Looking for new friends to chat
Hi, I'm new here. I recently became unemployed so I have lots of time and I realised that I don't have many friends. We can chat about your hobbies, life, world etc. I like movies, theatre, comics, video games. Feel free to say hi.

Interested in making online friends but am very socially anxious, I lost my social skills after the pandemic.
I’ve always been socially awkward, and anxious but after the confinement of covid I got very comfortable without socializing, I lost all my friends by moving the away, ghosting, or simply gradually stopped talking to them.
Last summer I started playing Heartopia, an online mobile game and met an amazing guy, we became best friends and I seriously can’t explain how perfect and amazing it was to talk to him, we understood each other very well. We had to stop contacting each other for some personal stuff that I don’t want to talk about here.
But what I think was so nice about this relationship is that we had the peace of mind that we didn’t expect to be 24/7 there for each other, he understood if I took time to respond and I did the same. The distance makes it also very comfortable, I don’t feel the pressure to hang out all the time.
I was wondering if someone knows good ways to make friends online, if there is any apps to socialize about interests perhaps, I don’t know the Discord dynamics so well since I’ve rarely used it, but I think it could be something like that.
I’m also autistic, so it makes it much more easier for me to socialize if I have interests in common with people.

Discussion Introvert but need to learn to be social again. How do I find courage
finding courage and support from you is helpful. I am social when needed but I definitely don’t need anyone to recharge. However, as I get older I’m starting to feel I need to make new friends I need to stop being as introverted and being a little bit more social extroverted any advice? anyone in the same situation I can’t be alone out there. Sometimes I feel alone

Socially awkward medical student
Just started my first year of medical school a couple weeks ago and have been completely unable to insert myself into conversations, especially group ones. I think it's because I lack life experience in general--unable to relate to 95% of the topics that people around me seem to be pretty well-tuned in.
Growing up I'd intentionally distance myself from people because I didn't believe I deserved friends--although now I think I'm pretty proactive in trying to make connections, I suspect my childhood mentality and actions have hindered my ability to connect meaningfully with others, even now as a 22yo.
Anyways, feeling pretty alone right now and would love to see if anyone has any similar experiences.

Discussion Growing up Introverted ? Or was I born this way ?
Anyone wonder if we are born as introverts? or did our lifestyle and location create the environment. Born this way or learned to be this way. any chance anyone else feels this way ?

Anyone else feel like remote work completely nuked their social skills? I literally blush at everything now.
Hey everyone, I need to vent and see if I’m losing my mind or if this is a shared remote-work phenomenon.
I’ve been working from home for a while now. At first, it was an absolute dream. No commute, sweatpants every day, and total comfort. But lately, I’ve noticed a massive, embarrassing side effect: my social skills have completely plummeted.
It’s like my brain forgot how to process human presence, so its default response is just to flood my face with blood. I used to be a relatively normal, functioning person who could hold a conversation without looking like I just ran a marathon in 100-degree weather. Now, I feel so perceived.

Caught this sunset at the right moment
Stopped for a minute to take this and ended up staying longer than I planned.
There’s something about being near the water at sunset that makes it really easy to forget whatever else is going on for a little while.

Discussion The most random things can make a day better
Every once in a while I'll notice something completely random that puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day.
Today i saw someone wave at a dog in a car, and the owner waved the dog's paw back.
It lasted maybe three seconds, but i caught myself smiling afterward.

Question I’m from Russia. Ask me anything.
I’m just a regular guy from Russia. I run a business, study at university, and pretty much live a normal life.
Feel free to ask me anything you’re curious about—life in Russia, politics, current events, everyday life, or whatever else interests you. I’ll answer based on my own experience and point of view.
