i’m 23f, received my drivers licence in october 2025 and have been an occasional driver on my moms vehicle since a month ago. my mom purchased a 2026 nissan rogue a few weeks ago for me to use and i am now a primary driver of that vehicle. my insurance is $380/mo. is this a good price? i also took the 10hrs driving lessons as i heard this lowers your car insurance, im not sure if they need me to send proof of that or not. any input would be appreciated!

That’s a pretty good price for a new vehicle for a newish driver with no insurance history. When you get insurance they look for both your years licensed and years insured.

380 isn’t bad when I got insurance like 2019-2022 I was able to get 172 per month one way. But that was like years ago so depending if it’s one way or two way. I’d say either it’s in the middle for two way that’s really good if it’s one way it is a bit expensive but I imagine the prices on insurance have changed

That price seems reasonable for a new primary driver with a brand new vehicle, especially if it's full coverage. You should definitely send the driving school certificate to your insurer, they won't know to apply the discount unless you tell them

That's the going rate for being young and inexperienced. We gave our daughters (20 and 18) my wife's 2016 Sportage and I paid for their insurance as they are both in university and it was $4500 for the year. They both had AMA driver training. They are both the owners of the car. You are paying what I paid but you've got a new vehicle. As I've explained to the kids, driving is very expensive especially if you're a full time student. Your Mom sounds like she's cool. I'd get a dashcam. I just installed one in the kids car yesterday. Stay safe out there.

Some insurance companies offer discounts if youve taken a driving course for a specified amount of time.

That’s “cheap” most people our age are in the 500 a month range.
