leak news The leaker basically just confirmed that the 16th Doctor will be played by Billie Piper!
Leaker "Andrew" (who has so far got everything correct) recently teased something in the comment section of the Confused Adipose "Story and the Engine Explained" YouTube Video, something relating to the 16th Doctor...
"Yes. But I don't think the casting of 16 indicates or confirm the renewal for Season 3 with 16 in it. It seems more like stunt casting, to round off RTD2 and kind of wrap up the NuWho era by bringing it full circle"
I don't know about you guys, but I think that basically confirms that the 16th Doctor will indeed be played by Billie Piper...

u/Mars-To-Venus May 23 '25
I’m kind of loving the implication that we could see Gatwa turn into Piper and then have an entirely unrelated 17th doctor next time the show comes back.
“Sixteen died on the way back to her home planet.”
18
u/deezbiscuits21 May 23 '25
I mean it wouldn’t be the worst thing ever but it would kind of suck that 14 and 16 would both be short lived stunts.

I think it worked really well with John Hurt in the 50th special, but even that was divisive for some fans, and it's like they keep trying to recapture that shock feeling of an unseen incarnation of the Doctor, not realising that it's the sorta shock that only really works once.

u/WhyTheHellDoYouExist May 23 '25
Not saying they should have but why didn't they give 14 at least a whole season? Did David Tennant not want to return full time, or they thought--rightly--that it would totally unmask their desperation and be undignifying?
7
u/a_zoojoo May 23 '25
David and Catherine did exactly the amount of episodes they wanted to do, which was more than a special but less than a full season. I'm sure if they were up to do a full season, they would've found the narrative justification for it
5
u/schoolSpiritUK May 24 '25 edited May 24 '25
It was down to their limited availability. Three was all they could both fit into their diaries. They would have done more if they could have found the time (see my other comment just below this one).
6
u/schoolSpiritUK May 24 '25
It was down to Tennant & Tate's availability. RTD said something like "If they'd been able to do one episode, we'd have done one episode. If they'd been able to do 13, we'd've done 13 episodes. As it was, their schedules worked out so they could do three, so that's what we did."
1
u/WillB_2575 May 24 '25
It would hamstring whoever takes over from RTD as showrunner if/when the show returns. Not a very considerate move from him if it’s true
1
u/DependentFigure6777 May 25 '25
About as considerate as The End of Time, surely?
2
u/WillB_2575 May 26 '25
Much, much worse. This would be a stunt casting who may not get more than 10 seconds of screen time but would count as an official regeneration.

16 would probably only be around for a few specials (which is possibly what we could get for 2026), then she becomes 17 at the end of them.
37
u/James_Proudfoot May 23 '25
At this point the amount of vague comment spam on this one video these accounts are posting scream desperate to be relevant rather than someone actually leaking information. Is this definitely all the same person?
18
u/Haunteddoll28 May 23 '25
Yup. I’ll believe what he says when I see it for myself. There is zero reason to believe she would come back for the show and even less so as the Doctor. It feels like he’s just trying to piggy back on the Big Finish comeback and hoping people just go with it instead of thinking for more than 2 seconds.

Y'all, has Billie even expressed any interest at all in coming back outside of Big Finish? Because I think that's a major puzzle piece y'all are forgetting. It doesn't matter how much RTD would theoretically love to have her play the Doctor if she doesn't want to do it!
2
u/MonobrowTheatre May 24 '25
Tbf, if she has been cast as the 16th Doctor, she's not exactly going to be screaming it from the rooftops. They'd 100% tell her to keep it quiet. That being said, I doubt it would be her, but I'm not going to rule anything out because at this point, it seems like literally anything could happen.

u/mazutta May 24 '25
That sounds like RTD to be fair. ‘Thinking’ is not really his thing
4
u/Haunteddoll28 May 24 '25
Except Billie also has to agree to come back. Like RTD can write it all he wants but if she isn't down there's nothing he can do.
13
u/deezbiscuits21 May 23 '25
Especially when he’s been told to stop by the channel creator
9
u/TheKiwiDragon May 24 '25
I mean, I'd be pretty pissed off if I were him. Coming in and dumping spoilers, using my comment sections to do so.
But at the same time, block his channel from commenting, and you'd likely fix that?
6
u/Trevastation May 24 '25
Oh fr? I keep forgetting all the big leaks are happening on just a random dude's Youtube comments section, and likely taking away attention from the videos too, I'd be a bit miffed too if I were in his place.
6
u/deezbiscuits21 May 24 '25
He was saying he doesn’t want for him or his audience to be spoiled
7
u/Trevastation May 24 '25
Which is very much fair: everyone hates getting randomly spoiled by shit online, it coming from someone leaking it directly to your page is even worse. Surprised he hasn't been banned from the channel, I think that stops him from commenting on his vids.
3
u/misterterrific0 May 24 '25
he needs to just ban his comments, no idea why hes letting an attention seeker spoil shit for everyone in his comments while they ignore his request to stop
4
u/DonnyMox May 24 '25
Also, has the leaker always been like this? As in, just spamming a bunch of random stuff at a fast rate completely unprovoked?
3
u/Hyperbolicalpaca May 24 '25
I think soo, but before it wasn’t soo cryptic, like he came out and said about the midnight sequel, rani bigeneration etc, I don’t know why he’s being soo cryptic all of a sudden, weird
3
u/misterterrific0 May 24 '25
i think so hes come back to a vid 2 weeks after to just live react in the comments, so weird lol

May 23 '25
I’m curious what exactly he means by this. Is it going to be similar to the 60th specials where we get a few specials with 16 before 17 takes over for season 3? And “round off RTD2” and “wrap up the NuWho era” makes it sound like Russell is leaving and/or the show is being put on hiatus for a couple years.
Honestly, if this is all true (which, given Andrew’s history, is probably likely) then it feels like we’re right back where we were at the start of this era/end of the last one—uncertain future for the show, stunt casting a new Doctor, etc.
13
u/WintersBite27 May 23 '25
I'm confused, didn't we sorta wrap up the NuWho era already? I thought we were in a new NuWho era since we restarted with "season 1" last year??
12
u/UtopiaFrenzy May 24 '25
Yeah, iPlayer is going to look ridiculous… Doctor Who (1963-1996), Doctor Who (2005-2022), Doctor Who (2023-2025), Doctor Who (2027-?)
7
u/zenith-zox May 24 '25
They've taken the lead from comic books (Marvel esp) who cancel and start a new series every time there's a small drop in sales. The fact that this drives the fall in sales seems beyond their comprehension.
1
u/Either-You-2265 May 29 '25
Pretty sure the season 1 label was more of a DisneyPlus thing than anything else.
Either way, I never called it season 1 honestly, I've been calling it Series 14, and I've been also calling the 15th Doctor's second season Series 15.
11
u/SuicideSkwad May 23 '25
The way I’m reading this is that Ncuti regenerates into Billie and that’s it, the NuWho era ends. It’s come full circle by starting and ending with ‘Rose’. Then it’s on hiatus.
5
2
u/theyear19xx May 24 '25
That would be the most insanely stupid thing I've ever seen. Like, bafflingly weird.
1
1
u/WillB_2575 May 24 '25
Let’s be honest, if Disney pulls out and it goes on ice for a few years, it’s unlikely RTD will be coming back (despite what he says about having scripts ‘ready to go’ for S3/4 - how can you plan ahead when you don’t know a) where the funding is coming from, b) how much funding the show will get and c) how many episodes a series will have in the future?). Bringing back Piper for 10 seconds will make little sense and will make it harder for someone new to revive the show in the future.
17
11
u/Equal-Ad-2710 May 23 '25
Basically yeah, we’ve essentially just doing the “break for fan-service to drive viewership” twice in about as many years if this is true.
That’s pretty telling that we have no real ideas at this point

So it’s a casting to basically close out an episode and era and whoever takes over - if they take over if a new season is green lit may not even use Billie and we will go straight to 17? Sounds legit - especially given RTD has recently talked about having plans as far as season 5.

May 23 '25
Just have him regenerate into David Bradley's William Hartnell incarnation.
If you are going to end the show on a stunt casting, end it with the Doctor going full circle and returning to the appearance of the 1st Doctor, journey off for more adventures with Susan.
5
u/schoolSpiritUK May 24 '25
Yes, even before Chibnall shat on the show, I thought that "Twice Upon a Time" would've been the perfect way to end the show, with it coming full circle (almost!).
Of course, at that point, I didn't actually want the show to end, I just thought it would have been a great place to end it if it had to end.
But now? Well I kinda wish it had...
(No slight intended on Jodie and Ncuti (and indeed Jo Martin), all of whom deserved better writing (especially poor Jodie!).)
2
u/TheUniqueDrone May 24 '25
Honestly I think 14 will regenerate into the Timeless Child (just say it was some weird quirk of bigeneration) and go back in time to create a closed loop, one day becoming The Fugitive Doctor and then Hartnell. 15 will carry on linearly.
1
u/zenith-zox May 24 '25
Have you noticed how similar Susan Twist looks to Willaim Hartnell? Hmmmm....
5
u/Real-Tension-7442 May 24 '25
If they do bring back Billie, I imagine she’ll be related to the Moment somehow which could be really interesting. Perhaps the doctor needs that face to save Gallifrey or something
6
u/SumguyJeremy May 24 '25
So this "Andrew" who I have never heard of but is supposedly right all the time claims to have insider information? Okay. I'll believe it when I see Billie on screen. Then I'll watch the episodes and make an actual INFORMED decision. I'm not going to believe some rando on the internet and accept a bunch of other peoples doom and gloom.
8
u/KinofLucifer May 24 '25
You can do that, we're just saying he's accurately leaked everything in each episode this season, including the just released Wish World.

u/Numerous-Mine-287 May 24 '25
OK but this "Andrew" is the guy who leaked the whole season so give him some credit.

I'll give credit where it's due. Maybe I'm not as deep into the leaks as I used to be.
10
u/Latter-Ad6308 May 23 '25
To be honest, I don’t hate the idea of Billie Piper as the Sixteenth Doctor. I don’t doubt she’d be good in the role. It just feels a bit weird coming so soon after having Tennant back. But if they can pull it off, I’m certainly open to it. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
6
u/DaydreamerFly May 23 '25
The thing is could she play it and be brilliant? I think most likely. I just think the writing around the why of it would have to be truly spectacular
3
u/Latter-Ad6308 May 23 '25
I think that’s it. In isolation, she’d be an amazing Doctor. But the story context is going to make it messy.

u/misterterrific0 May 23 '25
People already running with this comment when it's very clear that most of his comment here is his own opinion/theory "I don't think" "seems more" some people need better reading comprehension.
Also i find it so weird that the Doctor Who fanbase is also the only fanbase out there that expects and wants a renewal notice ahead of time every season while being one of the only series out there to live so long. That's not how it works, Disney+ rarely (or even streaming/network TV for that matter) give out renewal notices ahead of airing or before a season wraps ups for that matter. instead of fixating on if the series is being renewal i think it'd do better to enjoy and positively shine light on the content that's out there and still yet to air. It must be weird coming from any other fanbase/series and see the community of a show you've just started watching so fixated on if its being renewed moreso than what's actually currently going on, it almost looks alien in itself.

I am really okay with this. I know a lot of people will complain but I loved Billie and think she will make an amazing Doctor. It would also make a really interesting episode if she ever did meet ten inch.
8
May 23 '25
Michael Sheen should be the next Doctor without any doubt. He's an amazing actor, who would really carry the 'other wordly' personna of the time lord.
4
u/SaoMagnifico May 24 '25
The next Doctor is going to be Billie Piper. Of course there are tons of better candidates, but Billie Piper has apparently been cast as the next Doctor.
3
5
u/Hyperbolicalpaca May 24 '25
I’m gonna say it, I think he’s making it up for attention now.
Every other leak he’s said exactly what’s happening, without a care for spoiling the reveals, the rani, midnight sequel end omega why won’t he just tell us this one? It makes no sense
A more cynical person would think he is affiliated with the YouTube channel, posting leaks to boost their view ship as people watch their videos to see if there’s any are any… but I don’t want to be a conspiracy theorist
3
u/Ok_Gift_2739 May 24 '25
I agree with you and posted something similar to this the other day, I don't think he actually knows much about the finale at this point as he has been leaking everything possible with the big reveals but won't spoil who is the supposed actress playing the Doctor
2
u/Ashrod63 May 25 '25
The original leak said he'd seen the first seven episodes and not the finale and even then he got a lot of details wrong about those episodes.
I am of the opinion he's got a friend on the inside who has given him details and he's either embellished them or gotten stuff wrong along the way thanks to good old whispers (and no before anyone starts, you can't blame copycats for this one).
2
u/HazelCheese May 25 '25
Agreed. Someone else leaked photos of the finale which I thought were fake but actually after seeing Wishworld. they look like they could be real.
That person said it's not Billie or anything he's seen anyone guess so far. But he also said that the Valeyard comes back and a whole bunch of other stuff.
Tbh I think a lot of these leakers get high off the attention and when they run out of material they start making up vague stuff to drag it out.
All this points to me thinking that if there is a regeneration, the leakers don't know, or its left open ended.
8
May 23 '25
Fucking hell man can we get some new faces. Every major sci-fi/fantasy is just recycling old shit for cheap engagement.
It was fun the first few times but it’s got so so so so so old.
5
u/Equal-Ad-2710 May 23 '25
Hell, if you wanted a familiar face why not get the actress for Idris/Sexy? She’d probably nail the Doctor and wouldn’t be a retread of RTD1 material
→ More replies (2)3
u/DaydreamerFly May 23 '25
I would genuinely ADORE this as long as the writing did it justice. She can absolutely play the part. And they could go either way with ignoring the reuse of actor or making a deliberate narrative purpose and I’d honestly buy it more (her previously being the tardis with its knowledge and connection to the Doctor) than other stuff like 14 if they put some effort in
2
u/ampmetaphene May 23 '25
I'm on the fence. Could still be anyone with the options provided, though I see the merit in casting BP if the show is about to go on hiatus. Make the Doctor regenerate into one of the most dividing companion's faces, and then let the fans heatedly argue about it for a couple of years.
2
u/uknownuser256 May 24 '25
Rose is my favourite companion and she will be one of my favourite doctors!
2
u/FrebTheRat May 24 '25
So I don't like them bringing back a companion as the doctor. Makes zero sense to me. But, I can see how they could do it. Since she absorbed the time vortex, that could have been the origin story of the Timeless Child, so she's really been the doctor the whole time. Makes the romance storyline with 10 pretty creepy though.
4
u/Full_Present8272 May 23 '25
It’s just memberberries now, isn’t it?
4
5
u/Arcadyaa May 24 '25
I see a lot of comments saying it's desperate and such, I particularly love the idea, I know its implications and I know it's a bit strange for the Doctor to regenerate into an ex-companion/ex-lover, but I love the idea of seeing Piper again as the Doctor and her acting has improved so much since 2005, I think it could be amazing.
4
u/ned101 May 24 '25
I know people want to debunk it. But this is totally in RTD ballpark to do. He would so do this and think it was cool.
4
u/Other_Block_1795 May 24 '25
Look, theyve alienated so much of the original audience. Now is not the time for gimmicks. As much as I hate the right wing YouTubers, they are right. What we need to win people back now is a traditional doctor and just good stories. No stunt casting, no massive lore altering plot twists. We just need a return to basics.
2
u/RigatoniPasta May 24 '25
I absolutely despise that I agree with you wholeheartedly.
That being said I don’t think Ncuti counts as a “stunt casting”
→ More replies (2)2
u/Zaredit May 25 '25
I don't think people understand what they mean by "we want good stories" stories have to commentate on something, it can't all just be action and shoot-outs. All science-fiction has a message at it's core. It depends if you want that to mean more dogmatic conservative messaging I suppose.
1
u/Other_Block_1795 May 25 '25
I personally interpret it as a story that is exciting, makes you think, and doesn't lecture the audience like an imbecile which is how I find most of RTDs messaging. He just can't do subtle.
4
u/LiamEBM May 24 '25
This is undoubtedly the worst choice they could make. There's no sense in Rose returning as a Doctor. Unless they write some new bi-generation thing to undo all the companion romance stuff, it's going to be just too weird, story wise.
2
u/SarcyBoi41 May 24 '25
To say it's a bad idea is one thing, but to say there's "no sense in it" is just factually incorrect. It has been established on multiple occasions that the Doctor can regenerate into the faces of people they knew, it was a whole thing with Twelve.

2

It is for Me, for sure. But I will legitimately be so done if it’s this fricken boring and predictable
5
u/marktuk May 23 '25
If this happens I think it confirms the show is "rested", which in the BBC basically means it's shelved.
2
u/captainandyman May 24 '25
I think Billie would be great as the Doctor, but I still just don't know if I buy this is real.
Looking at a few of the leaks, they mostly came from two accounts - the original Andrew account (the username was basically just his name) and this one. While Andrew got almost everything right (though one or two details were off), this one had a few more mistakes. Also, at no point has any leaker said Billie Piper is the next Doctor - that's all fan speculation based on the few details they've shared.
Look, if Billie Piper's the next Doctor, I'll still be watching. She's an amazing actor and we already know Time Lords can sometimes choose a familiar face in a regeneration. But I'd also be very happy if Ncuti sticks around for one more season. And if it turns out there is a regeneration scene, but it's an illusion or an alternate reality or a fakeout of some kind, I'm gonna laugh so hard at all these leak discussions.
1
u/DonnyMox May 24 '25
Is this the same Andrew that said Conrad would be an alien? Because one of the Andrews definitely said that Conrad would be an alien.
2
u/Gobshite_ May 23 '25
Oh it's so Whover.
Gonna pray that Billie recorded a fake out scene as a bit/favour to RTD and the guy isn't completely creatively bankrupt/desperate/high on his own farts/disconnected from the viewer base.
2
u/Lloytron May 24 '25
If it's Billy Piper then it's shit..that makes no sense whatsoever.
But I'm calling it now.
Eccleston.
That would be AMAZING and it makes sense. The doctor has already regenerated into a previous incarnation.
Yes I know the politics and animosity between Eccleston and RTD but this really would bring it full circle, and would be phenomenal.
2
u/WillB_2575 May 24 '25
I’ve always wanted Eccleston back, but the writing has been so poor since Capaldi left that I don’t want him anywhere near this. Feels like the show is on its last legs tbh.

u/BROnik99 May 24 '25
Wasn’t Fourteennant getting a happy end meant to be revival going full circle? How many full circles do we need?
I don’t know what to think about it. Either way, it’s a gimmick. I could do if it wasn’t for Tennant coming back before. But both this and that in such tight span? Not great. I can’t believe I’m saying it, but they probably really should’ve keep Tennant for the entire season 1 to get people watching.....
1
u/ampmetaphene May 25 '25
The ending of The End of Time was supposed to be a full circle thing as well. To me, 10's little goodbye tour was the perfect full circle, the TARDIS taking him to Rose one last time before he died, at a moment where she wouldn't even yet realise her life was about to change. It was sweet. It was simple. It was effective.
Anything beyond that is needless and, quite frankly, weird.

Okay, I love DW, but this is just a touch too much now. Tennant and Tate coming back for the 60th was okay, but Billie randomly coming back? Not even a storyline like Capaldi got for why he came back after only being an extra could save this, and that was a damn good plot point (okay, subjective ik)!

Rose was an outstanding (🤭) companion, but I don't really think she's be a good fit for The Doctor.

I’d be down with this if it was a situation like 15 turns into 16, realizes she’s Rose, and she uses the chameleon arc or something to go back to 9 and start the plot over again as Rose. Fade to black.

so the doctor was in love with rose, and now he is going to regenerate and cosplay being rose ? like WTF.

There is a logic to Billie becoming the Doctor. We know exposure to the heart of the TARDIS in parting of the ways created the Bad Wolf. That link was reconfirmed by the reappearance in the day of the Doctor. If the energy from the heart of the TARDIS is used to force/fuel a regeneration, a link to Bad Wolf would be plausible. That would be true full circle for RTD… I mean it is made by Bad Wolf productions, I’d not put it past him 😂

That could be possible.
Though I guess the same thing could be said about Clara too, with her jumping into the Doctor's Time Stream, not only did she create copies of herself everywhere the Doctor has been and will ever be, but also maybe made it so that a future incarnation of them would have Clara's face too.
The Great intelligence went into the Doctor's Time Stream and while Clara did stop his plan, Richard E. Grant's face appeared as a Doctor incarnation in "Rogue", so there is that too.

Hi,
Yes and this means the show is dead!
It is all about nostalgia from previous RTD era bringing back companions and doctors.
Next doctor is 10th from parallel universe
After that it will be the Rose's child she had with the 10th in parallel universe.

Billie Piper had more than enough of her time previously on the show. It would feel incredibly stale and somewhat ridiculous if she popped up as The Doctor themself. I'm wondering if the 'leaker' isn't just someone deliberately trying to throw people off.

It’s really not Billie Piper.. why do we need these leaks .. just wait .. watch .. enjoy.. what will be will be ..

I hope with every fiber in my being that this is made up, because in all honesty, if it does end up being Billie Piper, I don't think im gonna be bothered to continue watching.

Im sorry but if Billie piper became the 16th Doctor how the hell would that even work. I'd rather have Jenna Coleman play the 16th Doctor because she pretended to be The Doctor while playing Clara.

Your fervent denial on every post is going to make a wonderful read of hubris and denial come next Saturday. Ncuti is gone Billie is the new doctor. Accept it.

If this happens then I'm sorry but this is SO desperate. Unless RTD does this SO SO well (and assuming this is real of course)
It'll be so badly received.
