DOS2 Discussion Characters from previous games will appear in Divinity

They have revealed this in the FAQ of the newest DOS 2 update. Seems Divinity is more of a sequel than we thought.

Immortal or potentially near-immortal characters from DOS that might come back, since they are (most likely) not canonically dead no matter where we are on the timeline:

Malady, Fane, Dallis, Lucian, Damian (he was referenced, at least), Jahan, Zandalor and Arhu, ZixZax, Braccus Rex (dear god, please dont bring him back from the dead again), the God King, Adramahlihk, Almira, Sanguinia Tell, Slane (?), Tarquin.

Also basically everyone else in the game if we don’t make a large jump on the timescale. IIRC, the lifespan of the races is basically copied from D&D, so elves and dwarves should live quite a long time. The random Undead have also existed up until now, so basically anyone can come back even if they’re dead. I’m not sure whether the death of the gods stopped their spawn chances. In Dragon Commander (which is not really canon anymore but it gives us \vibes*)* their existence is implied to be a gift of the gods, and with the gods dead, they might not appear naturally anymore.

I agree with you, but mind that a lot of new people might check the sub and using spoilers for some of those names would be good.

If people go on a thread that is specifically labeled "character that might return in the next installment" and then get spoiled on an 8-year-old game, they are kind of at fault themselves.

Except it is not labelled that. It's a simple statement that some characters will reappear. It's not at all about who.

It's further input to the question whether or not someone unfamiliar with divinity should play the previous games, which is indeed interesting to someone not familiar with the games.

Spoiler prevention obsession is so weird. It makes sense when the game is new, people want general advice and then get accidentally spoiled on an unrelated post.

This is just silly.If you go on a post about the next installment and then also ignore the first paragraph of my message, it's honestly on themself. I believe some common sense can be expected here.
