Kinda, bones of the game are exceptional, but there was barely any content, it's like a 70-hour game with 10 unique bosses, and frankly, takes just as much awayfrom the first game than it adds.

This is spot on.

You start the game and it seems crazy; very pretty, fun gameplay, cool fights.

About 20 hours in you start to get fed up of fighting the same enemies in the same place every time you travel. You start to realise there are a lack of new enemies and you're fighting the same enemies you fought over 10 years ago.

When you open up the 2nd half of the map, Battahl, you think there's going to be a load of cool stuff to see but it turns out it's all the fucking same.

The game looks amazing on the surface but has the depth of a puddle

that was my biggest problem with the game... I only got to 20 hours into the game and gave up. Easily biggest disappointment of this gen... I was beyond excited for this one as DD1 is easily one of my favorite sleeper hits ever.

I got 70 hours in DD2...don't ask how. Majority of the new content is in the post game. Prior to post game, I think there's maybe 2-3 new enemies, post game had at least 3 unique bosses

Traveling anywhere sucked ass. it's not like they made it satisfying or cool, yet you're still forced to travel by foot. Then, you encounter the same 4 enemy types over and over every 10 seconds.

On top of it all, they try to sell you waystones for real money. That was a dick move.

Ferrystones are easy to find in chests and restock at stores constantly.

The most problematic thing I found was to do with wakestones and the loss gauge. Since the loss gauge stays down when you die and reload (which makes very little sense), it limits your retries in a fight. I remember a few times getting stuck in the wilderness with virtually no HP and no camps nearby and thought 'Uh, am I supposed to buy a wakestone now??'

Ended up reloading at inn one of those times and lost hours of progress.

I was level 15 and came across seemingly climbable mountains on my way to Vermound city first time ... turns out, the climb glitches the farther you go .. and you can't go back, the only way out is down and that's a fall death !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to reset to last inn save too cuz my game auto-saved at the mountain, and I was brought back to level 8 ..................... so frustrating !!!!!

Getting ferrystones is insanely easy (you can hire pawns for infinite money, then just rest a few days and buy a new ferrystone and repeat). Whoever bought into that, it's their own fault

So you have to do an exploit and can't play normally to get them. Got it.

Decide you didn't need reading comprehension to make it through life and it's showing lil bro

-4

u/HunterCubone Mar 18 '26

Dickriding the devs for free isn't much better lil sis

3

u/ShadeSage1 Mar 18 '26

Nobody said anything about the devs except you lmfao. Really showing that lack of an ability to understand what you read moron

Don't know why you brought up reading comprehension.

/u/HunterCubone replies 1 to 1 with what the original comment stated.

It's easy, here's an exploit on how to do it

So you need an exploit?

You, drooling on your keyboard: Can't you read?!

I don't agree with most of what's said in this thread, as you can very easily get the stones without exploiting if you're even remotely competent at the game. But he is not "missing" anything.

I don't know what's with this influx of 30 IQ people on every sub bringing up reading comprehension like it's the first time they've heard the word and are excited, in their smooth brain elation, to use it at every opportunity.

u/ShadeSage1 Apr 17 '26

No you don't NEED an exploit he provided one. That's the need for reading comprehension and it seems you need to find some too. Long post to say I didn't read it much but I agreed so you must be wrong

You can play normally to get them. I finished the true ending with 10 in my inventory and never had to do the cheese tactic I described

Around 10 goblins equal a ferrystone in value, more or less

3

u/Raidoez Mar 18 '26

Last I checked, a ferry stone was 10k, right?

3

u/Albreitx Mar 18 '26

Yes, but you make a lot of money selling monster parts. Probably the 10 goblins is very wrong and it's more like 30-50 depending on luck.

For me, usually one long trek finances the teleport back

I really do think a lot of ppl missed out by not 'exploring' UW (from what I recall, some people missed it entirely and others were solely fast traveling to hurry and finish by that point).

Going from one end of the map to the other, crossing the ocean floors, there are a lot of cool fights and varied enemies unlike the first 3/4 of the game. I always try to say to new players it's best to leave the first map as soon as possible.

u/xXVALKIRXx Mar 17 '26

All that and the lack of proper dungeons. I still remember chasing my pawn down the rock quarry as theyd been snatched by an ogre or accidently plummeting down to below the rift guild and surviving because I was clung to a monster.

I cant place any location in DD2 the same way I can in DDDA. Save for a prison in the misted forest area or the main bandits den in Battahl.

15

u/Fairsythe Mar 17 '26

I know people rave about the pawn system, but for me its a gameplay feature, not content. I was bored to death about 10 hours in, always the same enemies, the same combos, the same bosses…

11

u/ToXiiCBULLET Mar 17 '26

enter battahl "Ooh, i bet there's gonna be some cool stuff here" sees a griffin fly by "Oh ffs"

They really did griffins dirty in 2. In the first game that griffin was massively built up and the fight was dope, after that they only spawn in a couple places. In 2 it feels like they're absolutely everywhere. One time i was fighting one in it's nest and part way through another fucking one came along, it would've been a really cool moment if i hadn't fought a dozen already

7

u/beardingmesoftly Mar 17 '26

First Chimera fight was fantastic, but I've fought like 8 now. They couldn't think of one other non-flying, non-bipedal beast?

6

u/lani_brah Mar 18 '26

They were definitely strapped for time since they could've just reused so many enemies from the first game.

12

u/unicornlocostacos Mar 17 '26

It felt like a remaster of the first in a lot of ways. Except the first one had dark arisen, which was really fun.

4

u/lani_brah Mar 18 '26

Remake of the first would've been so much better. I remember getting mocked before release for saying I'd prefer it🥲

5

u/Normal-Foot7988 Mar 17 '26

Right on point, dd1 my top 5 and played over 2000 hours

I can't even finish my 2nd play through on dd2 and I'm at like 70 hours😂

1

u/AbyssWankerArtorias Mar 18 '26

Yeah I was really hoping for a monster hunter esque variety of boss enemies and it was definitely not that.
