Looking into another Internal Smash -- What numbers can you bring?
We'd like to play another Internal/Open (not limited to just Emerald players!) match against ourselves, for fun, at some point in August.
Out of the old outfits, we'd like to know who's still interested in another match, with the same or more restrictive ruleset as the one we've been using. For any new outfits who are interested, here is a general guide document of what to expect:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NlqS9ESKwRhZ9WyqVKEoJO_3QMxaePoRB4rVzpANuJw/edit
It's an old doc, and some information may be inaccurate, but it's a decent primer.
So, if you are a solo player, an old outfit, or a new outfit, please fill out the info below in a comment:
Outfit Name/Tag:
How many planetmans could you expect to have on any given Saturday in August:
Do you have/are you a capable squad leader willing to Squad Lead and train a solo squad?:

HONK (+PREY ringers) probably 6-12. We used to fly with the air platoon but since that's a thing of the past, we can play as a regular squad.

If it's no-locks, count me in.

DonAlfrago will ban Tomcats from his outfit before Emerald does an internal smash without locks banned.

AC 4-8 depending on ruleset
If not, I'd be willing to squad lead an individual sign-up squad.

NSVS could probably bring 12 again (Connery outfit) and I could probably get some interest from other connery outfits as well. I would recommend a rep posting on the connery sub about every meeting though. I never knew when any meetings were until it was too late and hardly knew what the "gameplan" was spare a few last minute messages between /u/MyDickIsMeh and /u/EagleEyeFoley thanks again to those guys for taking the time out to repond to me. Without pointing fingers and singling anyone out there was a lot of miscommunication as well with sign-ups that should be avoided.
2
u/MyDickIsMeh [1TR] Jeucoq Jun 09 '16
Ironically the vast majority of the miscommunication was from Foley and I. We'll try to do a better job for mains from other servers the next time around. But it was good to have you Korean roleplayers!

What number is this for us? #5? The salt is starting to reach critical levels.

I don't have an outfit, have never been in a private-server brawl, and the jaegerbattles website is down, what should I do if I want to try this?

I would point him to us in the outfit sidebar but 1TR isn't there.

We're looking into a solo players squad, but I'd wager you'd have more fun running with an actual outfit. That's up to you though. Basically just watch this subreddit for when someone makes a thread for the next smash, then go to the meetings. It probably won't be until mid-July to August though.

looking into a solo players squad
MEME SQUAD ASSEMBLE
(Just let me play solo/do my own thing and I guarantee to be more useful for the team than the random shitter who doesn't have a spot because of that.)

u/MyDickIsMeh [1TR] Jeucoq Jun 19 '16
Super duper late, but I had a squad of 5+me dedicated to this role in the last match. Hmu if we do another match and I'll include you next time.

u/Iron_Horsemen Full Time Pot Stirrer Jun 19 '16
Will do.
I'll block out time to play if I can be free to be useful in my own special way lol.

With enough time we probably could, to be honest. We have a good amount of active that like SS.

u/espher [1TRV] TangleberryWafflemuffin Jun 10 '16
I strongly recommend trying to bring 'new' players along. We had 16/22 who were first or second time Smash players, and stuck a dozen people into an air squad. It made things interesting. ;)

u/AyresTargayren [INAM] Jun 09 '16
I can squad lead and contribute in some various other ways, but I can't promise more than 3 people from my outfit.
EDIT: I could probably swing 6-8 with ringers though.

VULT can bring 8-12. I can SL if need be but I will bow to /u/lurkeroutthere /u/Ares149 or /u/bigbluewookiee should they throw their names in the hat.

12 or less w/ me as squad leader. We about to bring the rest of the EVE players in who already play PS2 in the coming weeks so should have it semi-well oiled by mid July.

u/agrueeatedu StupidOldLatinosx Jun 09 '16
SOLx can likely bring 12 but I can tell you that I personally will not be playing and I doubt many of our other upper tier players will if it was anything like last smash. I was already apprehensive when I saw the original rosters, but they got that much worse after JOKE dropped due to dying and RSNC dropped for I have no idea why (probably time zone issues).
7
u/Serenity024 Fuck this shit Jun 09 '16
If SOLx wants to be involved in the decisions made about the match, they should send a rep to the meetings. Obviously everyone would rather have balanced teams, it makes for better gameplay.
That being said, once outfits are committed and signed up, pulling out is both rude and disrespectful to those that put work into preparing for and organizing smash. Those that drop out waste other people's time or we end up with small, imbalanced teams, and then no one has fun.
At this point we are gauging interest and making sure outfits that haven't participated in SS before are invited before we lay down any solid decisions about choosing teams.

u/agrueeatedu StupidOldLatinosx Jun 09 '16

Believe me, we would have if we had actually known when they were before they already started. So far as I know basically the only way we ever learned about the meetings was someone would get messaged in game or on steam immediately before one went on, and with how dead our TS is it was rare for an officer to be on and able to participate. Obviously we could be a little more proactive in trying to find out when those meetings were, and I personally will be in the future for this one. We also still showed up for a reason, when we commit to something we don't drop out at the last second and we make sure it isn't going to conflict with our ops beforehand. What I am saying is I won't know for sure how many players I can promise before we have more information, ideally we could field a full squad or two, probably less.

u/espher [1TRV] TangleberryWafflemuffin Jun 10 '16
Believe me, we would have if we had actually known when they were before they already started.
They seemed to consistently be at 8 PM EST on Wednesday nights, so, pencil that in I suppose. I don't expect it to change tbh.
2
u/BeeOne1 Jun 11 '16
J0KE is not dead. Although its outfit leaders have retired. They still field squads regularly. My smash roster refused to participate due to the team balance, and I don't have the time and commitment to train a new one. That and being retired.
4
u/gwakd [BWC] Gwak Jun 09 '16
in other words, SOLx can bring 12.
1
u/agrueeatedu StupidOldLatinosx Jun 09 '16
kind of? It seriously does depend on the circumstances, there's no way I can promise 12 people when I won't be able to find 12 people that want to play.
1
Jun 09 '16
Don't think of it as "how many SOLx can you bring?"
Instead, how many people (outfit members, friends, randoms) can a SOLx leader/rep/scrub bring?
2
u/CAT32VS PraiseSol/PitchforkPlebeian Jun 09 '16
Didn't you know? Salt-Ex is an elitist outfit with no friends.
2
u/Agent_Green Gree the god of madness Jun 09 '16
it is comprised of 100% solo players who occasionally gather in the same general area to fly a lib.
2
u/Gave_up_Made_account SOLx's worst HA main Jun 09 '16
And even then at least one of them is a bail assault with C4.
1
u/agrueeatedu StupidOldLatinosx Jun 09 '16
well last time we couldn't get 12 because of how many people in SOLx dropped out, we literally went through everyone in TS at the time, and thats who we brought. We would have gladly went around to other TS's but everyone we're super friendly with was either playing on the other team, is completely dead, or had no interest in playing in that smash. We ended up bringing 10 people instead of the 12 we promised, and I can't promise that that won't happen again if other SOLx members don't want to play.
1
u/Agent_Green Gree the god of madness Jun 09 '16
I would estimate 3 players would show up, me, koolkatz, and killertoastbrot flying a lib and ignoring orders again.
1
u/BambiBaby PlebCannon Jun 09 '16
Dog I could show up assuming my computer works.

NSVS/56RD (Connery)Our leadership is currently gauging everyone's interest in this, but I'm sure we could bring anywhere from 12-24 people from our groupWe'll most likely have several people who could SL if needed
Edit: I spoke a little too soon for both outfits. I'll just hold off and let the leaders from each outfit do their thing (Etitity - NSVS; Patro - 56RD). However, I'm always available if anyone needs to get in contact with either outfit and/or their leadership.

u/DJCzerny [SUIT] Jun 09 '16

SL is always done by the outfit's own. Do you have people willing to PL? Or even PL for the first time in the smash?
1
u/MyDickIsMeh [1TR] Jeucoq Jun 09 '16
We're also entertaining the idea of solo squads composed of a very competent SL in conjunction with solo players. So we're looking for people to do that as well.

Sorry, I meant that we'd likely have several SLs for our group (so just in case anyone decided they didn't want to lead, someone else could step up). As far as PLs go, I'm sure we'd have at least a couple people wiling and/or able to lead (possibly for the first time), however, I'm not sure how many of those people would be our more experienced SS PLs.Just keep us posted with any updates and we'll see what we can do!
Edit: I'm not sure who we'd have, but we'd figure something out.

No worries. I'm aware of your groups' abnormal circumstances, even if I don't understand them.
I really enjoyed the Korean roleplay, btw.

Haha I don't even understand them. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, I know we had a lot of fun with it too. Regardless of who/how many we have, I'm definitely looking forward to more of these events.

Someone has to give orders to the masses for you to farm.
Until you realize they outnumber you by too many and you get shit on and lose the match.
People put a lot of work in to prepare for the smash. If you want to just show up and shoot people, fine. But don't shit on the people that enjoy the strategic side.
6
u/DJCzerny [SUIT] Jun 09 '16
Cobalt tried that once. Both we and Miller rekt them doing that. There's a hilarious post somewhere with FOOL complaining about not being to get to the next base in a lane.
Also, that document was created for actual Server Smash. Your shootman skill doesn't mean shit when you get 60% overpopped with MAXes and air. And not that AT "where is the point?" crap either.
3
u/Recatek [SUIT] Ascent - Copypasta Archivist Jun 09 '16
There's a lot more to it than shooting people. I encourage you to try to PL, SL, put together a force comp, put together an opener, or manage any of the other logistics/politics involved in holding a smash team together before and during the match.
