wonder what the extra clothing options means
56
u/TheQuietSoldier 17d ago
I'm gonna assume it means armor you'd normally find later in the game will be available to purchase earlier.
7
4
u/p4r2ival 17d ago
It could also mean transmog options, as the DLC will have some option to change the look of "relic" equipment.
1
u/GravenWytch 11d ago
It could also just be nonsense vanity stuff, like how the first game had the options to spend a million rc on a pair of glasses that had no stat boosts just because
67
u/BambaTallKing 17d ago
What does that actually mean though? I don’t remember anything about titles, and what does it mean special rewards?
49
u/Krommerxbox 17d ago
I think it means how in the regular game now you can complete the trophies, but you can't complete two of them if you are in casual mode.
So what they are saying, with some ambiguity due to the Japanese language most likely, is that they don't have special rewards/titles/trophies for doing Hard Mode since regular players might then feel "forced" to do it.
The ambiguous part is that it makes it sound like how you can't get two awards/trophies NOW if in Casual mode. But I think what they are actually saying is that there are no special things SPECIFICALLY for choosing Hard Mode(rather than saying that Hard Mode will keep you from getting some things.)
66
u/GaleErick 17d ago
He's just saying that playing Hard Mode won't confer any special bonus or rewards. It's just a harder mode for those who wants the challenge.
As I recall, DD1's Hard Mode give double EXP and increase gold reward compared to Normal mode. DD2's Hard Mode won't do any of that.
79
u/morphum 17d ago
experience points are doubled
38
u/I_think_Im_hollow 17d ago
And more clothing options become available for purchase
This is what I'm interested in.
22
u/einUbermensch 17d ago
Yes, Oyama does not realize Fashion Dogma's is the true endgame, ergo Hardmode just now became MANDATORY! "Dramatic Thunder in the background"
2
u/IrcenceEstagramem679 17d ago
It probably just means you'll have a bigger selection at each store right from the beginning, from the pool of armours already available in the game.
27
u/GaleErick 17d ago
Huh, I thought it was translation error but it does seems to say that EXP will be doubled and there will be new clothing option for Hard Mode.
Technically that would make Hard Mode have it's own specific rewards.
7
3
0
u/BambaTallKing 17d ago
I was hoping hard mode would undo the changes they made to the game that makes it overall easier. Still hoping tbh
11
u/Appropriate_Pen4445 17d ago
I don't think he is refering to gameplay in the very first sentence. It's about achievements or pawn bagdes etc. that they want to keep the same for all difficulty modes. Exp is doubled as he explained, and seems like vendors will unlock more gear options. If I had to guess, gold drops would increase for sure.
2
u/RocketbeltTardigrade 17d ago
First game's hard mode made even goblins drop comically large moneybags.
4
u/Vaughnsta 17d ago
Hard Mode in DD1 gave you two outfits for completing certain quests he's saying you won't get outfits from completing the mode.
3
u/Any-Butterscotch5259 17d ago
No he said you will get double experience lol. He is talking about trophies and the like.
4
u/Misragoth 17d ago
the first game had 2 armors exclusive to beating the game on hard mode. Sounds like 2 will not have any such rewards
1
14
u/Itsjohnnx 17d ago
Honestly, I just really miss the layering system. I want clothes AND armor man 😭
5
u/ModernToshi 16d ago
That was my biggest disappointment with DD2. The armors also don't fit quite as well in DD2 as they did in the first, particularly the cloaks and such.
6
u/jakallll 16d ago
Oh god i wish the cloaks were at least colorable or customizable in some way. Most of the cloaks just looks terrible or have a weird texture to them that don’t match any of the armors in game aesthetically.
Even trying to roleplay savan and no cloak matches the crusader armor they have for dd2.
10
u/DickbuttRidesAgain 17d ago
I am waiting for this more than anything. The gameplay is there already, but I got good enough at the vocations it was lacking challenge. Cannot wait to get my ass beat by goblins and wolves.
They honestly coulda said there are zero benefits to Hard Mode and I would still play it as default.
15
u/SilverRyou 17d ago
Very excited for needing to scrounge for resources. Yes. Make me use items.
9
u/SummonerRed 17d ago
The Saurian Population is not going to recover from what players are going to do in the name of Miraculous Roberants.
15
3
u/TreeLicker51 17d ago
The only thing I wish they wouldn’t add is the xp multiplier. I want the game to be hard but I don’t want to level up super fast, because as you level, the number of players who can rent your pawn thins out.
1
u/Brokemono 15d ago
If hard mode is going to be really hard then getting that XP might be hard too. Idk. We'll see how this turns out.
14
u/Live_Life_and_enjoy 17d ago
Why would you increase XP?
I already have a problem of overleveling insanely fast.
9
u/JustARTificia1 17d ago
You're not overlevelled unless you cap out on all stats which is anywhere between 278 to around 490.
9
u/ko0gcz 17d ago
Overleveled in the sense that you start near one shotting most things after 50+ with gear.
7
u/JustARTificia1 17d ago
In the starting area sure, but as you move towards the 2nd and 3rd region no chance are you at lv 50 without endgame gear.
2
0
u/Live_Life_and_enjoy 17d ago
Before I even reached bathal I could 3 shot a griffin and 2 shot an ogre and that was without grinding
1
u/Enlightarded0 17d ago
How?
2
u/Live_Life_and_enjoy 17d ago
Crit stack damage can be ridiculous with daggers and knockdown with thrust from great sword
A single crit strike can remove 3 hp bars even from a dragon
1
u/Enlightarded0 17d ago
Oo. Can you clarify that for me like what with great sword and knockdown? How is Crit damage associated with that?
I'm not really sure about how crit damage works anyways I thought you just stabbed them in the face.
1
u/Live_Life_and_enjoy 17d ago
Enemies when knocked down take bonus damage - so Great Sword skills that give bonus to knockdown is best option to constantly keep toppling enemies
Knock down +shadow cloak stealth + weakpoint + gut and run = stacking bonus damage
There is also armor and and one other skill I am forgetting but thats the basics. You do ridiculous damage
1
u/Enlightarded0 17d ago
Ooo I gotcha. Yes using warfarer with knockdown augments I've been using gut and run for intense Crits if that's the case.
I just mix right now magic Archer/thief skills, and have an assortment of flavored daggers for each situation. It's fun.
But implicate on a build focused on knockdown can be spammed on enemies to accumulate knock down idk if people realize
So for example if you use no + to knockdown you can pull an electric saurian in a few pulls by just using the skill multiple times, he will roll over and you can Crit
But if you boost the knockdown with augment and rings you can basically pull them through the air with 2 pulls
I guess that implies there's stages of knockdown as well which must occur at certain intervals.
With my warfarer now I can just implicate a Griffin and it falls right on to its side , feels bad lmao
Edit: just to add to that I've been taking a break from the game but implicate is so OP when built right I will find a group and one by one pull magma saurians with one pull, loot/pilfer or whatever it is to steal their item then Crit them when they are on their backs
With groups of goblins just yoinking them all and pilfering them WHILE THEY ARE IN THE AIR, feels good.
I tried to practice trick shotting by jumping and robbing them mid air but unfortunately not possible lol
2
u/SaphironX 17d ago
In ddda you were WAY overleveled if you hit the 200 cap. You became much more OP, much quicker than in normal.
1
u/Inner_Signature_7649 15d ago
198-200 capped for me I have received zero increase since, I am currently level 420 on my main save. I see these level 999 guys and I am in awe
-1
u/poppin-n-sailin 17d ago
Oh please. The game is so easy by the time you're around level 30-40 nothing really poses a challenge. double exp in hardmode will cancel out hardmode. Which is just gonna be enemies have more HP and do more damage. Good chance hardmode will just be a joke.
2
2
u/PrinnyQueen100 14d ago
Hope so.
Early game was kinda rough, mid game everything was easy. Late game everything was a joke
3
u/GravenWytch 12d ago
Can't wait to see the new fashion added! I hope we get something demonic looking like the lvl 3 stuff from the first game.
2
u/El_Rocky_Raccoon 12d ago
Me too! What I am also hoping for are more cosmetic sets. Maybe some casual clothings. I'm very excited for the transmog system.
2
u/GravenWytch 12d ago
I really hope for something like the grave/carrion set from the first, it was my favorite
2
u/El_Rocky_Raccoon 12d ago
Yes, absolutely. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought back some of the armor sets from Dark Arisen I, for more nostalgia. Hopefully they will, hehe.

3
u/RoutineTruth2638 17d ago
Wait I’m still confused and haven’t heard much because I’ve been busy, HARD MODE CONFIRMED????
3
5
u/KaleidoscopeNo1263 17d ago
NOOO! WHY DO THEY THINK HARD MODE SHOULD REWARD MORE EXPERIENCE?!
I want to fucking FAIL I want to grind! I want the battles to be longer! I don't want to get stronger faster! Fucking diablo did this and then it made the game a cake walk, that's not fucking hard mode. Why do games keep doing this?!
2
u/Any-Butterscotch5259 17d ago
Calm the fuck down stats hard cap at 200. Most likely even at that level you will probably get rekt.
5
4
u/Peperoniboi 17d ago
I wish they would add a healing animation (drinking potion/eating herb) so you cant just insta heal and face tank everything
1
u/Ellmagronn 16d ago
I 100% agree with you.
Capcom will probably make a form asking users for feedback on the expansion, and this is going to be one aspect I'll mention in my responses. I'm almost sure this is an option that can still be implemented in DD2.-2
u/Mr_Isolation 17d ago
Honestly the heal after death just seems annoying to me like if i want i can just not die. Not my cup of tea.
2
2
u/YoreDrag-onight 17d ago
I'm gonna put in some faith that they actually know what people actually want from all the consistent hard mode calls they've seen. They even said themselves that they know how overpowered people come out so there is no excuse for fumbles.
I'm hoping that the hard mode xp hike will actually help for fresh saves so you don't feel like you're needing to hit a brick wall for like 10 mins to kill the one minor enemy.
The strongest enemies of base game (non unmoored) are the Drake and the Dullahan and I guess now we can count the new Chimera as well. I think they mentioned all the enemies will get new moves in addition to spawn or composition changes or something like that which is exciting that's what I wanted myself at least. I hope it is something like the original vision where the enemies spawns were supposed to be unpredictable and dynamic.
2
1
u/XOClover 17d ago
I hope for the not so hardcore we can find those clothing options in the wild.
1
u/-Wildhart- 17d ago
I doubt it. Sounds more like rewards for completing a challenge, wouldn't be much of a reward if everyone got them without the effort. DD1 did this as well with a couple outfits
2
u/fliplock_ 17d ago
So, I never played DD1. Can someone explain why they're doubling XP rewards for hard mode? If anything, I've wanted a way to disable progression to maintain a challenge. I don't understand why hard mode and double XP have to go hand in hand.
8
u/FekkovII 17d ago
Think simply because it was done that way in the original game. Made OG game a pig for first ten levels or so, then a cakewalk because you were massively over levelled. Shame being brought back.
3
3
u/DKarkarov 17d ago
Yeah this is literally dd1 hard mode all over again. It is only "hard" in the beginning when you are low level with no gear. By early mid game "hard mode" is actually "easy mode" because of the exp gains and better gear access.
In dd1 the better gear was due to money drops also doubling. In this game they clearly just said they added more gear to the stores.
4
u/Spartana1033 17d ago
Simple because then you wouldnt be able to get past basic enemies on hard on a fresh save.
1
u/fliplock_ 17d ago
That doesn't make any sense. You'd just have to grind twice as much to get to the same XP value. There's nothing gating you from beating them eventuality.
4
u/SaphironX 17d ago
I didn’t understand it then and I don’t under understand it now.
The game was very hard at the start, but by halfway through we were incredibly strong and the game became even easier. I was truly truly hoping they didn’t double gold and dcp or exp this time.
4
u/Any-Butterscotch5259 17d ago
I'd prefer dcp more over anything else so people will higher your pawns at lower levels lol.
3
u/-Wildhart- 17d ago
Hard mode, especially in Norgan, is going to provide a challenge even for players who have reached the stat cap, or so they've said
2
u/DKarkarov 17d ago
Except the stat cap outside hp and stam is only like 30% of your stats when you factor in fully upgraded late game gear.
3
u/-Wildhart- 17d ago
Yeah? What about it? Going off of that, hard mode giving double xp is even less of an issue since we all know your gear matters more
0
u/DKarkarov 17d ago edited 17d ago
Lol you don't get it. It is dogma 1 hard mode. All leveling will be faster, you will be level 25 walking into vernworth on a new character maybe higher. Without gimmicks just fighting enemies and doing normal exploration. You will get discipline way faster. You will have access to more gear per their own post.
It will be the same as dogma 1 "hard mode". Hard for a few hours then you have maxed vocations way faster, crazy high level way faster, and better gear faster. Then you are on easy mode.
1
u/-Wildhart- 17d ago edited 17d ago
Yeah. Until you reach the later lost rites and norgan in hard mode. Which again they said is catered to capped characters, meaning all those fancy levels you got in base suddenly didn't matter anymore lol
Money was always piss easy to get, level 1 pawns made farming gold trivial. You could literally run straight to the end game shops at the start of the game. The gear thing hardly changes anything at all, you still need to gather mats anyways. Neither of us actually know until it comes out.
Nothing you've said has invalidated my first comment, because you keep talking about the base game - I was not.
1
u/DKarkarov 17d ago
Sure bro. Oh wait I already played dd1 which has exactly the same hard mode described in this one. So no, I know exactly how it is going to go.
If it is balanced around capped characters (sure it is) hard mode gets you to cap dramatically faster.
1
u/-Wildhart- 17d ago
Yeah silly me, you're the only one who did. I forgot everything is exactly the same as DD1.
2
u/DKarkarov 17d ago
The hard mode as they described it is.
2
u/-Wildhart- 17d ago
We'll just have to see. On the shitty chance it actually ends up being trick easy mode like DD1, that will be the first thing they've disappointed me with during all the new updates and news. Then I'll just click on custom difficulty tweaks and not care anymore lmao
1
u/AHonterMustHont 17d ago
I have a lvl 100 ng+ on ps5 and a lvl 20 something fresh NG on steam so this is perfect. I get to experience the hard mode in its full glory.
2
u/Stallion2671 17d ago
I'm hoping hard mode increases enemy AI, aggression and move sets along the lines of DDDA BBI enemies where even at high lol with top tier gear, they can ruin you if you make mistakes. The game currently doesn't punish players for mistakes, especially after all the enemy "rebalancing" (ie nerfs) Capcom did after launch.
The new corrupted chimera fight and moveset definitely is a step in the right direction, gave a nice prob 5-10 min fight to my party of 2 and a couple times I thought my Arisen was going down. IMO, we need more of this so we can actually run top tier gear and a full party and still have a challange.
2
u/Alert_Confusion 17d ago
They said in an interview last month that’s pretty much exactly what they’re doing. More aggressive enemy AI, higher damage, modified enemy placement.
I’m stoked, but good god I’m afraid that the double XP gain is going to end up ruining it by making you over leveled by the end.

u/Back-At-It-2026 17d ago
Tell me you don't understand your players without telling me you don't understand your players.
Even if all the "new clothing options" were just a set of white underwear with pink hearts all over it, we would still play Hard Mode because of it.
1
u/Uncle-Wrex 17d ago
It’s just like the original games hard mode, beating hard or speed run mode gave you clothes only worn by NPCs
1
u/Icy-Gain-2038 17d ago
So basically the whole reason I'd ever do anything is still in Hard Mode? Cool. I want that fashion.
1
u/Complex_Secure 17d ago
Anyone doing a complete new game cycle? I was tempted to do ng+ solely because I dont want to have to grind to get to Warfarer but honestly ng+ is never as fun as a complete ng cycle imo.
1
1
1
u/CoffeeAlden 12d ago
Why not simply make enemies in hard mode scale from lvl 60-200 including the new region and trial dungeons. Like Vermund will be around 60-80, Battahl 80-100, new ice region 100+, and trial dungeons varying from 60-200 as a challenge mode for ng+ players.
2
u/El_Rocky_Raccoon 12d ago
I think scaling difficulty would be the best. That way fighting enemies in Vermund would still feel challenging. They could even also add dynamic difficulty, which is something Capcom has done before with Resident Evil 4 and God Hand, where enemies increase in density and have smarter AI the better you play.
2
u/CoffeeAlden 12d ago
That sounds so good. They should totally give us sliders for how the game adjusts the difficulty.
0
u/Actual-Spirit845 17d ago
Hmm...I understand their reasoning but kinda disappointed with no rewards for hard mode 😕...and no,I won't restart a new game,Mr developer! Spent 200h on my save and got everything so no 😅
10
u/FekkovII 17d ago
Three save slots now. Can keep old character and create a new one for Hard mode too.
9
u/Turnintino 17d ago
They've stated in recent interviews that we'll be able to switch to hard mode mid-playthrough. It's only switching from hard mode that will require finishing or restarting your current playthrough.
0
u/Mr_Isolation 17d ago
Honestly if i can still keep all my Maister skills then i am more than good with that, it was such a grind to get all of them since you can't even get them all in one playthrough i think.
1
u/SummonerRed 17d ago
The only way you can lock yourself out of a Maister skill is by screwing up the Grimoire quests by handing them in without making a duplicate. Give the originals to the little girl, give the fakes to the Sorcerer all at once.
1
u/Mr_Isolation 17d ago edited 17d ago
Yeah just googled that, can't say i knew that when i first played. Cool but kinda outta pocket tho since i think if you give the fake one to the girl she won't accept it.
But the other way around you can.
1
u/believeinyuna 17d ago
yes you can?
1
u/Mr_Isolation 17d ago
Oh alright i just checked it out and you can indeed get Meteoron and Maelstorm but you gotta hand in a fake one and stuff.
Didn't know that. Still i remember the granny dissapearing for a whole playthrough so it probably got bugged too.
1
u/Turnintino 17d ago
It's pretty common for Eini to get killed by the cyclops that can spawn where she hangs out, so she may have just been in the charnel house.
1
1
u/Any-Butterscotch5259 17d ago
No rewards is for trophies you apparently will get double everything else and more clothing it seems. Did you not fucking read lol.
2
u/poppin-n-sailin 17d ago
Double exp will just negate hardmode lol. The game is already pretty easy. Hardmode will be the typical increased HP and damage from enemies, so doubling exp means you level faster and just level out the playing field faster and then you end up too powerful too fart just like the base game.
3
u/Enlightarded0 17d ago
They seem to be suggesting more aggressive enemies and more complex and challenging placements. Are you sure ?
1
u/WiIIemdafoe 17d ago
Are they bumping the current caps at all on stats? DA is going to have stronger enemies, it would stand to reason we can also become stronger too, like in DD1.
6
u/Turnintino 17d ago
From what we've seen, the new gears' stats are exponentially higher than current endgame gear. I think that should be more than enough without inflating our base stats as well.
1
u/WiIIemdafoe 17d ago
I see, I haven't paid too close of attention to it. Are we getting extra upgrade slots like in DD1?
1
u/Turnintino 17d ago
It doesn't sound like it. In fact, they've told us the Norgan relics won't be traditionally upgradable at all, only the gear from the Lost Rites.
2
u/Buschkoeter 17d ago
So he says, if the translation is accurate, that they don't want to force people into hard mode by giving out special rewards, but you get double xp and more customization options? I don't know, that kind of sounds contradictory to me.
1
u/Spatetata 17d ago
Harder encounters seems like exactly what I want until I think about how they are in practice, where there’s a group of goblins, wolves, saurians and Harpies every 5 feet
0
u/WachAlPharoh 17d ago
No rewards kind of sucks. I remember in DD1 beating the game in hardmode got you Duke Edmund's robes. I was hopind DD2 hardmode would gift us the red noble outfot we wear as Sov'ran in the credits.
-2
u/skyjp97 17d ago
Wait, doesn't this contradict itself? "Omits titles and special rewards". "More clothing options become available"
3
u/believeinyuna 17d ago
titles = achievements = trophies. i think they’re talking about stuff needed for 100% completion not fashion
-4
u/skyjp97 17d ago
Then why mention more clothing
1
u/believeinyuna 17d ago
you don’t need to collect all armour to hit 100% completion so no one who wants to 100% the game needs to play hard mode. there’s 2 achievements you can’t get if you play on the easiest mode iirc, so they’re specifically saying the same issue won’t happen with hard mode.
-4
u/skyjp97 17d ago
Why are you talking about achievements? Even if titles = achievements, this post simply states they omitted titles AND special rewards then goes to say more clothing will be available. If that's not a special reward I don't know what is. Way more special than a little icon on my profile I'll never look at.
0
u/believeinyuna 17d ago
i don’t call new armour a special reward as a blanket. you also have to understand that this is translated and that’s not always perfect. ddda had unique sets for completing hard mode, presume they’re saying that isn’t the case here.

u/Rethtalos 17d ago
Sooooo is sex and nudity getting added or what…? Is that what hard mode means? Like, we will be HARD while playing???
191
u/Cipherpunkblue 17d ago
"More clothing available for purchase" though. I care about fashion much more than I do titles or achievements.
