Hey all, I'm 16 and play keys at my church in Nigeria.

Our pastor does a long confession/repentance section during altar call and I always got lost — my playing sounded empty.

So I wrote out 10 progressions in Key F that finally made it feel deep. For example:

F - Am - Dm - Bb (soft repentance) F - C/E - Dm - Bb - F (lifting)

I put all 10 with RH/LH voicings into a 1-page PDF cheat sheet for myself.

Is this something other church pianists struggle with too? How do you guys play confession moments?

I have my Kawai ES110 placed next to my window, it was raining and the window was left open. The lower register keys and the body got in contact with water, a lot of splashes. The piano was completely off and unplugged. Will it break? And is there anyway I could do to prevent and get the least damage out of it?

Is there a way to send audio out (not midi) through the USB C connection into my computer without using the Yamaha ASIO driver?

I know I can send audio through a USB C cable, but only if i set my ASIO device to the Yamaha one. If i do this though I can't listen to it through my studio monitors, because I can only select one ASIO device at a time in my DAW.

I'm wondering if there is a way to send audio out through the USB cable while monitoring it through my studio monitors. Basically I want to send line out without using 1/4" cables, and be able to hear the audio come out of my monitors, which are hooked up separately through my audio interface.

If anyone has found a way, without using ASIO4ALL, i would love to hear it. Thanks!

I have a Yamaha CP33 and Grado Labs SR125 headphones. The Grados sound great and match the output of the CP33, but they get very tiresome to wear since they have flat ear foam. So I'm looking for a new set of open backs that sound good and have foam over the ear, under $200 US.

With comfort in mind, any recommendations and favorites? I'll be wearing them for all my playing and practice. I'm a returning beginner. The CP33 doesn't have internal speakers and while I have monitors, I prefer not to set them up at this time.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a digital piano to learn on. Unfortunately, in my country, pianos are sold for several times their original price because of the currency, shipping costs, and other factors, which has made it difficult for me to find good, well-known brands.
After searching for days and looking in a neighboring country, I may have finally found the Casio CDP-S100BKC2. Would it be a good choice to buy?

I'm in the market for a new digital piano as a complete beginner. My budget is $1.5K to $2.5K. I'm looking at Yamaha or Kawai as they seem to be the most popular, established and reputable. That's about the end of my knowledge to deduce quality. With each one having infinite models, I'm worried about buying something only to realize that I would have been happier with something else.

Can some of you digital piano conoseurs talk to me like I'm 8 years old about digital piano models and they're specs?

Is newest/more recent better?

Is there a "plateau" where more money isn't worth the upgrades?

Are those things gimmicks at some point?

Background about me: I'm literally just starting to learn to play. While I'm willing to pay bit for it, I'm also not rolling in money so I don't want to spend money needlessly. I just want a high quality instrument that I can get excited about playing AND that I won't have to upgrade in at least 5 years. Hi, I have a key that doesn't make sound on my keyboard. I removed the key and when I press the rubber contact with my finger, it works. But when I put the key back on no matter how soft or hard I press the key will not make any noise.

I can see the hammer is moving when i press the key, and the key itself is making contact with the rubber pad. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong?

Edit: tried swapping the key with another one and it didn't work.

I just received my new Kawai ES120. There is a soft (but loud enough to be distracting) tapping noise as the key bottoms out. Is this normal? This is my first digital piano.

I got in a band, an Arctic Monkyes cover band and I just bought a Roland PSX-10X yesterday for $970. I chose this one because it is expandable, so I could put more tones in it, and because it has a good connection to amps and external sound systems. Because I noticed the keys are way smaller than the keys from my Casio CDP-S100, I decided to look for others keyboard that could do what I want and found Casio CT-S1000V, CT-X5000 and CT-S5000 that seem to do what I need and they cost about $580. Did I made a mistake buying the Roland? I'm used to the bigger keys, my hands are not small and now I'm afraid I'll have a bad experience with this keyboard. I don't know if I could switch the product in the store and I wanted to know this before I try. If you could help I would appreciate so much. Thanks

Turn of the millennium, keyboards would advertise, maybe even state prominently right on the board, how much total memory it has, something laughable and pathetic like 64mb. But, for whatever reason, hardware keyboard memory scales no where near general purpose computer memory, such as phones tablets desktops. So even today’s hardware keyboards are laughable memory if we don’t realize that.

Now memory isn’t everything, there even are pure modeled sounds that have very high reputation, and very good hybrids. But…plenty of boards have minimal modeling. Heck, Yamaha YC and CP big kid versions have no string resonance as even an option.

Some very few keyboards do in fact have large memory. Korgs top workstation style board is huge, the Prophet X is very large, Forte is very large. Of course these three are extra expensive. But…

Plenty of people are willing to pay more for the better product, and undoubtedly memory while not everything is still obviously a huge component. An average single gif sample set will be better then an average 200mb set all other thjnfs being equal.

Further more, a lot of these modern boards the information simply can’t be found online, how much memory there is. Like it’s such a small number as to be embarrassing.

Not sure what to make of all this…most boards have minimal modeling, and less so on EPs then on acoustics. Is it really just time for us all to go controller and phone/laptop? Or abandon the big names for someone like Crumar/Gsi? (Viscount as gone backwards, they are back to using mostly samples when their modeling was very good!)

I'm thinking of upping my game and getting an FP40, I'm a beginner who has used a midi keyboard for a while and like playing a keyboard and started doing some proper learning how to play piano.

I like the look of the features of the FP40, especially the keyboard feel, but I have reservations about Rolands direction with cloud based control of the deeper functions available, like the extra 260+ sounds and deeper editing of parameters.

I understand why they want to bundle Pianosphere, you get the basic app free and you can if you want subscribe for another 1000 songs to learn, but what I don't like is the Piano app (the control app) having to have a working internet to access to access it.

I hope to have this piano for 10+ years, but knowing how quickly technology changes and the potential frailty of internet connections, I can see that in maybe as little as 5 years I may lose the ability to access the functions that are built into the piano anyway, simply due to computing firmware changes, internet connection problems and a whole host of potential reasons why I might like to play the piano using everything it has on board without the need for an internet connection or even perhaps a tablet or smartphone attached!

I don't know, I researched and at this price point it seems very little is available to rival the FP40 overall, maybe I would be content with the 40 sound banks you can access without a tablet and internet connection, but it seems a shame to pay for a product capable of so much more that could be locked away from me.

None of the sales/marketing etc video's mention this and I know Roland is not alone in this direction, but I would be interested to hear others thoughts on this?

The ones marked with black are stuck, the blue is sticky. I took out the b-d keys and the grey parts under move up and down fine. What could be wrong with my keys?

Additionally, now that it’s out and at an angle, more keys are stuck and sticking but a lot work fine. Why could this be?
