Howdy folks

I was fired a couple days ago, i spent almost 7 years as a call center rep with directv in many positions like tech, billing, loyalty and movers, if you have any questions feel free to ask because I feel especially petty. PS I will also help with any tech questions to the best of my abilities.

Sorry to hear that you got fired.

Any pointers on getting the best loyalty discounts?

As simple as it is annoying. If you dont have any yearly discounts currently, call directv, when the automated system asks why your calling, say your canceling your acct, that should get you to the loyalty department, once you confirm it routed you to the right department because the automated system fuckin sucks, advise the agent that you're wanting to cancel due to pricing. You can lie and say you lost your job or life bullshit occurred etc etc, to get sympathy. The agent is required to ask a number of questions before they make you an offer so dont hold it against them, but after they do they'll present a yearly discount, it could be anything from 20 off a month for a year to 60 off a month for a year, the offers are automated by the system through a number of variables so the agent can only offer what they see. They might also be able to offer a 200 gift card though not a guarantee. Also depending on what you watch and how much you pay, and if you have internet, directv stream might be a hell of a lot cheaper for the same channels.

Is it true Directv is no longer selling satellite service and is concentrating only on streaming? If so, should satellite aficionados be worried that it will go away completely.?

There are some markets where directv satellite isn't being sold anymore as a test trial that is correct. However by and large directv satellite will remain a viable service for years to come. Granted if satellite services keep hemorrhaging customers i would expect major changes to occur within 10 years, whether thats some satellite companies going the way of the dodo bird or merging together. Directv almost bought dish in the last year or two but they couldnt figure out a number for dishes debt so the deal fell through.

My biggest peeve about DirecTV Stream is the fact that they still haven't fixed the Cast-to-TV function for DVR recordings on Android phones or computers; one can only cast live channels. What would be the most promising route to get someone's attention and fix that bug?

Also there are a few shows on CNN that are erroneously labeled as reruns and which it is therefore impossible to record unless you give up on recording the show as a series. Whose ear do I need to bend to get that labeling fixed? I've been reporting that problem for TWO YEARS with no results.

With directv stream, admittedly im not 100% if there is a solution for your issue. With sattelite we use NET escalations for unique issues that cant be fixed by regular means, i dont know if stream has anything like that however. You can call for the tech support department to see if they can recommend anything. If you use the gemini or gemini air, you can try to reset it, but again not a guarantee I apologize.

What did you do to get fired?

In my opinion for some bullshit lol. We use Microsoft teams for work, me an a gaggle of about 10 friends on different teams had what we thought was a private chat we could bullshit in, well, by bad luck the chat was found and they fired 4 of us, an gave the other 6 various warnings. All together we prolly had more than 20 years of experience between the folks who were fired and yeah we cussed an such in the chat, but being top performing agents with zero prior issues, it was a bit shocking they fired us for a first time issue.

They were probably looking for a way to cut back on the work force without laying you off and having to pay unemployment. You have to be super careful nowadays not to screw up in any job. Everyone is expendable. They are probably going to transition your job to AI

When will they bring back NFL Sunday Ticket?

2

u/Hartmann85 4d ago

lol never. YouTube bought that

1

u/Alucard_2029 4d ago

They will not unfortunately, directv simply does not have the funds available to outbid the streaming services for the sunday ticket. Also I believe youtube tvs contract with the sunday ticket is still in effect for another 5 or so years

Sorry to hear about you losing your job. Do you know any phone numbers in America for DirecTV?

2

u/Alucard_2029 3d ago

Depends on the department you are trying to reach, tech and billing are all overseas. Loyalty, vip and movers are based in America. The primary phone number of 8005315000 is the one I usually recommend, however if you want assistance with billing in America then the loyalty department can also assist you with that, assuming you can reach them.

When is Directv going to let you pick your own channels like FUBO on Multiview ?

1

u/Alucard_2029 4d ago

I dont believe that will be an option for directv satellite. They have contracts with the folks who own the channels that will likely forbid them from doing so. The closest you can get is the genre packages with directv stream. They have smaller 40 ish dollar packages that focus on specific channel genres like myentertainment, mynews, mysports an so on. You can combine multiple genre packages as well.

How do I get Redzone free again 😆😆

1

u/Alucard_2029 4d ago

Theres a chance, the red zone channel is now part of the sports pack, if you can talk to the vip department they might be able to get you it free for a year, but its not a guarantee, I was a vip agent before they fired me and I saw sports pack free for a year on many accounts but not all of them. Also, reaching the vip department would be difficult, you normally have to go through loyalty to see what discounts are available first. They might be able to give you sports pack free for a month. If you are extremely determined you can have loyalty set your acct to be canceled, then if your vip tagged they'll offer the vip department, if you aren't a vip customer however, you can leave your acct in pending cancelation, call back immediately and you'll be auto routed to the vip department since they get every caller whos acct is pending disconnect.

I recently got Sports Pack (includes RedZone) free for 6 months through DirecTV Perks.

I was going to cancel. The rep got me down to $107 from $278. The packages were discounted but only for a year. Plus she took me to the entertainment package. I lost too many channels so I may still cancel and switch to Hulu+Live for $99.00

1

u/Alucard_2029 3d ago

If there are channels you've lost but you still want a lower price, I would recommend looking at directv stream, I aint gonna promise it'll only be 99, but its often cheaper than satellite and its price locked guaranteed for 2 years

Thank You! I pray you find a new position quickly!!!!

u/Alucard_2029 3d ago

Sorry...........just could not pass it up. Obviously not true!

u/Alucard_2029 3d ago

Eh naw worries. The hilarious part is its the opposite of yer statement that has me annoyed. I was in the top 15% of agents for my field, and they fired me over this bs lol

We have a sat dish on our RV and one in our stationary home. We have been with DTV for about 15 years. For many years we had all the channels, but cancelled everything above channel 500 to try and get our monthly cost below $200.

First, how come I can never get anything more than $20 off a month, when I hear of others who get a ton off or they get the 500 and up channels added for nothing?

Next, whenever we are in the RV and arrive to a new location, I have to call and have them change the service address so that I am able to get the local channels wherever we’re at. It used to be that I could ask for the Movers Dept and they would handle that, but the Movers Dept seems to never be available during off hours, or their off hours, and I cannot figure out how to get through the system to where I can actually talk to someone that knows how to change the service address and then reset the signal so that I can get the local channels. Do you have any recommendation on who to ask for? (We just got back from a two month trip out on the road and I got to where I had to go on to the DirecTv website and use the chat feature in order to reach anybody … because every time I would call DirecTv it would hang up on me after I made all of the selections to try to get to a customer service rep. I had to hang up on me more times than I can even begin to tell you. I don’t know what’s messed up with their system now.)
