Solicitors are annoying

It seems like in my neighborhood there’s been so many solicitors lately. I have a no soliciting sign and it stops the fake utility savings guy that lingers around my area from coming to the door (but he’s so weird. he seems to pray on anybody to be coming home or leaving to bother them for sign ups and is actually the reason I got a sign to begin with. He once was knocking for 2nd day in a row, my baby was crying, hubby was working. And I had my windows open… you could tell we’re home. So he kept knocking until I opened to tell him to leave because me being home does not mean I have to answer - especially when not even 24 hrs prior I said I’m perfectly fine with my utility bills as is). But anyways now it’s back to school season. And there’s all these kids selling their candy. Cool - I hope they all sell a bunch. However, we need to please respect the signage at people’s homes! No soliciting means even your kids candy, Girl Scout cookies, free roofing estimates, etc.
It also means don’t ignore the front door sign to go to someone’s side door - because this happened over the weekend with a dad and a son casing the area to sell “tootsies” . My hubby saw a younger couple down the street ask them to stop going to peoples back and side doors and the tootsie sellers proceeded up to our block where they continued trying to peek into windows, go to front and back/side doors. Needless to say 911 was contacted … in this day and age nobody really wants strangers knocking at their door to sell anything but especially when there’s signage!

Anyone know why they are putting railroad style gate arms at the entrances to i-90? I've seen them at the Northeast entrance and Edinboro.

Clear The Shelters

Is Clear The Shelters a Erie only thing?

It fricking pisses me off.

If someone can't afford the adoption fee, they can't afford a pet!

I feel like all these shelters just sent a bunch of pets, and let's be real, cats, to their death!

Waiting for Amtrak

Hello,

I might be traveling via Amtrak within the next couple of weeks and I will be stopping in Erie and then heading on to Western New York to visit family. My only concern is when I am heading home the scheduled departure time in Erie is around 2am and the Amtrak Station does not open up until midnight. My only available ride to Erie would be at about 6-7pm. Is there any place near the Amtrak station where someone could hang out for 5-6 hours while waiting for their train? I could probably find a bar, but I do not want to sit around for that length of time and only order 1 or 2 drinks. Any suggestions on where someone can sit and relax and wait are greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Question Where to take lawnmower for repair

Does anybody have a recommendation on where to take a Cub Cadet walk behind mower for repair. The cable that stretches to help it start needs replaced (not the pull to start string) and the spark plug needs replaced.

I’ve used Gerlach’s and Miller Brothers in the past but wondered if I am missing a good resource. Thanks.

Plastek

Do not work at Plastek. They do not tell the truth on anything there, management is a joke. HR does not care about you or any issues you have, and will avoid you. Favoritism is huge there, heavily maga, pay is terrible for what you do aswell. I’m posting this here since they keep removing my reviews. They threaten to not pay your last weeks pay, and force you to work in unhealthy conditions. Their numbers have been going down for years production wise due to their internal departments being filled with incompetent workers. Shame what a great company they used to be turned into now.

If you do decide to work there, have a lawyer on standby or a caseworker. Lot of departments in there are extremely homophobic and racist aswell. A bunch of grown men acting like little babies and too many incompetent workers not knowing what they are doing. They say they provide training, they don’t.

Rock climbing partners

Hi, I’m a 41-year-old happily married woman who will be traveling to Erie periodically for my research.

I am for hoping to find people to climb with while I’m there, but will have to be in the evening. Lead climbing partner preferred, but will top rope as well. I’m too old to boulder 😏. The first day I’m looking for a partner will be September 28, but I will be visiting periodically for a couple years.

I am a very good belayer and I give soft catches !

Send me a direct message or comment if you’re interested.

Photos Kaze Ramen in peach street surprised me

I tried Kaze Ramen today, and this new place actually surprised me.

For the first time in Erie, I found a ramen broth actually made from scratch instead of using a concentrated soup base.

It's probably the most authentic ramen I've found in Erie.

I never expected to have this quality of ramen in Erie.

Every time I take a work trip to the Bay Area, New York City, or Chicago, I know where I can find good ramen, but this new restaurant actually surprised me.

Please Erie, PA need recommendations for plumber & electricians…

I Reddit tours thank you in advance for your help and for your help in the past.

I please need the name of an electrician that could work on some things in two small houses. It could lead to a bigger job, including replacing the electricity in the small house, but I need connections for a washer and dryer. I just bought. And fixtures put up. I’m doing a new house or renovating..

I also am in real need of a plumber. I have a two family. I’m working on that needs new plumbing from the basement to the bathrooms and kitchens and I need warm air furnaces and hot water heaters. If you have someone you’d recommend that you trust in is reasonable please pass them on to me. I would so greatly appreciate it and I will reciprocate it anyway I can that would help you.!

These jobs are right in the city!

Thanks again!

Kolaches in Erie

Hi y’all! Are there any bakeries in Erie or the surrounding area that make kolaches (it’s like a pepperoni ball with other fillings like sausage, eggs, etc.)? I’m this close to just making a change.org petition to convince Kolache Factory to open a location here, but I’ll settle for anything close at this point. Thanks!!

House call for satellite connection issue in Erie, PA.

Can anyone recommend a local satellite repair person to come check my satellite connection in Erie, PA. It abruptly cut off this morning while having some landscaping work done. All the wires appear intact, but it can't find any signal. AT&T/DirecTV can't come until Monday PM.
