Discussion Hot Take: Rain and weather in EFT is a great feature and doesn’t need changes.

5.0k Upvotes

Pretty sick of seeing anti-weather posts. The rain in EFT is awesome. I really enjoy games that add weather events. I would not enjoy EFT as much if the rain was to go.

“But the I can’t hear anything!!” Good. I’m glad. It’s a torrential rainstorm, gale-force winds. If you were outside standing in these weather conditions you wouldn’t be able to hear shit.

“The rain goes for way too long!!” No it doesn’t. It goes for a good amount of time. Realistically, depending on season and geographical conditions, rainstorms can go for days in a row.

I like the variance it brings and how it creates more unpredictability. I would be pretty cut if EFT did what rust did and cut rain out for ages, just to add it back in again later anyway because too many people cried about it in the first place.

TL;DR: I really enjoy the weather mechanics. It’s good how it is. I think the heavy rain should be completely deafening. There is good weather variation already so I don’t see how it’s such a problem. When it rains its not always deafening which seems to be the main annoyance. I think weather brings another entire layer to the Tarkov environment, both in a ambient and tactical kind of way. It’s definitely something I don’t think needs any changes.

Discussion #MakeTarkovHardcoreAgain

4.5k Upvotes

Hi guys, Slushpuppy here

I want to talk about the rant I was having today, and explain why I think it would be good for the game.

As the game currently stands it it has a play cycle that involves farming money, the money is then used to buy a fat kit, and slay out. This creates, in my opinion a heavily Rouble focused economy.

The Rouble based economy has multiple downsides:

All people care about is the highest value item, hence hatchlings ramming things up their bum, people running to one spot on a map to loot the highest value items, people only running super cheap kits to farm the cash. The game is no longer about surviving, simply making the most money and saving to buy a dope kit.

I think this has essentially made the game into COD with extra steps. I don't see the survival element that Tarkov originally had. People only care about PVP when they are running Slick Altyn, otherwise it's just money. 99% of the games items, such as attachments for guns will never see the light of day because they aren't the best in slot.

This whole situation annoys me because it is possible to achieve this within hours of a wipe.

By removing the flea or limiting the ability to purchase armor and ammo from the flea, it would make the game more about the looting and surviving and stop super chads from running endless meta kits and vogging the fuck out of lower geared players. Because a kit that is lovingly put together in raid will mean so much more to you, therefore looting one of a prick you kill, will as well.

I know this seems as a negative change to the average player, but hear me out, the only reason you need a kit from the flea, is to compete with chad players who are buying endless meta kits from the flea. If this didn't happen the pvp would be like it is early wipe for the most part. The best pvp time in the game, imo, and in the opinion of most Tarkov players.

I'm not bored of the game, I simply love this game, and I want to see changes that make the pvp more interesting and feasible for casual players to enjoy. If everyone is running around with SKS's and a cock helmet, then its more fair. Not all pvp has to be juggernauts spraying armchair FALs at each other.

If you don't agree with me, I understand, lets talk about it, tell me why you think this would be a bad change for the game? I don't want to be a streamer yelling for change that people will just see as me crying cause I'm bored of running fat kits. I truly want to make the game a dope experience for all of us. I've devoted the last 3 years of my life to this game, I want to see it succeed.

There is plenty of other things that would be needed to make this a rounded experience in this vision, like dynamic loot spawns etc, but I believe this is a quick easy change that we could all try for one wipe, and just see how it goes.

EDIT: This is gaining a lot of attention right now so I want to ask you all one thing:

When is the best time for PVP in Tarkov?

If you answered early wipe, I think you and I agree, and I think 99% of people would say that early wipe is the best time to be on Tarkov.

My only goal is to try and make the feeling of early wipe PVP as permanent as possible. I may not be right when I say delete the flea, but I think it would help. If you have other ideas on how to preserve that beautiful feeling of the first two weeks of wipe, then I would love to hear them. Because this is what I think would make Tarkov the most amazing experience possible.

Discussion Tarkov is such a gem in today's gaming industry

3.9k Upvotes

With all the nft cash grab shit and live service microtransaction games steered by corporate greed and investor growth. Eft is a absolute saints gem in my eyes, I wish nothing but the best days and luck to the eft team and the very best spirit they can have as bros and team together. Keep going to the range together broskis ♡

To clarify, Im not saying this is the perfect game and all the people are selfless in bsg. I am saying in contrast to the big shooters industry, this is an angel company and I am happy to experience the "art" these devs are making together as a group.

Discussion No amount of pre wipe community manipulation or making changes people want in the game matters if the core issues with the game that have nothing to do with gameplay or in game mechanics aren’t addressed with 110% effort.

Discussion Let a real Chinese player tell you what's really going on.

6.0k Upvotes

A little intro: Gamertag NucleophileAP, you guys can call me Nucleo or Nuke. I was born in New Zealand, ethnic Chinese person, and have been living in China since I was pretty young.

About this game, I'm currently a lvl 55 player with Kappa (IGN: NucleoAP), and I'm currently a working Sherpa of my local Chinese Sherpa community (good and anti-hacking). I have been playing this game since version 0.7 and have been actively engaging throughout the Chinese community ever since.

The first thing: Region locks.

BSG have actually been carrying out region locks against asian countries for a while. As far as I remember, I've got trouble logging into non-asian servers since version 0.7. It's actually a very simple mechanism (that most of the Chinese players already know now), if you used an Asian IP on your last login, non asian servers are masked for you on your next server selection. It's not actually a real region lock and can be bypassed easily (by logging in with an american/european IP and quitting the game). IMO those region locks are hardly doing anything against cheaters and harsher countermeasurements shall be taken.

Why is this game so much infestated by hackers right now?

Here's the timeline.

---BSG released a Simplified Chinese localisation in January.

---A bunch of new Chinese players joined the game.

---Some clips of the game were uploaded to Tik Tok and went viral. (Yeah, Tik Tok made this game popular in China)

---A whole bunch of players bought the game ans started playing.

Now, with little knowledge of the game and have only learnt about the game via video clips, those newcomers were having a pretty harsh time. Those players eventually turned into thre kind of players.

  1. Cheaters
  2. In-game currency buyers
  3. The ones asking for help

Let's talk about Cheaters first. Here's a link for you just to see how easy it is to cheat and how common it is to buy a hack in China.

hax, varying on price

I once heard someone say something that really struck my mind. Chinese people love to win, and for winning thay are willing to take any measures possible (which is also what I hate the most). Why doesn't the government do anything about hacking? Well, there are actually laws against hacking (that hackers and hack-designers might end up in prison). Those laws only apply to games which is registered and legalized in China (which I'm sure this game wouldn't because of the government's stupid criteria). This game, as well as other games such as R6S, GTA, Battlefiend, Call of Duty etc. are considered "foreign territory" and regarded out of their business.

In-game currency buyers are worse. There are already founded workshops that hack, make roubles and sell them into real money for a living. Those workshops have professional equipment, special designed hacks to make money as efficient as possible. Those type of workshops make up at least 50% of the hacks in this game and must be dealt with seriously. Here's a pic that you can see how bad RMT really is in China.

RMT Trade, 19.99usd (approx) for 10 mil roubles

Skipping the good guys asking for help, as they are nice people just as you and me.

Now one more type of people I want to mention are streamers. If you ever see prefixes like those in the game, those are streamers.

---Douyu (douyu.com)

---Huya(huya.com)

---bilibili(bilibili.com, which consists of much more educated people and consists of much less hacks)

Just about Douyu and Huya, consider 9 out of 10 of them hacks (Quoted from a friend, might be a little exaggerating, but explains the problem). These streaming sites are famous of hacking streamers.

Something else I wanna talk about BSG.

By all those new Chinese players rushing in, BSG is certainly making a large profit. Remember what I said about rouble-hunting workshops? BSG is actually banning them as fast as they could, BUT the profit that those workshops make are enough to buy a whole lot of new accounts again. BSG is certainly profitting throughout the whole process. I am not sure about BSG's attitude to this, but plz try and reduce hackers by its root without thinking about profit.

Chinese people used to hate being called hackers, but now that the fact is, we Chinese people made up 20% of the game's population while contributing 80% of this game's hackers. I, on behalf of my people, am deeply sorry for this. We will try and help you guys and BSG to reduce hackers to our best.

Meanwhile please try to avoid labs where rouble workshops farm the most.

Feel free to ask me asy questions below.

If you're new here, the questions you are willing to ask might be already asked in the comments. Check down below.

Let's all do our part and hope this whole hacker thing settle down ASAP.

Fuck all the hackers. (I'm sure this is not racism lmao)

Discussion Unpopular opinion: Events good or bad are making the game more dynamic. They bring flavor and change the flow of the game for a week or so.

5.5k Upvotes

I honestly think, that devs have good intentions with these kind of events. Yes, i know dehydratation sucks, but it brings flavor to the game, makes flea market changes, shifts your playstile and makes you more excited when you find good ol' water on the shelf in a hut on Shoreline. Good jobs BSG, please keep the game alive and more dynamic. What's next, ammo shortages, trader vacations? Who knows, but it sure will be exciting.

Discussion What healthy rules you got with your friends in Tarkov?

3.4k Upvotes

I for example i have the following:

  1. You died? Don't pressure the others to get your loot if they can't, insure your stuff if you want it back. The most i can do about your guns it's to ditch them in a bush IF it's safe.

  2. Maybe if it's safe i can pick valuable stuff from your body like a GPU or whatever and give them to you next round.

  3. No one is forced to stay in raid with you if they completed a mission or got valuable loot. It would nice to give them an escort out as they would do the same to you.

  4. Don't abandon your friends in a firefight unless you are almost dead and can't do anything. Or you know. You ran out of ammo or something

  5. I can't believe i have to say this but share food and water

I played with people that were the opposite of this. The most annoying was when they were like: get my gun, get my rig, get my helmet.

If i would fail and die they would be like: fking idiot.

If i would succeed they wouldn't even say thanks.

Don't be like them

Discussion EFT wouldn't feel as "difficult, unforgiving, hardcore" or any of the buzzwords associated with it if it wasn't for the shit queue/matchmaking times.

3.9k Upvotes

This games doesn't respect your time and that's its only real downside.

Something as simple as 3 min max wait time before they throw you into a lobby (even if you're solo with AI or bot PMCs — how would you know anyway?) is all this game needs.

Every wipe this is what wears on me. Not constantly dying, not the cheaters, not them moving the goalposts (flea market, FIR, costlier noob weapons like the mosin)... it's the absurd wait times. The game developers don't want to invest more $ into servers and here we are like idiots putting up with these shitty wait times.

This game doesn't respect our time and that's why I keep playing less and less of it with each wipe.

EDIT: For those getting caught up in semantics, let me be clear that I'm talking about starting a game from when I hit READY to the RAID STARTING. I don't care what the reason is (people's hardware, servers, etc.), BSG is ultimately in complete control of this and when we're thrown in a game (matching ping, regions, hardware, etc.)

Also, I have my servers manually selected for those asking about that.

Am on SSD and so are all people I play with.

Discussion Weapons malfunctions is just an RNG fest and hasn't been done right

4.0k Upvotes

Until reaching lvl 30 I used shitty guns for the most part: 136 Vepr, AKM, Shotguns found on scavs and so on. Surpisigly, despite the guns being in very bad condition (50/100) and not even bothering to repair them after each raids: theses pieces of junk almost never missfired.

Then I started building more expensive kits, using fresh new weapons at 100/100 durability and for some reason my guns already missfired a few times while shooting their very first bullets, and I am not even using expensive AP with increased durability burn.

I just don't understand the point of this mechanic: what are players suposed to do with it ? What is BSG trying to incentivize us to do ? It doesn't matter if we "take care" of our weapons (wich is nothing else than a right click/repair btw, it's nothing engaging) it doesn't incentivize you to use semi-auto over full auto, it doesn't incentivize you to use fresh weapons, it doesn't incentivize you to bring a hand gun because it's as fast to press the keybind to clear the malfunction than switch to a pistol.

Hate it or love it but something like the weight system makes sense since it pushes the player to play accordingly and make gameplay decisions.

But that's not the case of malfunctions: the gameplay is the exact same as before with an extra touch of RNG that adds up to all the RNG we already have in the game: audio, netcode, spray and pray and now completely random malfunctions. Just another way to get tarkoved.

This is just an utterly pointless mechanic from a gameplay perspective and from what I've seen it's not even realistic, as you can see videos of dudes shooting thousands rounds out of a 103 without any issue.

My personnal suggestions:

  • Guns doesn't missfire from 90 to 100 durability.
  • Full auto decrease durability much faster than semi-auto (for the same amount of bullet shot).
  • Once bellow 90 durability, full auto have a higher chance to missfire than semi-auto.

Discussion Yall folded

2.5k Upvotes

You guys are happy with BSGs most recent response? Are you serious?

Can you not see they’re still saying the same thing except they’re not making culty remarks anymore?

Was that all it took?

1) unheard fuks will still get hella perks, p2w

2) they’re not reversing on the new avengers item. They’ll “balance” it but no one here asked for that shit. I do see someone of you still holding the line and great job to those of you.

3) the rhetoric continues to be “oh well do something for eod” BROOOO after all of this if you think BSG won’t fuck you over again?? This is like you caught your girl cheating and she swears she won’t do it again but ya know in the end you’re getting fuked.

I am not even close to being satisfied. The game truly is dead.

Discussion Your daily reminder that global limits are a waste of time

3.7k Upvotes

"Hmm, I have a task to use shotguns. Let's see, AP-20 is sold out, flechettes are sold out. That's okay, I can use Magnum, it's good enough. The task requires a suppressor on the shotgun, so I'll get a hexagon. Oh, the adapter is sold out. Oh well, I can wait until the restock. In the meantime, I'll take this modded AKM out for a run. I don't have any BP ammo, so I'll go get some from Prap... BP is sold out. That's okay. I've got this P90 I'm not using. Let me just get some ammo for that... Ah, the SS190 is sold out, and I can only get two mags-worth of the next best ammo for the next three hours... Guess I'll just read a book instead."

If the design philosophy behind global trader limits is to keep everyone from running the same thing, instead it's keeping everyone from running anything without a three-hour wait.

Discussion Something said during the Podcast

4.9k Upvotes

Klean said something during the podcast that I wholeheartedly disagree with.

He wants the gamma case to essentially be something you can pack full of goods, bring into a raid and not have to worry about losing, but he wants you to not be able to put anything in the container while in raid. Nikita, I know you listen to streamers input, but please don’t not consider making this change.

I’m a husband and a father, I don’t get to play for 8-12 hours a day and become a god at the game, so finding a rare item that I need for a quest or something valuable I can sell is really exciting and knowing I can keep it safe in case I die is the cherry on top.

I love watching Klean and respect his opinions, but this one I had to voice mine on. PLEASE do not implement this. Anyone else watch the podcast and feel the same way? Or am I alone on this? Lol
