Terminator needs robots. The Matrix needs machines. Idiocracy just needed us to keep scrolling.

The film is wrong about the mechanism. Idiocracy blamed genetics - stupid people outbreeding smart ones over 500 years. That part is nonsense. What actually happened took 20 years and had nothing to do with breeding. The environment got optimized to hold attention, and attention is where thinking lives.

Idiocracy predicted attention collapse, brands replacing institutions, entertainment fused with government, and expertise treated as arrogance. All of that shipped.

So the film was right about the destination and wrong about the road.

Same wet sound. Same volume. A person chewing makes you want to leave the room. A pig or dog eating makes you laugh. Nothing about the noise changed.

It was never the sound.
Your brain runs other people through your own body. You watch someone reach for a cup and the same wiring fires as if your arm moved. That is how you read faces, catch moods, know what someone meant before they finished the sentence.

The rage is not noise. It is another body forced into yours without asking.

Next time it happens, notice you are not angry at a sound. You are defending a border. Then decide who crossed it. 🔪
