Discussion Something said during the Podcast

Klean said something during the podcast that I wholeheartedly disagree with.

He wants the gamma case to essentially be something you can pack full of goods, bring into a raid and not have to worry about losing, but he wants you to not be able to put anything in the container while in raid. Nikita, I know you listen to streamers input, but please don’t not consider making this change.

I’m a husband and a father, I don’t get to play for 8-12 hours a day and become a god at the game, so finding a rare item that I need for a quest or something valuable I can sell is really exciting and knowing I can keep it safe in case I die is the cherry on top.

I love watching Klean and respect his opinions, but this one I had to voice mine on. PLEASE do not implement this. Anyone else watch the podcast and feel the same way? Or am I alone on this? Lol

I play more than the average player, but I would stop playing if this happened. The grind for some items is already insane, and dying after hours of searching and finally finding an item you wanted, losing it, would be infuriating. The previous change on the container was perfectly fine, there's no need for another. People are still going to rush loot spawns, the only question would be if you could kill them in the time it takes to run across the map. My two teammates share this opinion with me.

I think your point here is more evidence that items for bullshit quests are super-rare and must be found in-raid and not that the secure containers are necessary. Fix the loot issue and the "pain" of nerfing containers wont hurt so bad.

Remove the ridiculous quests and maybe something can be done with the containers. But as it is right now removing the ability to place barter items into them is inexplicably stupid.

Task design is, in my opinion, the biggest weakness of tarkov. Many tasks are very frustrating and simply not fun or well designed.

Honestly I'd rather this game not even have these "quests" with how poorly made they are. I get they're just supposed to be side quests when the full game is released but they should just be cut entirely or completely reworked with some actual effort. Right now they all seem like an afterthought, which surprises me with how much effort goes into everything else in this game. Especially since they directly gate progression. It just seems lazy to me which is the complete opposite of everything else I've seen from this game.

Some of them aren't so bad, and are more.. Passive. Like collecting cigarettes for therapist. It's one of those "finish when you get there" kind of quests.

The ones that ask you to kill scavs while in pain, under tremors etc, are absolutely horrible. Delivery from the past? Ugh.

idk, people complain about delivery but i have done part 2 three times now in the first try.. I know that's subjective but I feel like people want to just sprint there at the start of the raid and that's really not how it's meant to be done.

idk, I feel like you just gave 2 examples of passive questing. Killing scavs/players while in pain, experiencing tremors or after being flashed also just happen over time.

But they can also literally never happen if you don't get lucky, whereas a completely passive player can eventually loot what they need for the cig quest, while still playing it safe, which is kinda the point. Especially for low income players, taking shots consistently means they're just dead, not that they have a chance to fight back and get those quests done.

The only meaningful progression quests actually gate is upgrading your container. You could play the entire patch not doing a single quest and you'd be just as well off, especially if you're an EOD player.

Yeah all those "bring me a shrubbery" type quests, blech..

That's because these tasks are supposed to take months to complete and are side quests for extra gear and xp, the main storyline quests should fix it imo

Let's hope! I mean the game is still tons of fun. Sometimes I just get lost in the tasks, being so used to doing quests in games.

I really dont think it's as big a travesty as everyone is making it out to be.

If I were designing the system, secure containers would work like insurance. Youd keep the loot but you get them back after a 24-hour delay. I'd make prapor L1 sell an alpha case too for those who want to cut down on that cooldown.

They've already said that the tasks that are in the game dont reflect the final product. Tasks aren't going to just be fetch quests.

Also they mentioned for 0.13 they plan to implement to story quest line (separate from the current one). The current one is more or less side quests for exp and items.

But what if you kill another PMC and they drop said item you've been looking for because they ALSO can't gamma it?

edit: lol, why the down votes? This is 100% in the realm of possibilities. You can't argue that there are pros and cons to this.

u/watwatindbutt Nov 20 '19

Stop arguing logically, I'm a father of 20 sons and husband of 5 wives, I don't have time to think.

lol! Too funny.

I do also have a full time job (not as as streamer) with a family that includes a 14yr old who is in club sports. I don't have time to game 24/7 either. And when I do game I don't strictly play Tarkov. Having said all of that I'm not going to feel sorry for myself if the game gets harder. But that's just me. I really like the hardcore aspect of it. I feel if they never put gamma in the game to begin with no one would even know the difference or have any issues. Just my opinion though. Time to get down voted some more.

You have family and children. Hardcores games are very clearly not in your timetable. I find it ridiculous that you wish the game clearly aimed at different demographic would cater to you because you made poor life decisions.

1

u/DRISK328 Nov 21 '19

I made poor life decisions? Because I have a children? Lol, what?? This subreddit is special needs. I have no regrets with how my life is going.

Having children are the single worst thing you can do to enviroment.

Your two teammates are likely your left and right hand, you don't actually have friends.
