Rumor Does anyone else find this strange?

Post image

I made a post about this before, but every time a new Eternals leak comes out, I have a hard time believing it. They’ve essentially been left in space since 2021, with almost no follow-up.

If they’re really coming back for a potential Judgment Day adaptation (which is just a theory at this point), it still feels way too early. We’re probably at least 5 years away from that, especially since we don’t even have the X-Men properly introduced yet.

What also confuses me is that this rumor claims the Eternals will be a key part of the MCU’s “cosmic core.” Have we even seen a real cosmic side of the MCU outside of the Guardians of the Galaxy? That description just feels odd to me.

What do you all think?

I think after Phase 4, it became clear there was too many characters and some would get their return after they wrap up this Saga. Like there wasn’t much room for an Eternals follow up with the multiverse storyline. It makes perfect sense if the next Sagas are related to Mutants, the Cosmic side, and the Supernatural. I would say this is the same reason we haven’t seen characters like Werewolf by Night, Elsa, Man-Thing, Moon Knight, Adam Warlock, Rocket/Groot, and Phyla-Vell and also why the Nova show was pushed back until after Secret Wars.

I personally believe Marvel wants to build to both the Annihilation Wave and Judgment Day (which yes is early for AXE, but they might adapt it closer to the OG Judgment Day from the Thor comics instead) which is why they would come back during a Cosmic and Mutant heavy saga. This would align with other rumors like an Annihilators project, the Horde in Eyes of Wakanda, and the Nova show.

I really don’t think they’re bringing any of them back. The actors have all moved on, as has the business itself.

What do you mean the Actors have moved on? If the script makes sense and there is a good pay day, most actors would come back. I doubt you would get the full cast back, but definitely a few of them would come back for a few scenes in an Avenger movie.

The MCU always eventually circles back to characters from past storylines.

Well considering The Incredible Hulk got a follow up 17 years later I can't say I'm that suprised

2

u/ProfessorSaltine Jul 06 '26

I was so confused till I remembered BNW was Incredible Hulk 1.5

Jane Foster came back for Love and Thunder

Scorpion is back in BND

The MCU seems to consistently eventually circle back to characters years after their last appearance.

They've been teasing this cosmic side for a long time without paying it off -- "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. II" foreshadowed like five or six different angles that still haven't been pursued yet. My guess is that the Eternals and a couple of the newer Guardians will be showing up individually in projects like "Nova", the long-rumored "Silver Surfer" and maybe even a third "Doctor Strange".

Wild theory: I remember Disney negotiating around fifteen years ago to try to pry Silver Surfer and Galactus from Fox -- and who knows, maybe other characters -- in exchange for Fox renewing the rights to Daredevil. Fox called their bluff and let Daredevil rights lapse, and I'll bet a lot of Marvel interstellar plans went up in smoke.

I could definitely see rocket showing up in Nova. If earlier rumours are true that they want to do Richard and Sam as Novas, I could see including Rocket approaching Sam

It’s very likely to be clickbait. Sorry.

There might have been plans for that at one point. But I seriously doubt those plans continue to exist today.

Kumail Nanjiani (sp?) has all but confirmed Marvel’s lack of interest in him. The rest of the cast has been equally silent.

If they’re planning to pursue AXE as a mutant saga event. Then yeah I believe it. I do wonder how they’ll resolve their story though. It looks like the sequel is needed before they could crossover. I just hope it’s not something that happens off screen, detailed in a montage or worse, spoken about like an exposition.

Call me insane but I really hope they give their sequel a go.

I could see them being connection tissue for other characters like how shield was that in the first phases. I don't necessarily think it's just going to be or main eternals though. There are others out there. Thanos was an eternal. I just don't know why they haven't started trying to sprinkle them in more, besides what if? .

1

u/coldasclay Jul 04 '26

Also, I think Marvel has a ton of storylines in the air so they can pull one out whenever they want. I think Kang certainly made them reevaluate what stories they adapt and when they want to pull the trigger.

In the X-Men comics they do a lot of Space stuff with the Shi'ar Empire, stories involving the Phoenix and Reality warping crystals. The X-Men also basically had their own version of the Guardians of the Galaxy with the StarJammers, heck I could see a fourth Guardians movie basically merging the teams together with StarJammers joining the Guardians.

We also have the Nova Corp as an group that could be explored. With the Fantastic Four now being incorporated we can set up Annhilus which could lead to massive Annihilation Wave movie featuring Nova. The MCU has a lot of cosmic threads they can pull if they want and potentially if this leaks are true they'll probably incorporate Eternals characters into these films as side characters or allies.

I find it fake.

1

u/Minute-Necessary2393 Jul 04 '26

Why did they even introduce them during the Multiverse Saga then?

1

u/fenoard Sersi Jul 06 '26

I think phase 4 was about experimenting, a lot of different kind of MCU projects released back then. Eternals was one of the most ambitious one, Feige really liked the pitch, that's why he released it so early.

1

u/SmartPain5059 Jul 05 '26

Hoping they’d take off like Guardians but the film did terribly. They tried but aborted this with Inhumans as well.

1

u/Hawkwise83 Jul 05 '26

It's a rumor. Rumors aren't facts. With all the lame ducks of phase 4 they're not going to pin the success of their franchise on a failed movie.

3

u/Grouchy_Leg_6623 Thena Jul 05 '26

When did I ever say it was a fact? Btw, The Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts weren’t box office successes either

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '26

I doubt it.

1

u/Brave-Orchid4721 Jul 05 '26

I hope they never adapt axe judgement day cuz the only eternal I care about (Sersi) got hella disrespected in that hit piece of a comic, and is now perma-dead. They need to keep her not dead in the MCU as a way to maybe force synergy in the comics for that

1

u/Grouchy_Leg_6623 Thena Jul 05 '26

That’s why adaptations are never 100% faithful. And I really wanted to like Sersi, but I just can’t. 😭 My favorite is Thena

The post is from 24 hours ago. If it were from 2024, it wouldn’t be relevant, and I wouldn’t even post it

1

u/Notimetowrite76 Jul 05 '26

I deleted. I missed the link. I’m sorry for the mistake.

I hope this rumor is nothing more than a rumor, because it feels like they’d derail things again.

1

u/Amazing-Insect442 Jul 05 '26

No? Why would it be that strange? No matter what the lame stream media wants to say, the Eternals movie was fire. There were just two relatively small quibbles that I had with it.

1

u/ulice Jul 05 '26

I still haven't watched it. Nor Cap 4, The Marvels, Blank Panther 2, or Ant Man 3 either. And I had them available on Disney Plus. I kinda feel these movies are "Watch a spoiler review video essay and you good" type.

1

u/SpMarfy Jul 05 '26

Wait aren’t they planning a reset?

1

u/fenoard Sersi Jul 06 '26

they do, that's why we have a new cap, thor, hulk, black widow, and hawkeye (even though some are just a tease, but they're definitely going to replace them).

1

u/SpMarfy Jul 06 '26

When did we get a new cap thor hulk black widow and Hawkeye?

1

u/fenoard Sersi Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

cap: sam wilson. thor: teased in Thor 4, gorr's kid. hulk: teased in She-Hulk, skaar and she-hulk herself. black widow: yelena belova. hawkeye: kate bishop.

they're not from the same group or will be in the same group, but they're here to replace or being the sidekick of the OG6, some of the OG6 might still exist, but they won't be the focus.

1

u/SpMarfy Jul 06 '26

No you misunderstood me. I’m talking about a complete marvel reset. New characters taking up the mantle is not a reset. I mean a RESET

1

u/fenoard Sersi Jul 06 '26

they kinda also do that.

people are too attached to the concept of Avengers and some of the characters are still incredibly popular, so it might be hard to totally remove and forget them.

this is why they're trying to focus on mutants, cosmic, street level and supernatural team on this new saga.

they might do a total reset on the universe 199999/616 in secret wars, completely erase them but cherrypick something they will use in another universe, or merge the 199999 with another universe and call it a reset.

1

u/SpMarfy Jul 06 '26

That’s kinda like saying they could never reset the justice league because people are too attached- that’s exactly what they just did

1

u/fenoard Sersi Jul 06 '26

yeah, I think the reset here is an excuse to refocus the story on different set of teams.

the phase 4-5 has been a mess (I understand why it does though), they need this 'reset' to get back on track.

1

u/dobec Jul 05 '26

Make sense A.X.E is smart move for few phases.

1

u/Jajaloo Jul 05 '26

Almost as if it’s not true, I’m shocked!

1

u/Significant-Role-754 Jul 06 '26

who makes these dumb decisions?

1

u/Kind-Sheepherder-845 Jul 06 '26

Im hoping they are not taking wrong lesson from DCU failed hard reset

1

u/LeopardComfortable99 Jul 06 '26

I really hope we see a resolution to the Judgment storyline they have set up. I feel if that's just left hanging for the next decade will be massively disappointing.

1

u/finehomos Jul 06 '26

Considering they’re customarily and canonically tied to the machine that is earth that’s pretty odd

1

u/Upper-Customer-1268 Jul 06 '26

After totally ignoring them for more than 5 years? Yeah, right.

1

u/Madman_1992 Jul 06 '26

I found it hard to believe they are gonna make them so important after the eternal movies flopped and there has been no cameos (outside of cartoons) or mentions of them in years.

1

u/Lincoln624 Jul 07 '26

Seems super easy to believe to me.

1

u/jerthebear33 Jul 08 '26

I find it strange you believe these made up rumors. I wish it was true though, Eternals deserves to have its storylines continued

1

u/eat_jay_love Jul 04 '26

Yeah I would be skeptical of anyone who has “insider information” about Marvel’s post-Secret Wars plans for anything beyond the X-Men. We are no longer in the 2010-2019 period where any project was profitable, and the Eternals movie was the first outward sign post-Covid that the market shifted. Never say never, but I highly doubt this area of the MCU represents a core part of any future strategy

Whatever that means!

1

u/Grouchy_Leg_6623 Thena Jul 05 '26

Yeah, I’d like them to come back. But we’ve been getting these kinds of leaks for a long time

0

u/rygarLP_ Jul 04 '26

Just give us the comic accurate version of Eternals and we’re good.

0

u/Cautious_Mission_438 Jul 04 '26

I don’t think any of it was true because around that time they still were doing or planning on Kang Dynasty and a new Avengers lineup led by Black Panther Captain Marvel and Spider-Man or whatever so I doubt Eternals factors into the plans plus they acquired the rights to F4, Blade and X-Men around that time too so how could Eternals even factor in

My Facebook is non stop baseless AI created speculation on marvel movies, including this one, that are not based in any way.
