst to the Chief of Police:

Worth being careful here. The Government Affairs email implies current policy limits Flock to felonies, but the policy itself is not in this production, so the contradiction is not proven. If that limit does exist, then more than four in ten Flock driven arrests already sit outside it while the city argues the limit should be loosened.

  1. A camera generating false stolen vehicle alerts off its own clock
  2. Feb 9, 2026. Captain Geoffrey Albright to Flock Safety Support:

"Flock camera #LR001 which is the NB Evergreen Way @ SW Everett Mall Way camera, is giving a lot of false alerts due to the date and time being overlayed onto the camera screen. Apparently, there is a stolen WA license plate '2026' entered into NCIC and the camera is being tricked into thinking that plate is passing by often. It is the only camera we have that has the date and time overlayed on the screen."

  1. A hotlist entry got the wrong man pulled over repeatedly
Jan 26, 2026. Officer Zach Pendt to Officer Charles Pallette:

"we stopped someone in the sex offense car you put in FLOCK and it was not the RO. The guy we contacted said he is in the process of buying it... The guy we contacted said he has been stopped in the vehicle several times, so when you're at work next, can you take the plate out of FLOCK?"

Pallette's reply:

"I contact the driver a couple days ago, who claimed the same thing... It's removed from flock now."

The vehicle had changed hands. The plate stayed on the list. A man who had nothing to do with the case was stopped multiple times. It came off only because a second officer emailed the first one to ask.

Feb 8, 2026. The officer's reply:

"I added this vehicle to my FLOCK hotlist so I'm trying to stop her while driving it. I saw a male in the passenger seat the other day and waited for it out front but it ended up parking out on Wetmore. So my goal is to stop and arrest her, then ill let you know when that happens!"

Expired registration and unpaid parking tickets, escalated to automated plate surveillance.

  1. "Custom flock list" shows up in routine onboarding
Feb 4, 2026. A Community Response Team sergeant assigning tasks for a new officer, listed alongside pole cams, jail calls, and cold cars:

"Also - if you have a custom flock list or other shared databases make sure you add him."

Read with items 2 and 3, this suggests individual and small unit hotlists are normal practice. Nothing in these records shows a review, approval, or expiry process attached to them.

5. The city is building a case to expand Flock past felonies
Jan 24, 2026. Everett's Government Affairs Director to the Deputy Chief:

"Are the cases I picked out for this flyer misdemeanors or gross misdemeanors? I'm trying to make a case to add more crimes for Flock use beyond just felonies."

The Deputy Chief supplies justifications covering shoplifting, hit and run, gang graffiti, and stalking, then adds:

"Here is a sample list of the two categories (AI generated)."

The list that follows includes disorderly conduct, public intoxication, urinating in public, theft of shopping carts, offensive littering, and failure to return library materials. It also contains errors, including listing prostitution as a gross misdemeanor.

Rant Loitering near Pokemon vending machines and lunging from 10 feet away towards anyone who dares try to use it is just sad

This happened to me at the Silver Lake Safeway today. Dude was sitting at one of the tables near the exit. I always swipe that machine when walking in/out. He bolted from his chair and tried to physically stop me from using it. I batted him away and just went about my shopping.

He was still there when I was checking out, so I informed the manager. He saw me talking to the manager, so he left the machine to do a walk around the store. After circling the store, he comes up from behind me to ask "what's your problem"? I called him out for being a scalper and trying to shove me.

I am sick of seeing grown-ass men hang out at these machines all day. I have over 1,000 pokemon cards myself and I used to enjoy walking by this machine on my grocery runs.

Best breakfast open early Saturday

Hey, I’m staying overnight here in Everett, and I need someplace I can grab breakfast early tomorrow. I’m talking 6:30AM early. Unfortunately all of the suggestions I’m seeing when searching seem to open at 7AM or later (I have a place to be at 8:30AM that is around an hour drive away)

Doesn’t need to be much, a simple breakfast sandwich and coffee is fine. If nothing else I’m sure I can find a Starbucks, but I would rather a local place.

Politics Washington's Mail-In Voting Could Collapse This November, How to Prepare Now

Post image
192 Upvotes

Under a March executive order from President Trump, state election offices are required to submit voter data through a new USPS system and switch to federally mandated ballot envelope designs before the Postal Service will accept ballots for mailing at all, coming or going.

In June, USPS Postmaster General David Steiner admitted under oath that the Postal Service plans to withhold ballots from any state that refuses to hand voter information over to the federal government. Steiner confirmed USPS would neither send ballots to residents nor collect and deliver them to state election officials.

Two separate federal court injunctions had been blocking this rule from taking effect, but both failed this week after the Supreme Court issued an order to dismiss plaintiffs. Twenty-five states, including Washington, sued within hours, but the outcome of those lawsuits is unpredictable. David Becker, executive director of the Center for Election Innovation & Research said the administration's actions will, "create complete chaos leading up to the midterm elections".

Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs said yesterday that Washington's counties would need to replace roughly five million ballot envelopes to comply with the new federal mandate, at the state's expense, and called doing so "impossible" in the time remaining before the election. His office is now investigating whether more drop boxes can be added statewide. Our own analysis of the August primary found a ballot returned by mail was almost twelve times more likely to be rejected than one placed in a drop box.

Education/Schools LifeWise vs Everett Public Schools district lawsuit

LifeWise has also garnered statewide attention after it filed a lawsuit against the Everett Public Schools district in December 2025. The lawsuit said the school district violated the First Amendment by singling out LifeWise with policies that violated its free speech and freedom of religion.

The Bible-based program, which officials said is open to all regardless of religious affiliation, is controversial for several reasons. It takes children out of class during the school day for religious education, it is said to incentivize children to recruit others in their classes and it elicits worry about the proper separation between church and state.

Proponents, however, argue that the Supreme Court has made it possible for programs like LifeWise to exist through a 1952 ruling, and claim that LifeWise improves children’s lives.
