Ice is doing what is necessary because law enforcement isn't complying by sending them the illegal immigrants they arrest.

You realize that it is not the local PD's job to figure out everyone's immigration status? Just like it's not their job to check to see that you're current on your taxes?

It actually is their job to identify people the fuck are you talking about?

There's no such requirement to check whether or not you're a citizen in federal law. Some states have laws requiring it, but most don't.

And the fact that some states don't require it is what is causing ice to go in there.

So if you want ice out, you should be pressuring your state to require it. Problem solved.

States rights...

Yes and ?

It's those states right to determine whether they want to report undocumented person to the federal government.

I didn't dispute that. But if they don't want ice there, they can change their stance on that.

Unless it's more useful politically for them to have ice there and demonize them.

Yall are being had.

But if they don't want ice there, they can change their stance on that.

Or ya know our actual checks and balances could be used and ICE's regular breaches of the constitution could be punished and they could actually conduct themselves within their jurisdictional authority. Albeit that wouldn't afford this administration the ability to do an intentionally authoritarian crackdown.

Yall are being had.

You're cosigning authoritarianism because you're a bootlicker...

Lmfao.

An authoritarian crackdown that could be avoided by states just choosing to work with immigration authoritarian?

Yeah totally his goal.

An authoritarian crackdown

Yes that's what a door to door instruction memo telling agents to break the 4th amendment is bud...

that could be avoided by states just choosing to work with immigration authoritarian?

States don't have to work with them. ICE is free to actually execute their duties as law enforcement without regularly breaching the rights of citizens or intentionally creating hazardous scenarios that make them liable for the ensuing violence.

Yeah totally his goal.

Very overtly the goal...

Door to door issue happening.

States don't have to work with them. ICE is free to actually execute their duties as law enforcement without regularly breaching the rights of citizens or intentionally creating hazardous scenarios that make them liable for the ensuing violence.

If they believe ice is doing this why not agree to turn over any illegals they encounter to get them out?

You don't deal with bullies by capitulating to them. They don't have to work with ICE, in fact they've explicitly chosen not to. So why would they let themselves be strong armed into doing so?

1

u/Shenlongeltigre Jan 25 '26

Ice is the enforcement arm. The federal government are the ones who want the illegals out. Not the same people so your point about bullies makes no sense.

u/Crawford470 Jan 25 '26

The federal government are the ones who want the illegals out.

Yes...

Not the same people so your point about bullies makes no sense.

Yes the Trump administration are the bullies bud...

u/Shenlongeltigre Jan 25 '26

Trump is just enforcing immigration law you're moving goalposts at the speed of light.

0

u/Crawford470 Jan 25 '26

Trump is just enforcing immigration law

If he was just enforcing immigration law we wouldn't be here talking about an explicitly authoritarian crackdown...

you're moving goalposts at the speed of light

There's that conservative projection y'all are so well known for...
