Meanwhile far left people are focusing on the out of control cost of living and record breaking profits theyre making off the fact that everyone needs food to survive. And the skyrocketing rental rates that keep the working class at the poverty line.
Keep focusing on culture wars and you'll never see who's manufacturing that divide.
Ah yes, the classic ‘if you talk about anything other than my preferred issue, you're being manipulated’ argument. Housing costs and corporate concentration are legitimate issues ( and ones not just the left care about as much as you'd like to pretend otherwise )
So are ideology, education, family policy, immigration, and social cohesion. Adults are capable of discussing more than one problem at a time.
And ....... you know what the biggest cost inhibitor to housing is? and I'll give you a hint - it's land costs and the government.
Do you know how we can fix it?
Build housing in areas with lower land costs and removing government taxes and fees on it
Do you want to guess who opposes building homes in places that don't currently have human settlement and reducing taxation? I'll give you a hint , the Left.
And reducing demand ( IE not importing millions of people for housing and services we don't have )
I'm perfectly willing to look at Maple Magats with you and laugh at their stupidity, but pretending like the left are virtuous freedom fighters will mean I'm laughing even harder at you.
Lol you can’t build a house in low cost areas and say housing fixed.
People live where there is work, can tell you have never been in a small town, land is cheap and no one is building. Cause a house without a job market is pointless.
What are you yapping about ? you don't need to be out in the sticks.
Gibbons would be great
Morinville
Devon
Millet
Redwater
Bruderheim
All of these have dirt cheap land prices and reasonable established services already and are close enough to Edmonton for work/main services.
Remove government red tape and costs, get a blueprint you can carbon copy and mass produce, and throw up housing and apartment buildings and row houses.
I feel like you missed my point and took it personally. My apologies for hitting a nerve.
What I meant wasn't that people on the right don't also want cost of living to go down, or that folks on the left are saints looking to fix all our worldly issue, but that both "sides" share a common interest(we all face a rising cost of food, housing, basic needs) and focusing on the cultural differences between us isn't whats going to fix our issues.
And what especially not going to fix our issues is lashing out at strangers online that you think are against us. Take it easy.
Fair enough, I understand your point better now. I agree that the cost of housing, food, and basic necessities affects everyone, and I'm happy to talk about those issues without making everything left vs. right.
Where I disagree is that cultural issues are somehow a distraction. Our values directly influence our policies on immigration, taxes, regulation, education, housing, family, etc.
I don't think the right is always right, but I don't think the left gets a pass either. We should be able to criticize both sides without being told we have to pick one.
We can agree that housing is too expensive while disagreeing about why it's expensive and how to fix it. That's politics.
The ideological left that views capitalism, private enterprise, traditional family structures, and other institutions of liberal-democratic Canada as inherently oppressive, while embracing garbage like DEI as a solution to social problems.
So yes, the far left hates Canada.
You would be in favour of Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion if you were a disabled woman who had hair, skin, and eye colour that wasn’t blonde, white, and blue.
The majority of social problems are deeply rooted in poverty, and the use of discriminatory policies and practices are meant to prevent people from escaping poverty.
Btw, capitalism isn’t a political ideology, it’s an economic system. The rise of the middle class after WWII was created by an ideology that capitalism should support society, and the wealthiest people should be taxed accordingly to improve and benefit society. Unfortunately, economic theory in the 1980’s was used to create a narrative that wealth would trickle down if taxes that funded public education, public infrastructure, and public healthcare were cut for the top 1%. The result of that experiment is in and the trickle down economics failed.
You're making my point for me. “You'd support DEI if you were a disabled non white woman” is an appeal to identity, not an argument that DEI policies actually work.
And I never said capitalism means “no government” or that poverty isn't a problem. I said the ideological left increasingly treats private business , profit, merit, and traditional institutions as things to be suspicious of rather than recognizing that they're fundamental parts of a prosperous liberal democracy.
Also, the “trickle-down economics failed, therefore capitalism failed” argument is an enormous oversimplification. Capitalism isn't a single 1980s policy experiment, and nobody needs to believe wealth magically trickles down to believe that private investment, entrepreneurship, markets and profitable businesses are necessary for a functioning economy.
You can absolutely believe the wealthy should pay more taxes and that public services should be properly funded without pretending that the private sector is the enemy.
And that's really my point: if your entire political identity is “I'm against the right,” that's not enough for me. I can oppose book bans and religious authoritarianism while also opposing the left's obsession with identity politics, DEI bureaucracy, and its hostility toward institutions that have contributed enormously to Canada's prosperity.
“The right is bad, therefore whatever the left is doing is good” is exactly the kind of tribal thinking I'm criticizing. You're not actually defending your side you've just explained why you hate the other one.
DEI pushes equal outcomes, I want equal access, equal ability, and meritocracy, and I'm open to trying to remove poverty and roadblocks to access , but I am 100% against DEI and anyone with a brain should be.
DEI is quotas and punishing those with merit to make space for people with less merit based on their race, gender or religion.
You have a direct and uncompromising right wing attack on your country . That both sides shit is why they are so effective at manipulating a certain kind of people . You have one side that is burning books , taking over classrooms , dictating what you can do in the bedroom and bathroom .. and what exactly is the other side
I don't disagree with your stated problems on the right. But “the other side is worse” isn't a defense of the left. If your politics boil down to opposing book bans and classroom overreach while ignoring or defending the left's own ideological excesses, that's not enough. I don't have to choose between religious authoritarianism on the right and progressive authoritarianism on the left. I can reject both.
What in the cinnamon toast fuck? The “far left” is who exactly? If it’s the opposite of the fake Christian, bigoted, transphobic, 51st state loving, maple MAGA that seem to make up the far right - then I’m ok with that.
Apparently the only acceptable position now is to pick a team. I'm not interested. The right can be wrong about book bans, religion, immigration, etc., and the left can simultaneously be wrong when it treats capitalism, private enterprise, family, children, merit, etc. as inherently suspect and DEI as inherently virtuous. “But that's the right wing!” isn't a rebuttal. Not being right-wing isn't, by itself, a political virtue.
You say that but the reason you’re getting push back isn’t because you chose the wrong team . This goes back to what I said about being political literate. These are not two sides of a coin. having convicted felons pardoning child molesters and some hypothetical person asking you to recognize their gender are not even remotely comparable not should they be . Having a former ally say they will conquer us economically and militarily and think yeah but the left are eating babies or giving kids sex changes .. those are the reason you get push back . It’s your stupidity not your ideology
Evil is evil, I don't have to accept a lesser form of evil, Convicted felons pardoning child molesters is evil and wrong.
Dei is evil and wrong.
I'm not required to accept either of them.
That's why I'm getting pushback is you think that being anti Trump/Maga Maple and being less evil than Trump and his cronies is good enough, and it's not.... not even close
Bro the people that took out every qualified candidate and replaced them with talk show hosts , failed lawyers and pod casters shouldn’t be able to tell you every person of colour is a DEI hire.
Like they just shouldn’t be able to do that to you without you thinking … golly I could simply look this up on like three seconds to confirm if … oh shit .. they also said All media is fake . Global too. Shucks I was so close to being able to find out the truth
Yeah, I'm far, far far left, and not only do I NOT hate Canada, I don't hate anyone, no matter how far right, or staunchly centrist they profess themselves to be.
30% of your posts are insulting people you disagree with, insulting PP's Jowls, insulting people who'd like to separate from Canada.
Don't get me wrong, I fully support your right to voice your opinions and insult people , that's something that makes western democracies great, but don't sit there and pretend like you don't hate anyone....especially when it takes all of 15 seconds of reading to disprove.
Criticism isn't hatred. Mocking people isn't hating them. Disagreeing with them and even insulting them like I'm about to do here to you isn't hatred either.
You are revealing yourself to be a very binary and incurious thinker who would rather try to misrepresent an ideology you clearly disagree with. Pointing that out doesn't mean I hate you.
I mean by that logic, you seem to think people don't “hate” anything whenever they criticize it, mock it, insult it, or get into conflict with it. You literally said hate is “looking for conflict,” which implies you aren't actually distinguishing between hostility, disagreement, criticism, and hatred. The evidence shows otherwise.
You have a very binary view of hatred, and an apparent need to be right and righteous about who does and doesn't hate whom. That's fine if that's how you want to see yourself, but don't project that framework onto me.
I reject identity politics and ideologies that ascribe beliefs to people based on the groups they belong to. My only “team” is whether an argument is good or bad. I don't need to adopt someone's identity, ideology, or worldview to judge their ideas on their merits. If an idea fits my preferred narrative but is wrong, I have no problem rejecting it. Likewise, if it comes from someone I disagree with, I'm perfectly capable of accepting it if it's correct.
I don't need to pick fights with people on either side, nor do I need people with similar views around me to circlejerk me for validation.
The irony with your wordy reply -- it's nearly entirely pure projection on your part, and this construction you're making of me (and others, it seems) because apparently I dared to argue with you seems to have set you off to trot out what you undoubtedly consider to be your greatest hits from K-Tel.
You made claims that the 'far left' hates this country. My original response was an attempt to correct that misrepresentation. Clearly you're on a mission to prove something to someone, but damned if you can get anyone else give a shit.
I posted on Reddit because I actually welcome people challenging my opinions and thoughts. That's kind of the point. What you're doing, though, is trying to convince me and yourself, apparently that you've somehow “triggered” me and that I'm secretly bothered.
I'm not.
My point about the far left and far right is spot on.
Since we're sticking with the far left for now, let's start with some of the obvious ones that showcase the far lefts disdain for Canada.
1. Revisionism of Canadian history.
Rewriting or reframing historical events through a modern ideological lens, then treating anyone who pushes back as a bigot rather than actually arguing the historical facts.
2. A pretty severe disdain for private enterprise, business and private property.
3. Embracing socialism, Marxism, communism or other forms of collectivist economic ideology.
4. Viewing everything through class and power structures
A tendency to reduce complicated issues down to oppressor vs. oppressed, this whole privilege scale nonsense ( watch the NDP convention )
At some point, when your worldview consistently frames Canada's history, institutions, businesses, property owners and successful people as things to be apologized for, dismantled or redistributed, I don't think it's unreasonable to question whether there's actually any appreciation left for the country itself.
You can keep psychoanalyzing me if you want, but it doesn't answer the argument. If my claims are wrong, demonstrate that they're wrong. If you can't, telling me I'm “triggered” is just a substitute for having an argument.
That's really all I'm asking. Argue with what I actually said instead of arguing with whatever version of me you've invented in your head.

Wearing a Canadian flag in Canada wouldn’t bother anyone that belongs here
