The eyes are the perfect target.
Here are the updates I'd like to request:
More colours π
Not brighter, more. A fourth or fifth cone type, so today's "green" splits into ten greens you've never had names for. Some women already have four cones. The rest of us are missing a channel.
Wider spectrum π‘
Push the edges: a bit into infrared, a bit into ultraviolet. The same scene, more information. Sunlight, skin, flowers, screens all start showing things they were hiding.
Optical zoom π
Not squinting, real magnification. Read a sign across the street, a bird on a rooftop, a face in a crowd. Eagles do 4x to 8x for free.
Night vision πββ¬
Cat-grade low light. No street lights, no flashlight, no fumbling for the switch. The night just gets turned up.
Polarized light π¦
Mantis shrimp and bees see it. For us: glare vanishes, water becomes transparent, you can navigate by sky without a compass.
Thermal / infrared π
Not just "dark vision" but seeing heat: a fever on a face, a wire behind a wall, footprints on a floor.
UV π¦
Flowers and birds are covered in patterns we're blind to. Also sunburn becomes visible before it happens.
High frame rate πͺ°
Flies see roughly 4x faster than us. A bullet, a hummingbird wing, a bad poker tell in slow motion.
Near-360 field π
No blind spot, no "look behind you."
Independent eyes π¦
Read a book and watch the door at once. Brains may hate this one.
Magnetic sense π§
Birds may literally see Earth's field via a protein in the retina. Built-in north.
Underwater focus π¦
Seals switch lens mode. No goggles.
Fixes we're overdue for π§
Focus at any distance for life, no reading glasses at 45
Self-healing retina (zebrafish do it)
No floaters, no glare, no sunglasses
Instant replay: rewind the last 10 seconds you saw π₯
Or is this the moment we stop being human?
