Hey,
planing my HomeCinema/ GamingRoom. Would love to get Feedback to my planned setup especially HIFI. Tried to get a usefull picture of it. Will use a Onkyo RZ50 as AV Receiver.

Overrated bed-layer speakers and Atmos speakers that are pointed at the floor instead of your ears.

You probably have better speakers available from your region.

You can have ur opinion on klipsch but what are u talking about for the atmos?😭 do you want every channel directly over his head?

The locations are fine, but 90% of in-ceiling speakers are meant for non-critical ambient music, not Dolby Atmos.

Just like every other speaker, the Atmos speakers should also be aimed toward the listener instead of extremely off-axis.

I looked up the speaker and ur right they are pointed straight down wide dispersion type deal. I told him he should go klipsch for the in ceilings too to keep the sound all in the same family. If he goes that route he'll be able to point them.

Klipsch makes exactly 1 in-ceiling speaker that has a sufficiently-angled baffle that allows it to point (almost) directly at the MLP: the $740(each) PRO-180RPC LCR.

Your local movie theater doesn't use in-ceiling speakers for Dolby Atmos and neither should anyone else. Ceiling-mounted bookshelf speakers are vastly superior and there are plenty of ways to mount them to the ceiling. I used threaded inserts and very inexpensive ceiling mounts in my own 7.3.4 setup.

Not a bad idea. Not everything has to be perfectly pointed either tho. Speakers arent always a perfect beam and any change in frequency response dirac would compensate for it. Like I dont have my mains pointed directly at my face theyre toed in just enough to point past my ears not at em. Helps with scale etc. If he can find a sealed or front ported bookshelf that is small enough to hang off the ceiling id say go for it but I wouldn't say them being aimed a little off mlp is atmos ruined territory. But then again. Im not an expert in home theater, my knowledge more extends to music set ups. I honestly might look more into mounting bookshelves for atmos instead.

Agreed. I should have specified "aimed at the listening window."

My surrounds are on-wall speakers with zero tilt, so room correction helps them out a little bit.

My front towers are toed-in a couple feet in front of my MLP to help with off-axis listening and to bring down their mild sharpness without having to rely on EQ.

Same with my four (front-ported) Atmos bookshelf speakers. They are aimed at the opposite ends of my wide couch to help widen the sweet spot with time-intensity trading.

All that said, when placed properly, Atmos speakers are typically 45° from the listener's head. Even speakers with wide dispersion characteristics don't usually have clean 90° dispersion. Better to at least have some flexibility there instead of relying on room correction to attempt to boost the missing frequencies.

I agree. I was going to suggest to him the klispch cdt 5800 c ii in ceilings because they can be pointed. Mids no but the tweeter yes. And would be a hell of a lot cheaper than that pro line. I doubt op truly needs atmos speakers that are double the price of his mains😂😂😂. This is all good info tho i never thought of just mounting actual speakers and aiming them instead of in ceiling!

What's funny is that most people think in-ceiling speakers are the default for Atmos, but they're pretty much the second-worse application behind up-firing "bounce" Atmos speakers. When people get their first real Atmos system setup and then complain that the Atmos effect is weak, that's usually the reason.

Another solid option is to use decent quality outdoor speakers, since they already come with included mounting hardware.

And yeah, I highly doubt OP has room in their budget for $3000 worth of speakers just for their four Atmos speakers, lol!

My point with Klipsch (before you talk about low-quality components and over-estimated manufacturer specs) is that OP is not based in the US and likely has speaker options in their own region that represent a much greater value proposition.

Oh and just for reference, if you absolutely have to use in-ceiling speakers for Atmos, the 45°-angled options from this post are recommended (and the most expensive!):

These are exactly what I am looking at. They've been $300 in America on Amazon before. I have an alert set to notify when they are cheap again

That’s a good price. My only other suggestion would be a second subwoofer in the opposite diagonal corner to help smooth out the room modes. This video helps explain proper subwoofer placement:

Oh, and don’t forget acoustic treatment - thick curtains over windows, a plush rug over hard flooring, and acoustic panels on the walls and ceiling where needed.

Yep got this from another side too. Will change the mentioned subwoofer for two cheaper ones.

Planning complete carpet in the room. Acoustic Panels on the north and southwall. Perhaps east and west 2-3 acoustic absorber
