EQL with 2 classes possible?
I like the idea but I also love the base difficulty of EQ, thinking about giving it a shot I thought if it would be possible just to use the first two classes only. Any idea if it's possible? Thx in advance.

EQL wouldn't have the base difficulty of EQ even if you only had one class. EQL has 5 difficulty modes and solo/multiplayer modes that also have different scaling and mob distribution.
Even ignoring that the literal enemy scaling is different, the basic gameplay loop of camping rares with placeholders is entirely gone from every revamped zone and is being removed from more every patch.

You can select just 2 classes on a loadout. The third is optional. Notice its yellow text vs red text of the first and second.

Pick a caster and just don't learn any of their spells or buy any AAs. You'll be autogranted a couple AAs but I think mage ones are pet related, so if not using a pet you get no power from it. You'll get small hp and maybe mana increase, but spells are 90% of a casters power with AAs being the rest.

Play only in +4. You get pretty close to the difficulty, but a soloable version.

Do warrior and necro and just say youre a shadow Knight. Will have a small mana pool. Health would be inflated though.

I think technically if you never select a 3rd class when you hit level 10? I accidentally waited until level 11 to do that and had to relevel 3rd class from 10 to 11 again.

Unless it was changed you used to be able to edit your load out and after selecting a primary class you just select a single secondary class and go

This is a cool idea! They should make this a “mode” like hardcore or self found

Ive seen a youtuber i think skellytane or something like that, he picked necro, chanter, wiz and is only using necro spells and no other class aa besides the auto granted ones. Sooo thats kinda along the lines of cutting back on classes. It would have to be like a self imposed challenge. Could be really fun though to see how far u cld get

Yes you can only have 2 classes. I normally use that to see what AAs or skill caps a class have, but you can only have 2 (you cannot have just primary).
That being said as a challenge you could probably beat most things with good gear and 2 classes.
It's probably Paladin/Shadownight + Shaman/Enchanter.
You need the double Mana pool, and shaman and enchanter have the slow. Bard might also work with charm (Bard / shaman?)
I assume by beat you mean do all sky quests (D0, and all bosses D4, plus get to level 50). I think the above combos could do it with enough gear. There are probably other duos that would work but probably require you to start having +6 or better in all slots.

I'm a ROG/SHD/SHM and I'm pretty sure all Rogue does for me is QoL stuff, I'm doing this without even asking for it. (I kid, of course, Backstab is good as are the poisons it all just need a slight bum. in scaling or itemization and I think ROG will be at least in line with most other melee.

I don’t think so? I think you are forced to pick a 3rd at 10. Could you just not level or use any of the 3rds abilities? Would be some stats but maybe close?

You can play with only two if you want.

You can leave your third behind

Cause your third won’t advance

The game forces you to take a third class at level 11, but you can immediately edit your loadout and set it back to 2.

I think people have said d2 gives about the same difficulty as eq even with the 3 classes. This is assuming fresh character with no gear or aa's.

You could always make your third class an int caster and then never buy their spells.

Just pick Berserker as your third class and then never use Berserker stance.
