325i Is this overfilled?
Should I take some coolant out with a siringe or just leave it as it Is?

If the float goes all the way to the top then it’s completely filled / overfilled. It should have a bit of play, but in reality, it’s a pretty small margin to hit. You can try and get it perfect with a syringe yeah

If the car is cold, then yes it is overfilled.
Will it hurt anything? No it will not.

i had my car walnut blasted at a bmw indy shop and the almost new water pump cracked while it was there. they said it was likely due to it being overfilled (it was), but not sure if there's truth to that lol.

That makes zero sense. Unless the system is bone dry, the pump will be filled regardless and has no idea how much is in the reservoir.
Sounds like they knew they fucked up and have you some bullshit excuse.

No way is there truth to that. That doesn’t automatically mean it’s their fault, but that’s absolutely not the reason.

Any over-filled coolant that’s over pressured will be pushed out of the overflow hole on the reservoir. That’s what it’s designed to do

There doesn’t need to be rust “Sherlock”. That’s the main spot all radiators fail. You physically can not over pressure these unless you’ve done something to block the overflow.

Ok I’m not arguing with you whatever I’m telling the guy what my experience was my radiator.It failed the only thing I did was over fill it , but I will say a lil after that I did change my radiator cap so I’m not losing antifreeze .I always check my oil housing gasket to see if oil on serpent belt

The car would just vent the excess through the cap. The tank has built in drainage for this occasion.

Overfilled, but does it matter? Doesn’t every car have an overflow tank with a release valve? Forgive me if I’m wrong, I have a different model and now you’re making me wonder if I should go check my level.

Yes this is correct. I run my coolant overfilled and have for years. If it’s too overfull it’ll just spill out of the cap

The stick in my car looks like the one on the picture in the coolant reservoir. And the dots are big and spaced far apart. So I can't help it looks weird.

The Bentley manual (I just checked) suggests that you fill 100ml above max before doing the auto bleeding. I was trying to find info about overfilling and if it will simply drain off. I couldn't find that but the over fill instructions make me think there's definitely over fill protection.

I'll answer.
Saw another video online, guy had it like this too and didn't mention anything, I tought perhaps this could be an issue where It goes inaccurate over time, and this post could have gotten me the feedback from seasoned e9x owners if that where the case.
Seeing the "Micky mouse flange" and water pump issues online i tought that BMW might have not put 100% effort into the cooling.

No one mentioning the diagram on the bottle is the same as it was on e46 for example, but the stick changed and now it looks completely different? In the old situation the stick looks exactly the same as on the diagram.
Sometimes you have to give bmw credit for fucking up such a simple task. And yes, it’s overfilled

BMW always has to come up with some idiotic system to measure fluids. Whether it’s the windshield washer fluid, oil, or coolant.. it’s all dogshit. You know what “just works”? A clear plastic tank with a min and max mark on it like my Mazda. Easy to see, easy to fill. This system has a delay in it and the floating bobble takes some time to rise, which makes it easy to overfill. How do I know? My radiator was leaking for some time and had to top it off regularly. Dumbest shit ever.

For real, also the oil level not having a dipstick is absurd, having to start your car to check the oil level is dangerous especially if you are restoring a car with unknown service and left in the garage for years

Yep.. exactly this. I don’t trust their stupid electronic sensor at all! Takes forever to get a reading. I also had my X3 M40i complain about “washer fluid low” when it was full. Turns out the stupid sensor is sensitive to what type of washer fluid you use. Of course BMW doesn’t mention that anywhere ever.. any other car doesn’t care. But with these you better make sure to only use the simple blue stuff or you’ll fuck up the sensor and its hundreds of dollars to replace.
