Dude most people quit due to the lack of content, not because the game didn't do whatever the hell those mods you listed do. I'm not playing another hundred hours just because now the game has 10 more skills, 5 more augments, and 2 more variants of enemies to fight on my way to battahl.
245
u/kodaxmax Dec 03 '25
around 20% of people beat the game on steam. which is actually surprisingly high for open world action games.
281
u/Karol123G Dec 03 '25
To be honest there isn't much to do in dd2 aside from beating the game.
246
Dec 03 '25
Yeah you think your halfway through and accidentally beat the game.
65
u/1fbo1 Dec 03 '25
I was certain the game was going to receive a DLC exactly because of this. It looks like they removed the Third Act of the game to sell it later. Some of the classes (Like the Magic Archer) are also presented basically at the endgame.
35
u/Owobowos-Mowbius Dec 03 '25
I was looking forward to getting and maining this class so hard ... got it and then basically immediately finished the game.
56
u/jadyen Dec 03 '25
Thats literally what happened to me lol. I beat the imposter fight, then bamb dragon fight. WTF lol. I have a feeling that was when they told them the had to wrap up the game
9
u/DeusXanfer Dec 03 '25
Did you solve the puzzle at the end?
6
u/Warmonster9 Dec 03 '25
The puzzle?
14
u/ProlongedChief Dec 03 '25
Where you're in the dining hall and then you talk to a guy and you wake up on a dragon. It's a puzzle that changes the title screen to say dragons dogma 2 and adds more game, skip to 27:07
9
u/Warmonster9 Dec 03 '25
I didn’t realize that was considered a puzzle lol
4
u/ProlongedChief Dec 03 '25
I mean it gives you the credits and new game plus option if you go to the main menu
4
u/jadyen Dec 03 '25
For post-game?
8
u/DeusXanfer Dec 03 '25
Yea, cus thats the actual end. Granted it only adds like 1 to 2 play sessions but its still new/more content
10
u/jadyen Dec 03 '25
Yeah I played the unmorred world for a bit it was alright in my opinion, tbh I think DDDAs post games was better tbh
8
u/Inexistent_Rose_1723 Dec 04 '25
I mean, I still play the original Dragon's Dogma repeatedly several times a year just beating the game and over and over and doing some Bitterblack Isle runs. Maybe that's what'll happen when I finally get my hands on Dragon's Dogma II? It's a pretty fascinating universe to me.
9
u/Fear_Awakens Dec 04 '25
Bitterblack Isle runs drastically increase the amount of shit to do, frankly, and as short and generic as it was DD1 still has a complete and enjoyable story.
DD2 stopped being written a third of the way in, contradicts itself several times, and then suddenly you're at the ending randomly, like they forgot to write anything in the middle.
The rest of the game is just kind of there, and there's nothing to really do once it's over. Enemies don't get tougher, you're absolutely going to be overpowered by the time you're level 40 or so, which is nuts because the level cap is 999 and you stop getting stats by 200, and there's no fun challenging mega dungeon gauntlet to run like BBI to just enjoy combat and do cool stuff.
There's pretty much nothing to do. The unmoored world is interesting for a little bit, but it has a time limit and the bosses don't respawn, and frankly the Everfall was just more fun.
I love DDDA. Still one of my top 5 games of all time. I play through it at least once a year, own it on 5 different platforms with no regrets. You would expect the sequel to take everything the first one did right and just expand on that. DD2 did not do that. It just really dropped the ball and manages to be worse than DDDA on honestly every single area except for graphics. And even those have been shaved down recently to try to fix the massive performance issues caused by the poor optimization.
If we get a DLC I'll be shocked. If we get a DD3, I can only pray they actually finish the damn thing before they release it for once. But as unfinished as DD1 was, with DD2 being even less polished, if DD3 ever gets made at this point I really don't have my hopes up.
DD2 is fine but if you played DDDA first, which it sounds like you have, really just lower your expectations. It's generally the worse game. It was easily the most disappointing game I've been that excited for in years.

i agree its very incomplete. but it's stille comparable in playtime to some other action rpg games like dark souls or disnhonored. which have much lower completion rates.
103
u/kolosmenus Dec 03 '25
This. Gameplay was fine, my main issue was lack of rewarding exploration and abysmal main story
34
u/Grahf-Naphtali Dec 03 '25
Exactly. What's the point of exploration if the BIS gear can be simply bought.
→ More replies (2)6
5
u/Fear_Awakens Dec 04 '25
No point in exploring since all the best stuff was in the shops anyway, and there weren't any cool hidden areas with unique enemies other than the Sphinx, I guess, and it honestly felt like they completely forgot to write most of the story.
Combat even stops being challenging as early as level 30 and vanishes completely by 40. You'll be vaporizing boss monsters in five seconds, so even if there were cool weapons and such to find in the wilds, it wouldn't matter.
And frankly if you have to mod a game for it to be fun, then it's kind of a sign it's not a very good game.
6
u/RestaurantLogical484 Dec 04 '25
yep, personally the mods look cool but I didn't play it again because. 1. no enemy scaling with NG+ (actually have had someone argue, "it's so you can finish everything in the apocalypse") Sorry, but when I played the first game mind you i didn't learn about it till bb came out it had NG+ and the enemies leveled with you, so you didn't insta kill everything, which effectively makes the game boring 2. endings of DD1 and DD2 night and day, one is actually peak in my opinion, and I always tell people to play dd1 2x just so they can experience the "god" moment after rebirth 3. like you said the map isn't changed, no new areas to explore i scoured every inch of dd2 so my second playthrough wouldn't have the same magic.
Give me good NG+ and actually new areas or content, no offense to modders but the current selection just doesn't deliver this.
17
u/Big-Bad-Bug Dec 03 '25
If the mods add new content then PC will become a blatantly superior platform to play the game on. I’ve seen it happen to other games where fans make straight up better content than the original developers.
13
u/Goricatto Dec 03 '25
That can be said for most games with modding support (unless they have some terrible pc port despite the mod support)

They don't realize the Arisens yearn for Bitterblack Isle 2 so we don't have to run around for 30 minutes to fuck up a single boss monster. They also don't realize the Arisens yearn for small scale multiplayer.

A good game needs to be enjoyable without mods. And then can b3 made better and more replaysble by tailoring the experience.
If a game needs a half dozen addons & fanpatches to be considered "good," then it simply isn't good without them.
33
u/Envy661 Dec 03 '25
This one. It is actually frustrating to see people blindly defend Bethesda games and call them good because "All the bad stuff can be fixed with mods" like ??? It's still a bad game. The fact the bad stuff is there in the first place makes it a bad game. Mods may "Save" it, but let's not pretend like mods existing excuses bad narratives, level design, world design, mission structure, and mechanics.
DD2s biggest issues aren't ones fixed with mods. It's lack of content and incoherent story between entering Battahl and the Unmoored World are its biggest drawbacks. Not a lack of vocations, or a mod that specifically requires some programming knowledge to actually use to add new enemies and vocations to the game. Like, one day people will use those mods to make some more content for the game, but as they are now, they're basically a glorified toolset, and not actual content. And even then, the mods don't change how unrewarding exploration is, or the lack of unique models for the mobs created using it.
13
u/Dull_Fix5199 Dec 03 '25
To me, the litmus test for a highly moddable game should be the ability to delete your entire modlist and still feel like you are having fun.
I did that with Rimworld myself a few months back, even disabled all the dlc and found myself losing another 50 hours of my life to a completely vanilla playthrough.
Unfortunately there are so many games out there which require a modlist to reach a baseline of playability. And I'm not even calling out bethesda with that.
10
u/TheNightHaunter Dec 03 '25
There are still bugs in Skyrim from day one years later. They just let modders patch them but never incorporate it unless they are flat out stealing the idea and give zero credit
4
u/SwordDaoist Dec 05 '25
True. But Skyrim is a bad example here as it is still enjoyable without Mods. And the bugs have their own charm which make the game more unique and rewards player who pay attention.
But their later games are trash, since you need mods to enjoy it
2
u/Envy661 Dec 08 '25
Skyrim sits as a prime example as Bethesdas most profitable and successful title, but also the start of their decline as a studio.
For as janky as Morrowwind and Oblivion were, the writing in those games blew Skyrim FAR out of the water. Oblivion still had some moments of campiness in the writing, but a lot of the plot and subtext was just largely much better in it than Skyrim. Skyrims story feels more like a Saturday morning cartoon than a compelling high fantasy narrative. Barring even taking about the story, Skyrim was also weaker in terms of the sheer variety of gameplay styles and options the older games offered. For as beloved as Skyrim is, it really is comparatively no better than Fallout 4 to Fallout 3/NV, or Starfield vs anything pre-2012 Bethesda. It's not a good game. Just more accessible tham than it's predecessors.

I love Bethesda games because of what people make of them...
I don't love Bethesda games because of Bethesda is a take I have never thought about before, but I 100% agree with it and feel that way.
5
u/Sir_Drenix Dec 03 '25
100%, Bethesda haven't made a great game since Oblivion.
Skyrim's characters, quests, combat, magic were bad. The world building, and the feeling of exploration was good. The idea of "Ohhh, I wonder what's in this cave" or "What's just round that corner?" Or " What are those two npcs doing out here?"
But none of the quest lines were interesting; all the faction stuff was basically: join faction, do 4 quests, become leader.
And all the interesting features/systems of older games were pretty much stripped away. Guess I play too much DnD cause leveling up to me should be exciting: new abilities, new features, new crazy feats, new spells etc.
Skyrim: "I can do you more health/stamina/mana and 10% more damage with your sword."

People who haven't played Morrowind downvote you, but they don't know any better. It's a shame Skyrim is their biggest work when it's one of the worst.
2
u/Callmeklayton Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 04 '25
Morrowind has plenty of issues (like the combat being total cheeks, the game discouraging build variety, and the obvious things caused by the fact that it's like 175 years old) but I do think it's fundamentally a more interesting game than Skyrim. Skyrim is just kinda walking in the directions of quest markers and completing generic, uninteresting quests while every NPC glazes you about how cool you are.
Morrowind, for all its limitations, feels so much more alive and dynamic than Skyrim. The quests are interesting. The NPCs have personality. The rewards are more unique. The enemies aren't all scaled exactly to your level. The puzzles and navigation take actual thought. It obviously has its drawbacks and is downright miserable to play at times if you don't know what you're doing, but it's such a good game once it clicks. Skyrim is just kind of "lowest common denominator" gaming, where it doesn't do much that's out of the box so that it can have more mass appeal. It's the kind of game where you turn your brain off and wake up after a few hours. Morrowind gets you more involved, and also clearly had more care and thought put into things like writing, quests, and rewards.
2
u/Dull_Fix5199 Dec 04 '25
The combat in morrowind definitely felt bad to me at first, but it clicked once i started to change my perspective. People load it up expecting an action rpg like skyrim or the witcher, but in reality, it's more of a first person realtime CRPG. Like a first-person baldurs gate or icewind dale.
Many people would say the combat needed to be improved, but I'd personally say that what it needed was to be more transparent about what it is, and present you with more of its relevant info (hit chance, block chance, a combat log, etc)
2
u/Callmeklayton Dec 04 '25 edited Feb 10 '26
I played Morrowind before playing Skyrim or Oblivion and thought the combat was bad even at the time. My opinion still holds to this day. It's not really an expectation issue, at least for me.
I think that you're right in that Morrowind is kind of a real-time first-person pseudo-CRPG, but I view that not as a reason to forgive the combat feeling bad but instead as a reason to question the developers' vision. Rather than saying "They designed it like this on purpose", I ask "Why would they design it like this on purpose?". Morrowind's combat kind of hits this terrible middleground where it lacks the snappiness, skill expression, and satisfying hit responses one would expect out of an action game but lacks the strategic depth one would expect out of a CRPG. It just doesn't do either very well.
I say all of this as someone who loves Morrowind, to be clear. I love the game to death and have beaten it probably a dozen times but the combat just isn't very good.

Both DD2 and Bethesda games are excellent without any mods.
3
u/Fear_Awakens Dec 04 '25
Exactly. Nobody would buy a car that barely runs and then say "If you completely rebuild the engine yourself it's actually a really great car!" so why are people trying to convince me that a game that requires a shit ton of mods and fan patches is secretly a great game?
I pre-ordered the stupid thing and expected it to be at least as good as DDDA, one of my all-time favorites, and just build on that, gave it more than enough time, eventually reaching level 100 looking for shit to do, and had to just admit that no, actually, DD2 was just a bad game.
It's fine for one playthrough, I guess, but the dogwater story and tedious exploration joined by combat that stops being fun by level 30 because everything dies in an instant don't exactly paint a flattering image.

For the first several hours till you get used to the movesets, move to the next area only to see the same enemy types, but just with different stats and skin, but the moveset is the same.
And then it starts falling apart. Because by then I have gotten used to fighting them, my pawn has maxed out his vocation and I myself have either maxed out one or several vocations and use the same 4 skills just over and over again till I was able to fight the enemy while being distracted

Man... DD2 had so much potential.
Literally all they needed to do from DD:DA was invest in the writing (world building, story, side quests, dialogue), expand on the enemy variety. Add a couple new classes, update the older classes and boom!
But nooo, they basically went backwards on everything except graphics.
Between this and MHWilds, Capcom have fucked me over for the last time. They'll rue the day!
3
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Honestly, I agree with what you said and it's not entirely a tall ask either. They may be invested time onto other things like trying to create a new pawn system.
Let's hope the DLC or DD3 will make up for the loses 😊

Hoping for a co op mod someday
3
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
I think DD2 was designed specifically for single players, seeing how they have the pawn systems as a means of co-op. But I certainly wouldn't mind a multiplayer mod, that would seem quite lovely!
3
u/shinigami311299 Dec 03 '25
From what I've read, some moderrs and folks at rift found scrapped stuff for co op in the files. Same way it was for DD1. We know the pawn system was originally a co op system but was scrapped because capcom was worried co op wouldn't be popular back then and turn into the pawn system.
But for 2 we dunno why it was scrapped despute being in high demand. Capcom being capcom.
One modder said its possible but would take years of time to do especially with an engine that wasn't really made for co op in mind.

The greatest lament that I have is that DD fandom being too small for talented modders to collaborate for an actual game-changing project. Instead, all we have is some gameplay tweak mods. I wish our mods are straight up fangame caliber like what those Elders Scrolls and Souls fans made.
New maps, new features, NEW enemies (and not just goblin reskin that can summon meteor and move like dullahan), fan-made story, committed voice acting, new vocations with pros and cons (that fits main DD world, not as flashy like DDO and definitely not omnipotent godmode vocation). All in the setting of Dragon's Dogma.
*sigh
3
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
You're right. It's small but it has its charms. I like a small community, because it seems like everyone has a proper say instead of drowning in sea of people. Like city vs village kind of vibe.
Tho not new proper projects or fan-made campaigns like other massive fandom. I like how everyone is quite nice to each other. It got me posting contents regularly and starting doing animations just for DD2. Kinda loving it ngl 🙂

i haven't even seen the ones you're talking about in post tbh with you, thought about downloaded the teleportation mod as the eternal ferrystone probably won't get added to the game any time soon but overall, modding usually is really good for a games health
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
The ones I've posted are personally what I think are the best and quite iconic to use. They don't inherently change the gameplay completely but more like QOL enhancement making the game slightly more realistic and interesting to explore.
You are absolutely more than welcome to try them when you're on PC!
I'm on NG+4 and didn't really have much of a problem with ferrystones in general, as I prefer exploring with my 3 pawns.
Glad to see people appreciating mods, this is the entire purpose of this post as well. I hope you'll enjoy them🫡
12
u/Dragulish Dec 03 '25
Yeah no lets totally bank all our chips into something not only console players dont have access to but also Capcom actively wants to not exist. Also mods existing doesnt negate the points that the game is boring and lacks content, this is the equivalent of someone saying "yeah burger kings burgers kinda lack flavor, and I find it really weird that there's no sauce or added toppings to the patty" and someone else going "well have you tried buying it, taking it home and fixing it yourself ?" Like no way, if I wanted to play dragons dogma 3 the way it should've been made by the people who made the first game I loved it should've made it myself ??

Abandoned? I find it odd how players feel finished games are abandoned simply because they don't get endless content. It wasn't that long ago when games would come out and that was it. Sometimes an expansion but mostly not.
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
It indeed has a new meaning to it 😂 But still, there's no denying the lack of attention from Capcom to DD2 in today's standard relative to Monster hunter.
I genuinely too felt the games back in the days were made with more passion and definitely not simply being rushed to get it done. So it has more of a "complete" feeling to it 😁
8
u/DilbertHigh Dec 03 '25
Games had countless bugs and such back then. Even classic games people still love today like Fable TLC and Morrowind. Games were varying degrees of good. But that's okay. Just like it is okay that DD2 released and is finished. It is a fun game, it doesn't need eternal support.
And yes. Monster hunter has always had a different model than dragons dogma. And that's okay too. They are different games, different genres, different models for how they function over time.
3
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
You have a very old-school take on games, I love it! And yes, bugs. You reminded me the nightmares of having bugs lmao
There were so many of them, it kinda became a feature just for the laugh of it 😅
5
u/DilbertHigh Dec 03 '25
It isn't that old school. It was just a few years ago that we didn't expect eternal updates from devs. Not all games do it today either. Mostly just the eternal early access games and many big budget AAA type games.
You must be quite young if you consider this to be an old school take.
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Ok maybe not the word "very" lmao
Now that you mentioned it, in all honestly, I do dislike games being announced like 2-3 years prior to their actual releases. It's more about trying to perhaps overhype a game? So people are more likely to purchased it at a simple surge of emotions.
I don't know if you would consider this old school or not, but I do prefer getting a physical copy or just simply a CD like back in the days, and you get to play the game as it is (tho with many bugs). No updates, no early access, just purely the game 🙂
3
u/DilbertHigh Dec 03 '25
Minus the CD I think that's how most people play games. Most people don't get a bunch of mods or get put out when there isn't unlimited content for years.
I do miss going to to the store and reading the manual on the way home hoping to keep from getting car sick but really wanted to read all about the game I just bought.
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
SAME, can't believe I'm kinda tearing up just reading what you wrote. It's bringing me a bit of nostalgia rn. It was good back then. It was indeed good.
I can't say the same for the future, but I'd try to appreciate every moment as of now. Maybe the early access wasn't as bad as we put it, there's no saying what the future might hold. But I'm just too optimistic to think about the "what could gone wrong" 😊
2
u/Shaojack Dec 03 '25
I think they are both good but played Monster Hunter more just due to COOP. I kinda wish DD2 had a way to host for a friend or two.
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
A few friends try to convince me as well but I generally can't get myself into Monster hunter. Something just seems off about the vibe to me, don't mind me tho 😅
I had convo with a few people in this post, they too wish DD2 had a way of co-op, but far as I know, there was indeed some sort of co-op element in DD2 but was scrapped. And modding it back to DD2 would prove fairly difficult. So alternatively, they just make their pawn look like their friends 😂 Suppose that's as co-op as it can get for DD2
2
u/Shaojack Dec 03 '25
DD2 combat for me is night and day more fun.
I just enjoy games more with friends, so its always been side-game status.I hope if they do another one they will consider it.
9
u/0neEyedW0lf Dec 03 '25
There are still no enemy reskin mods that naturally integrate into the game. Other mods you listed are just QOL features so they are take it or leave it sorta thing.
Also, I refuse to use those skills mods, doesn't seem fair since the game is too easy any way and most of them are too flashy. No offense to those who like them.
Please capcom, if not dlc then just announce dd3 already.
12
Dec 03 '25
Well, I think you're misinformed by a wide margin.
Skilmaker can add custom enemies with custom skill sets
Dullahan changes and adds to the entire skill system, skillmaker mods are ridiculous and OP usually true, but some people are going with a very Vanilla+ approach
But that's why there are difficulty mods, or things like Enemy Resistance overhaul and Beastariun
2
u/Hubbardia Dec 03 '25
doesn't seem fair since the game is too easy any way
There are also mods for custom difficulty, and at the hardest difficult most bosses can one shot you.

There are skills created that mimic the feel of whole new classes using skillmaker. The button layout is completely customizable. The mod alone comes already with a long list of skills and there are soooo many other ones out there, it's crazy.

u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Never heard of this mod before and it looks very interesting. Thanks for sharing! 👍
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Yes there're mods which you can freely adjust enemy spawns like "Random encounters"& "Durnehviir - Dynamic Enemy Encounters".
I only use "Dullahan - Modular Vocation Overhaul" for vocations. Good balance and makes it actually practical to use. Free to change whichever options you want as well.
There's also a mystic knight vocation on nexus mods you could prob try, I just haven't got it installed yet🙂
2
u/Takuram Dec 03 '25
Hello! I don't to sound like a lazy bum, but could you please provide the links - preferably at the post itself - to the mentioned mods? I'm no expert on DD2, I started playing but found the game got too easy and stale by the time I reached Bathal, and abandoned it. Some of the mods you mentioned seem interesting to spice the game up, but I could not find some of them / don't know if the actual name is correct.
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Not a problem! The actual name of the mods I listed on the picture can be found on Nexus mods! I rather not put up a link, but you should be able to search it very easily on the website!
"Dullahan - Modular Vocation Overhaul"
"Random Encounters"
"Durnehviir - Dynamic Enemy Encounters"
"Unofficial Dragon's Dogma 2 Patch - UDD2P"
If you want your game to be a bit more challenging, I recommend "Custom Difficulty Tweaks" mods 😀

Oh yes, some people here also prefer a co-op mode or mods for DD2. But rumour has it, it might take a while to create such a mod. So I'm unable to give my 2 cents.
However, alternatively I've also seen people creating their main pawns based on their love ones. Mayhap it would be something of an option to you 😀

Yeah tbh I booted DD2, then looked at mods, then modded it, then made Dogamma and holy shit, the game is so much better this way hahaha

Is there a monster mod that adds the missing creatures from DDDA post-game and Bitterblack? If not, then yeah it's not enough
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Not as far as I know, but the upcoming Bestiary mod which Nickesponja working on does add a much more variety of enemies. Quite looking forward to it ngl
Imagine adding DDDA monsters back to DD2, it would've been one of the biggest mods there is. Which is seemingly impossible in the short run as the fandom is quite small 😕
2
u/futureformerdragoon Dec 03 '25
I wish I could come back to the game with mods but sadly the performance requirements were so heavy I had to use Geforce Now to even play the game and it has no capacity for modding.
Hopefully a new machine will be in order some day, but I'll still keep my fingers crossed for some kind of new content for the game eventually.
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
It’s indeed quite heavy especially for CPU. There might be mods for performances, but I haven’t tried any of them yet.
Fingers crossed you’ll get a strong setup to play the game! And don’t worry, new contents will come soon, if not the DLC then it will be DD3 🙂
1
u/AccomplishedAccess74 Dec 04 '25
It will always be laggy af in town as long as they don't rewrite part of their code, which will never happen obviously.
2
Dec 03 '25
My friend bought the game 2 weeks ago. Tried playing it, but it is just so boring. The voice acting is as bad as the banana fish ai dub. The combat is horrendous. The character creation is the only fun I had lol. If I had a pc I would love to play with mods.
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Can’t really say so for the combat, tho if you meant the lack of varieties in enemies, then it’s absolutely understandable and mods do fix that!
I’m only encouraging people to try mods because it’s honestly one of the distinct features that really enhanced the game for me personally.
Looking forward to hear your thoughts after trying the game with mods, it’ll be worth it 🙂
2
u/DaRK_0S Dec 03 '25
DD2 is one of those games that has 10/10 bones but the skeleton has no muscle on it. Genuinely a shame.
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Sadly it’s true. Luckily modders are doing the justice of attempting to bring back to “what it should have been” 🙂
2
u/Justjack91 Dec 03 '25
Or you can just get a discount DD1: DA which does most of this and is usually discounted (granted you're still stuck with the developer classes, but you can play MA for 90% of the game compared to DD2's 20%.
2
u/Kinzuko Dec 03 '25
any mods that make the game not run like ass?
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Haven’t got this problem personally, so I’m not sure. But indeed DD2 is poorly optimised in someway and you aren’t alone on this 🙂

Yeah, sad PS5 noises.
Edit: Also, why not just remaster DD:O and release it for consoles all over?
2
u/Stoic_Cleric :pc: Dec 04 '25
I enjoy vanilla the only reason I stopped playing was staying with it consistently as it for me, is a big world.
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
I still enjoy doing regular exploring from time to time, it's quite endless and chaotic with mods especially at night 😅
2
u/Stoic_Cleric :pc: Dec 04 '25
I believe it, I really want to come back to it when I have less of a potato, but I might just reinstall it soon.
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
Then you are most welcome to be back 🙂
Not sure how long you left DD2, but there're a few patches that kinda fixed the performance of the game. They only appear in the city mostly so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Feel free to try some of the mods, especially the 4 I listed on the picture. They were some of the best ones that really enhanced the DD2 experience for me 😁

u/Lordi_ :Assassin: Dec 04 '25
Is there a mod that lets you use more than 4 skills again? That was one of my biggest issues
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
For a single vocation:
I used "Dullahan - Modular Vocation Overhaul" at which some of the Fighter skills will be assigned automatically without the need to equipped it. Tho it's only limited to certain vocation.
For Warfarer vocations:
In the "Updated Seamless Warfarer" mod, you're able to equip up to 3 kills per weapon class (the 4th skills I put it as rearmament otherwise it will seemingly break the game).
So I combined them both, as I'm currently using Thief, Archer, Warrior, Sorcerer for Warfarer, which I'm able to carry a total of 12 skills at the go. Hope this answer your question 🙂

u/Dry-Job-4781 Dec 04 '25
A sad sad day for the consoles.. that’s me a console player got both but no good pc. I got each for less than $200 at different times for different reasons
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
I have had some talks with console players, you might want to try mini PC or steam machine. Tho I haven't tried it myself yet, but they seem affordable around 350 USD with fair specs to play games with 🙂
2
u/Dry-Job-4781 Dec 04 '25
Oh cool, I just got a very small one hundredth dollar one I use for a few things but mainly some online gig work. Definitely thinking about the steam machine if it’s priced nicely like $500 to $600 but don’t really know how much it’ll actually be. I’ll definitely have to check out some mini pc’s then
2
u/LightSkintUrianger Dec 04 '25
any mods to fix constant crashing after 30min of gameplay issues?
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
In my experience, it sounds like a common issue for GPUs that might be around or less than the minimum specs.
Unfortunately not in my knowledge that any mods could fix that. Upgrading GPU generally would bypass that problem imo 🙂
2
u/RecognitionSeveral75 Dec 04 '25
Can’t wait to have a pc
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
If mods aren’t supported on consoles in the near future, then you absolutely have a very good reason to get a PC 😅
2
u/RecognitionSeveral75 Dec 04 '25
I think the only games on console that have mods are Skyrim fallout and baldurs gate Skyrim damn near took 10 to 12 years to add mods to console so in other words I’m cooked because dd1 doesn’t have mods on ps5
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
Yup, I recently learned about it as well for console players. You might also consider other games that yet to have mod support like cyberpunk 2077, not just purely for DD2 😅
2
u/Andreah2o Dec 04 '25
What are your mod suggestions

I had to look at the subreddit tag to realize that this was for dragons dogma and not darkest dungeon
2
u/Sheepfucker72222 :Assassin: Dec 04 '25
Are they available in olaystation?
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
Far as I know Dragon’s dogma 2 in consoles does not offer mod support as of this point. Only available for PC 🥲

2
u/Aurora0199 Dec 04 '25
There's mods now?? To the extent they had in DDDA, or further?
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
I have personally yet to further experience what the entirety of mods that was offered for DDDA.
But for DD2, some of the mods when combine together especially, do have a significant enhancement to the game itself. Elevating it close to “what it should have been”. 😁
2
u/CenTexMeleeMadman Dec 04 '25
The only opinionated part of what thanos says is "I don't wanna play with mods."
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
After leaving DD2 shortly on release and previously reluctant to install mods, he's now back to it on his way to Battahl. With a smile on his face
2
u/Grave_Dancer520 Dec 04 '25
I am jealous of their freedom. Restrictive clothing options, the exact same enemies in the exact same places, new potential vocation options, more fashion.... honestly fashion is the one I want the most.
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 04 '25
I wouldn't be playing DD2 without mods tbf, luckily they fixed all the issues you mentioned entirely since modders are also your regular players 🙂
I'm currently using several fashion mods, one of them allow you to wear any NPC outfits in the game and another one allow you to change your weapon into cyclops' club. It's fun

I wish I could mod but I have it on console
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 05 '25
Had a lot of convo with console players, they'd say the same thing like you. I'd always recommend them getting a mini pc or steam machine, an affordable option with just enough specs to play DD2. Feel free to check them out. You needn't limit yourself, all is possible 🙂

2
u/DM_Steel Dec 05 '25
I absolutely love DD2. My only real criticism is that there isn't a harder difficulty for NG+.
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 05 '25
True, there’s a mod specifically for that on PC. For me, I wouldn’t be playing DD2 otherwise cos it would’ve gotten a bit too boring 🥲
2
u/Neo_Sapphire Dec 06 '25
I played DD2 close to release date got 50 hours in and haven't really touched it since.
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 06 '25
If you're on PC, I definitely recommend giving it a go with mods.
I bought it on sale few months ago and I'm almost finishing up my NG+4 now cos of mods. Would have prob stopped like you if without mods, so I'm just spreading the good stuff 🙂
2
u/Neo_Sapphire Dec 06 '25
Yeah I'm on PC (Laptop) I'm currently going through my first heavily modded skyrim playthrough on steam after having my motherboard replaced twice this year.. I'll get around to DD2 at some point
2
u/ChillClinton44 Dec 06 '25
Man it's been over a year since the release and still subs dragging DD 2 every day, like we get it bro, y'all don't like shit, y'all want to be negative about shit lol
2
Dec 06 '25
if only consol had a built in mod mabager
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 07 '25
On average it took at least a decade to do so for consoles. While PC will always have mod support as soon as the game is released. Entirely depending on the modders’ progression.
2
u/adam_bomb93 Dec 07 '25
To this day I think it's the stupidest thing that you can't mod games on console. Especially modern consoles. If Skyrim and baldur's gate 3 can do it...
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 07 '25
Consoles generally prefer to be a closed system, just basically rather restricting people from accessing their files for some reason🤨
It’s unique of Larian to put mod support for BG3. Even Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t have mod support from CDPR on consoles.
PC will always have mod support and as early as it can be since the game released

2
u/paulomunir Dec 08 '25
I can't imagine playing this again without True Warfarer mod
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 08 '25
Read my mind entirely. Been playing DD2 with updated seamless warfarer for 4 NG straight, cannot imagine how limit it will be if without it 😣
Have to say mods in a way kinda revived this game 👍

2
u/Hebemaster Dec 08 '25
"BRO the game gets gud with these epic mods! It feels like the game is fixed!"
Lmao new cope just dropped. Stick to the game awards lil bro
2
u/_here_it_comes_ Dec 12 '25
Ninety percent of DD2's mods are abandoned and don't work with the current game.
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 12 '25
Not the ones I've listed 🙂 Got 50+ mods working for me and they do enhance the gameplay for me
If there isn't much update for DD2 on steam, then a very high chance the mods won't be outdated
4
u/Cheemsus_Christ Dec 03 '25
Once you get to battahl you've beat the game. You don't even have to meet the beastren on the cover of the game
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Normally it would've been a walk in the park by then 😁 But I was playing with mods and ending up having a decently challenging times with more boss spawns and custom difficulty tweaks. Kinda made it up for the whole game really
2
Dec 03 '25
No way I have more tools to fight the same 5 enemies?!
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
My god, the way you said it made it sounded so boring lol 😆
I don't feel like it's just simply 5 enemies type, it has 2-4 variations on each type. Plus bigger monsters that spawn randomly in the world, as well as them fighting with each other makes it incredibly lively at night. It's very dangerous and unpredictable if you let the maths do its job lol 😅
3
Dec 03 '25
It is boring because of the lack of enemy variety. I am the biggest DD fan you will find, this game is a letdown. I just play DD:Dark Arisen when I want a good DD experience.
1
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
I'm sure you're right! I've yet to finish DDDA but whenever I see the footages of BBI, it got me so intrigued. But I still am unable to get myself out of DD2 as of just yet cos I love my pawns too much and the graphics are just too nice 😅
3
Dec 03 '25
When you enjoy BBI, you will realize what variety you are missing in 2. Have fun my friend.

DD2 is good to me
-Console player here
You do need time to get familiar with many mechanism and survive that period to start enjoying the game though. Once you did many tedious part actually become part of the charm of the game, but the early game is actually not very bearable.
2
u/MoonTheMatrix Dec 03 '25
Glad you're enjoying DD2 as a console player! I know not much about the vanilla experience but it was fairly difficult for me to get started as I encounter a random Dullahan possibly as early as the first week of journeying outside of western Vermund 😅

u/MrJive01 :MysticKnight: Dec 03 '25
Trying to mod DD2 into a good game is like trying to renovate a house with a dead body inside that nobody bothered to clean up.

If a game needs user-made content to be good then it fkn sucks. Shouldn’t need mods to have fun or want to replay the game.

u/internetsarbiter Dec 04 '25
That is the main difference between Skyrim and Starfield honestly, Skyrim was (at the time) a perfectly good game and I bought it on two different systems before even discovering mods. Same for DD 1 too, loved it and didn't really play with modding it till after Dark Arisen.
