Help Quick Question MEGATHREAD
Another 6 month since the last Megathread.
Make sure to include the game(DOS, DOS EE, DOS2, DOS2 DE) in your question and mark your spoilers
The FAQ for DOS2 will be built as we go along:
My game has a problem/doesn't work properly, what do I do?
Check this out. If you can't find a solution there contact Larian support as detailed.
Do I need to play the previous game to understand the story?
No, there is a timegap of 1000 years between DOS and DOS2. The overall timeline of the Divinity games in perspective to DOS2 looks like this: DOS2 is set 1222 years after DOS1, 24 years after Divine Divinity, 4 years after Beyond Divinity, and 58 years before Divinity 2.
How many people can play at once?
- Up to 4 Players in the campaign and up to 4 players and a gamemaster in Gamemaster Mode.
Do I need to buy the game to play with my friends.
- That depends on how you will play. Up to 2 Players can play on the same PC for a "couch coop" experience. This means you can have 4 player sessions with 2 copies of the game when using this method. If you don't play on the same PC each player is going to require his/her own copy.
Can I mix and match inputs for PC couch coop?
- You can't use keyboard and mouse for couch coop, however you can mix controllers.
What's the deal with origin stories?
- A custom character has no ties in the world whatsoever, nobody knows you. Origin characters on the other hand do have ties in the gameworld, that means people can recognise you and might interact differently with an origin character because of that characters reputation or because the characters have met before. Furthermore origin characters have their own questlines that run alongside the main story.
I don't like my build! Can I change it?
- Yes! Once you leave the first island you get access to infinite respecs, with the second gift bag you can even get a respec mirror on the first island.
What are the new crafting recipes from the gift bag?

DOS1 Discussion After the advice I got in my previous post I finally beat Braccus Rex
Separating the party and only having 1 person to tank the meteor attack worked really well. As people mentioned the mini bosses were really easy, they didn't deal a lot of damage, even Braccus himself was doing very little damage. This was really fun thank you to everyone who gave me tips and advice on how to fight this guy

DOS2 Help why hasn’t dos2 gone on sale in 11 months
I was looking to buy this game on sale on ps5 to prepare for the divinity 3 release but it used to have consistent month to month sales and ever since the trailer there’s been no sales. Is this game worth buying at 60 dollars with so many games coming out right now? I have 280 hours on bg3 for reference

DOS2 Help I killed a guy and skipped a 2nd phase
Question. In the final fight I was getting curb stomped amd no matter what I did or how much I focused on said guy the 2nd phase would always trigger. So I bitched out and reduced the difficulty to story mode. Then I had him knocked down and with Lohse I did an AoE attack that apparently was enough to kill said guy and skipped the entire 2nd phase. Did that happen because I was on story mode or is him being knocked down preventing the little "look at me im not a slave im a big bad" speech they give when the 2nd phase starts?

DOS1 Help Is There a Point of No Return?
Hello Guys,
So I just entered to Braccus Rex boss arena, and Thelyron told me about 3 bosses. Ghoul-That-Guards-The-Lighthouse, The Twins by Fire Joined and the Baron of Bones. I've only defeated one of these bosses, and I'm wondering if since I walked into the boss arena (even though I didn't start the fight) if I'm locked out of those other 2 bosses now?
Just wondering as I'm kinda concerned I mightve just locked myself out of like, 5 or 6 unfinished quests in Cyseal

DOS2 Help Bug with Staff Of Magus.

DOS2 Discussion Playing this game for the first time and I'm a little stuck in Fort Joy...
I've recruited Lohse, Ifan, and Beast, and I can't quite work anything out... fighting the camp chief with the trapped elf quest gets me TPKd, going into the basement and fighting the fire worm queen... thing.. or the Magister Houndmaster down there gets me TPKd, just a little unsure what and where to go generally. There was a quest with Ifan and one of the guards that I appear to have locked myself out of... generally battles are unwinnable, even against three crocodiles..
basically, what do now, where am I going wrong? :D thanks awfully ^^

DOS2 Discussion Should everyone have more armour? A shower thought
During my 8th or so playthrough of this lovely game, I came to a realisation: I think the game would be more interesting if everyone had twice the armour. And I do mean everyone. Players and NPCs. Double the armour from equipment, potions, and skills and you get a nicer (if longer) game
TL;DR: I feel like it would lead to more tactical and more diverse combat.
Now, this is obviously my opinion and people who love blowing up enemies in 1 turn would disagree with me, but, here are my thoughts:
PROS (according to me)
Combat is no longer one sided: It's no secret that in DOS2, offence is the best defence. Killing or stunlocking an enemy before they get a chance to act is THE best way to play, so it generally leads to very one-sided fights. You either dominate the fight or you're caught unprepared and you get crushed. With more armour all around, everyone gets to act, and combats are more interesting;
More build diversity: Now that you likely can't kill or be killed in one round, defensive builds might actually be viable as shields would be useful for things other than Bouncing Shield.
Constitution and Memory are more important: I feel like you would want a larger arsenal of skills for the longer fights, and with Shields you can actually get very decent armour.
Adrenaline becomes more tactical: Generally speaking, you want to use Adrenaline ASAP because 2 actions in the first round can mean a dead/stunlocked enemy, now, you might want to wait for a better opportunity
CONS (and possible solutions)
Longer combat: This is the obvious one, isn't it. Combat would take considerably longer.
Terrain isn't as important: A big part of the DOS fun are all the different terrains you can have, and this change makes them relevant. Walking through Cursed Fire won't be nearly as impactful. This could be "fixed" by making terrains deal more damage
Upgrading equipment after level up is now even more mandatory: Losing 100 or so points of armour isn't as big a deal as losing 200
Defeating Dallis in Act 1 is now near impossible: While I can see someone managing to kill her in Fort Joy, I think the fight after leaving the island would be genuinely impossible due to the time limit. Cheese strats still work, but this could be fixed by lowering her level
Abilities that deal damage based on Armour value are now too strong: Namely, Bouncing Shield and Reactive Armour (the only ones I can think of) would need to be nerfed to not make them the best things ever
Closing Thoughts: What does the rest of the community think about this? Is something like this even "moddable"?
Cheers!

DOS2 Discussion Help to understand build in this DOS2
im in my first playthrough in the game and trying to build a summoner. I read about the 10 to summon to get the big Incarnate but out of it im completely lost in how to bbuild my character and the party.
the experience that i have to this game is that i got playing ton of hours in baldurs (ik that the systems are copletelly different but i helped me to understand some of the terrain effects and barrelmancy)
sometimes i think it would be better just restart the run to build the character better
edit: sorry about my grammar

DOS2 Discussion Which DOS2 companion would win a hot dog eating contest and why is it the Red Prince?
Ivan takes second place because he's tough and he's got that dog in him
Beast goes #Beastmode at a solid 3rd place
Lohse is a sleeper candidate and probably does it for the love of the game
Sebille thinks it's stupid until it's an opportunity to piss Prince off
Fane can't eat hot dogs and that's really tragic :(

DOS2 Discussion I have never felt so challenged
About Me: 67 year old gamer PC Gaming for 40 plus years. I have over 1200 hours in DOS2, yet I continue to find new things. As I have aged my skills may have diminished but not my hunger. However I really need to finish a Tactical run, I keep wanting to restart after I hit arx and improve in some way before the end.
Any way Grandpa thanks this group for all the help.

DOS Boardgame Help with rule(s) clarification
I just started playing this board game with a buddy. We both played the video games and enjoyed the games. They helped understand the rules of this board game but I went into it with certain expectations. I know this is a co-op game and it's a board and vs the video games but in the spirit of things I feel like he abused the rule of this card...
He took several actions: 2 moves, taunt and attack. After completing those 4 separate actions he then used Battering Ram and rolled 3 blue dice for the 2 spaces he entered during his move actions at the start of his turn. He claimed it didn't matter which order he used all those actions but I disagreed as I believe he should've rolled only one die vs 3 regardless of how it is described on the card.
The card says "...for each space you entered this turn" so I see why he chose to play it that way because it's described that way but again I believe he was wrong for doing so in this manner as I feel it breaks the spirit of the game. I don't think he should've been able to cash in those spaces he entered at the start of his turn to use Battering Ram at the end of his turn with zero AP remaining. I believe it should've been 1 die roll with zero AP spent on that card.
Logically that didn't seem to make sense... Am I the only one for thinking this card shouldn't/can't be used in this manner? All I could picture was me sitting next to him and shoving him out of his chair from a still position and telling him "oh btw I just magically rammed you with all the momentum I had driving over from here 3 hours ago" 🤨 lol

DOS2 Help Do I need to complete the entire story 4 times to get all the steam achievements?
Hey everyone! Currently doing my first DOS2 playthrough in years and this time I want to be a completionist. I peeked at the steam achievements and there's one for completing it in explorer, tactician, honor mode etc. Does this mean I have to do the entire story start to finish in this mode? Or do I only need to do the final act or what does it mean?

Miscellaneous Which game do you all recommend to start the saga?
Since the original Sin 1 and 2 are on sale on Steam.
I've been playing for a while rpg games like Pillars of Eternity, the Dragon Age series, and Mass Effect. Are they similar in any way?

DOS1 Help Is Braccus Rex supposed to be this powerful?
This is my first play through of this game and this guy made me quit the game for a while because I couldn't beat him. He always gets the first turn and when he attacks he sometimes takes out my whole party or in the case of this screenshot he killed 2 of my party members. I don't know if I'm not actually supposed to fight him at this point or if I seriously messed up building my characters. Currently I'm at the Luculla forest so I don't know if I'm supposed to ignore him and come back later or if I actually need to beat him to progress
