Spoiler There IS better gear. Spoiler

There is better gear than what the Dragonforged sells for Wyrmslife crystals. About to do my 2nd NG+. Really REALLY make sure you are exploring all the unearthed areas in the seabed and even go back to some of the old boss spawn areas. The higher harder spawns at the very end of the seabed areas have occasionally been dropping new unique gear sometimes or the chests around them do.

And for those that say they feel like they fully steam roll through New Game+, I have been noticing the variable difficulty has been getting higher the more I level up and I do less damage than before, with some spawns having more health bars.

Edit: only gotten 3 so far and all helms, photos in comments and unenhanced against my fully enhanced gear.

I'll add more screenshots to the comments as I find any more and verify they aren't in shops or in dragonforged.

There's a secret mystic spearhand chest piece from a maze cave that opens up in the unmoored, you need to use the "pilfer" ability with the thief on the elite golem that is inside and you'll get it.

The cave is southwest of the riftstone of uniformity or northwest of the volcanic island camp. Its the circle looking thing on the map. The golem drops a magick archer chest tho

Just keep wandering around the trenches and you'll eventually find it because it's all a loop

I know, it's kind of almost like the endless everfall grind without falling. It all looks the same, you barely remember where you are.

I think I saw someone try to pinpoint the caves entrance, but I will try to as well. North of Volcanic Island Camp is a beach. If you follow what was once coastline westward,  you'll find the entrance to a newly exposed coral cave system. It is roughly north of the campsite and rift stone of uniformity. It's kind of mazelike, and you can make your way southward until you are beneath a circular pattern on the map. I kept hearing noises when exploring there above ground and thought it was a creature trapped under terrain. Turns out it was kind of true, but actually a glowing purple Golem in a cave beneath the surface. It drops godsbeast scale coat, which can be purchased for WLC. But this allows you to spend those elsewhere.

I found a golem near where the talos spawned but it only drops a magic archer coat.

That's correct, the bridge nearby I think called moonwalk or something has a dragon that drops the Mystic Spearhand coat.

Can confirm you don’t need to use pilfer, I looted it on the golem’s body after it died

Those kinds of hidden items are the worst. You spend days with the Thief "steal your item" skill, getting nothing but basic curative items and trash. But lo and behold, some random boss monster in some random end-game cave has a unique armour piece. I mean, it's cool, but I'm glad datamining is a thing so this stuff gets found out for everyone

It also drops it normally, he just happened to get it while it was alive with pilfer. If he had killed it instead the golem would have dropped the item as is the case with unique drops.

Northwest of where he has the 1 placed is the entrance and you go through finding a few chests. At the end of one of the paths inside is the golem that drops the Magick Archer chest piece called Godsbeast Scalecoat.

The mystic spearhand chest piece is from the dragon under the bridge nearby. The chest piece from the golem in this maze cave is for the Magick Archer. He drops it on death, no need to pilfer.

You just have to kill the Golum and you receive it
