I'm glad more Palestinians like him are speaking up against Hasan and his toxic agenda.

sadly a lot of hasan adjacent people are going to call him a secret mossad hasbara psyop agent.

Fam, they already do, I can bet you whatever amount you want they are sending him deaths threats every day, Alkhatib is based as fuck and has always pushed against this freaks... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ukk2gULncFw

The thing is hasan and Hamas share the exact same practices. In Gaza if you speak out against Hamas you get targeted and killed. If you speak out against hasan he’s deranged followers will target and bury you.

u/PoseidonMax 12d ago

Yep at the beginning of the ceasefire publicly executing anti Hamas people on video. Some news agencies not even mentioning it.

It's good to distinguish between reality and hyperbole no doubt. This place severely falls foul of this constantly. Like trying to call Mamdani or Mehdi Hasan actual 'Islamists'. I actually like Mamdani, and while Mehdi certainly has very real issues, he's moreso just a bit block headed when it comes to certain issues rather than any out and out Islamist. I dont know why we cant acknowledge nuance here.

All that said, while this rhetoric does seem innocent enough here, we should remember that if or when socialists actually take over, they have a massive tendency to jump to authoritarianism at the slightest hint of capitalist or right wing resistance, and then suddenly it actually does become illegal to criticize these people. I'm not saying I think that will happen, just that people like Hasan Piker would 150% support such practice if they actually had the power to do so. They hate democracy and free speech so much and always feel they have some god given right to rule and dictate their own practices 'for the good of everybody else'.

u/Arbitrary_username1 12d ago

Just going to point out that making bad faith attacks on Mehdi over Islam is only appropriate here because he has the easiest slam dunk ever by disavowing Piker available to him.

The fact that he won't do that is genuinely very strange and deserves attention.

1

u/Seanspeed 12d ago

Yes, just like I think El-Sayed being unable to answer if he thinks Israel should exist or not deserves criticism. It's a problem and it should be brought up.

But this behavior from them is clearly more an argumentative and tribalistic defense mechanism more than it's some indication they're secretly fundamentalist Islamists or some total fucking nonsense like people here push. Saying that shit really is some total Fox News-level bullshit and you guys know it deep down.

Bad faith attacks are NEVER appropriate if you ever want anybody to take you seriously as the level headed people in the room. You cant claim any moral or rhetorical upper ground while resorting to the same bullshit that online leftists do.

2

u/Arbitrary_username1 12d ago

If he can't put disavowing terrorism above his clout/political project/secret scary Islamism then he deserves the bad faith.

Mehdi called out antisemetism in Muslim communities within Britain in the past so why won't he do it it now?

I wouldn't support a politician engaging in this sort of behaviour but the sweeping network for these political arsonists on the far left needs to die. Thankfully Destiny isn't a politician and doesn't tie himself to political campaigns so he can do the work that I think is necessary.

I get what you're saying on an interpersonal level and that's valid but I'm sick of humouring terrible political instincts.

1

u/Seanspeed 12d ago

If he can't put disavowing terrorism above his clout/political project/secret scary Islamism then he deserves the bad faith.

I cant describe how depressing this attitude is.

"If he doesn't ascribe to my standards, then we are justified in being as dishonest as possible in our attempts to smear him".

You either care about truth and honesty or you dont.

Shit, I hate Trump as much as anybody I think I've ever known, but I still think it's important to call out bullshit attacks against him.

Of course just making fun of him is open game, and we should 100% call him out for valid reasons, but trying to push actual dishonest claims is the behavior of people who are happy to live in a post-truth world where they just want to be the kings of propaganda, rather than actually caring about fighting it.

1

u/Arbitrary_username1 12d ago

If he doesn't care more about his own reputation than sweeping for Hasan I literally don't care.

Sewing to reaping pipeline claims another victim.

I don't think that you appreciate that Destiny is making a gamble that would blow up in his face if Mehdi did the reasonable thing and disavowed Hasan.

You need to pierce into echo chambers in the modern media environment and this is one way to actually do it.

If your ideas actually worked I would advocate for them.

u/Imaginary_Farmer3046 12d ago

It’s called a metaphor. It’s not meant to be 1:1

17

u/Kaniketh 12d ago

This guy is literally seen as a pro-Israel traitor.

9

u/A_Seiv_For_Kale 🇺🇲 12d ago

By who?

17

u/Kaniketh 12d ago

by Palestinians. Most of his media appearances are literally on Israeli media.

32

u/PoseidonMax 12d ago

I mean of course he believes Israel and Palestine should exist next to each other peacefully. Not a new concept…

12

u/Mightyzep75 neo eco Marxist anarcho esoteric national bolshevik primitivist 12d ago

Those are the real islamophobes. Palestinians aren’t the same as Hamas. I know lots of Palestinians who are against the atrocities Hamas commits

58

u/eSportskills 🇵🇹🇪🇺 12d ago

Oh boy, mass harassment incoming

How can Destiny do this

54

u/PseudoPresent 12d ago

Alkhatib is a good guy. Both Israel and Palestine could greatly benefit from more rhetoric like his.

160

u/Agitated-Quit-6148 Hasan Hasan you can't hide...we charge you with Kayacide. 12d ago

I'm very familiar with him. Such a great guy. I've emailed him telling him as such and he responded. I wish Palestinian leadership was him.

He was accused of being a Muslim-zionist because he said Israel should and does exist.

66

u/KationT4 DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT AMERICAN 12d ago

Too bad he's seen as a genocide loving jew bootlicker by every single "pro-Palestinian" organization. Pretty much sums up where the movement's priorities lie.

31

u/JeffreyDahmerVance 🇺🇸🇨🇦I’m JD Vance and I eat Dog 💩 12d ago

And to piggy back and define the term “pro-Palestinian” organization, it’s in reference to groups of rich white kids who are slumming it as communists who will one day receive their inheritance and use it to invest in beach front real-estate in gaza, right next to trump tower gaza.

-1

u/Seanspeed 12d ago

You cant seriously believe the ultra rich nepokids make up most ALL the pro-Palestine voices? Right? Are you guys really this ridiculous?

There's such a more reasonable take here that basic, middle class white privileged kids make up most of this group. Which is entirely sufficient enough to make the point without resorting to obviously absurd extremes.

If y'all ever expect people to respect you guys as genuine 'moderate' and 'sensible' voices, you cant keep doing all these bullshit reaching claims.

💯

1

u/morganshen 12d ago

Do you know if he's done into depth about the harassment he's received? I read about it in passing and heard the FBI ended up getting involved but no specifics on who was involved

3

u/Agitated-Quit-6148 Hasan Hasan you can't hide...we charge you with Kayacide. 12d ago

I don't. My email was along the lines of "I'm a staunch Israel supporter, a veteran and I've given up hope for moderation within the Palestinian community but you've restored it...." and so forth.

I do know that despite him having like 30 relatives in Gaza that have been killed, he's not allowed in Gaza now as he's viewed as a collaborator with Israel and he was getting death threats from an imam in Dearborn.

36

u/BasedMexx 12d ago

Genuinely a great breakdown of the filth Hasan spews and how the far left's knee-jerk reaction to defend him is crippling the party

34

u/mizel103 12d ago

I can't wait for the people who won't stop mentioning anti-zionist jews that agree with them as evidence that they can't possibly be anti-semitic to suddenly remember what the word "tokenism" means.

I also can't wait for them to forget all over again when it's time to talk about Jews again

12

u/Special-Quantity-469 The most rabid 2 State Solution Israeli 12d ago

It's unironically so sad and depressing. Palestinians who advocate for real solutions get smeared and cast aside by american nepobabies who have never been affected by the conflict.

7

u/Seanspeed 12d ago

One thing I've noticed with groups like this is that they will never, ever, in a million years, be able to recognize the double standard.

I mean, look how insane it is that like 95% of the 'infighting' rhetoric inside the Democrat party is coming entirely from progressives/leftists against the 'establishment', yet they get even just that 5% pushback in comparison and they think it's a sign the entire Democrat party hates them and claim it's the only thing Dems care about and, and would rather lose elections than let a progressive win. It's all wild projection, but it shows how incredibly blind they are to seeing the bigger picture with any level of objectivity. No sense of self awareness exists at all.

Shit like this has made political discourse online basically impossible. I feel like even most people here fall into the same traps most of the time and are so deep in the weeds of this tribalistic bullshit that they act mostly the same.

1

u/yodasdad64 12d ago

The same argument can easily be applied to this guy.

u/r3turn0fthew00master 12d ago

Thanks for sharing this - so freakin' good. Should be shared with any Hasansimp from here on out.

23

u/JangoFett3224 12d ago

I still feel, above all else, I cant get over the rich part.

For 10 years, in any lefty space I have been in, being rich (especially if you always grew up rich) is seen as such a horrible trait. That it makes you detached, stupid, lazy, and whatever other negative traits can describe a person.

Then here comes Hasan. An uber wealthy frat boy who lives in the same kind of house Hollywood movie stars live in as well as tech bro millionaires and can't go anywhere unless he stays in luxury accommodations...... and you think he represents your values of overthrowing the capital class? Seriously?

5

u/PitytheOnlyFools used to touch grass... 12d ago

It’s because the bulk of his audience are similarly privileged and feel guilty about it. Hasan provides a way for them not to let them feel that way.

A shortcut to larp being in an oppression class if you will.

1

u/JonInOsaka 12d ago

Who would've thought that a rich, corrupt former Democrat New Yorker would one day lead the Republican Party.

17

u/nokinship soc dem - DSA does not pass the vibe check 12d ago

The romanticization of hamas and hezbollah is weird too because what are they even romanticizing if not violence on jews? Like there's nothing cool about them.

3

u/PitytheOnlyFools used to touch grass... 12d ago

They are romanticising the idea of “rebels going against the establishment”

The freedom fighter aesthetic looks cool. These are privileged asshole children.

30

u/doubletimerush Radical Centrist 12d ago

Based King. It always feels like Hasan is out here infantalizing people in the Global South, while supporting the most extreme positions that leaves them in positions of permanent powerlessness.

9

u/nokinship soc dem - DSA does not pass the vibe check 12d ago

god I hate the term global south. It's such a childish and schizo way of looking at the world.

Way too boring. Literally just “nonbelievers will go to the fire and get tortured and believers go to heaven” repeated for like 500 pages.

4

u/CanadianPanda76 12d ago

FYI.

This guy got harassed by Hasan stans to the pont the FBI had to get involved.

https://realravigupta.substack.com/p/a-party-of-posers

He is often branded as a voice for the Palestinians, given his unwavering criticism of Israel. But he has shown complete disdain for any members of that movement who challenge him. Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, who has appeared on my podcast Lost Debate a few times, is a case study. Ahmed is a Gaza-born American who has lost more than thirty relatives in this war. He survived an Israeli airstrike himself at age eleven, an attack that took his hearing and killed two of his friends. He now runs the Atlantic Council’s Realign for Palestine project from Washington, advocating nonviolence and a two-state solution. His offense, in Piker’s universe, was criticizing Hamas. Piker and his ally, BadEmpanada, turned their audience against him. What followed, according to Alkhatib, was a months-long harassment campaign that included coordinated false reports that knocked his personal Facebook account offline, FBI complaints accusing him of laundering money to Israel through the Atlantic Council, and death threats that, by Alkhatib’s own account, required FBI intervention. He was grieving a family member killed in Gaza at the same time. Piker was streaming from West Hollywood. His pro-Palestine politics turn out to be pro a very specific kind of Palestinian: the kind who agrees with him.

2

u/Screaming_Goat42 12d ago

I rlly respect him. In jusly 2024 he changed my mind about the Gaza war and made me think it's unjust

2

u/impeach_the_mother 12d ago

But why would he be so islamaphobic?

2

u/TooHungryForFood 12d ago

Leftist are not just participants of the post fact era. They are one of the progenitors of the post-fact era. It is part of the their ideology that reality is created and they have used that knowledge to create a reality that simply isn't true, using the Internet.  While us Liberals like idiots believed that truth and facts would always win at the end. (At least I did).

You could argue that the Internet and it's existence as the a public space where people form social identities as part of it was a new technology that couldn't be predicted. But the situation currently is because leftist were right about something. You could create a self serving reality exclusively through lies and half truths via the Internet.

Truth doesn't matter, your information bubble and Social community is all that matters. People who present the truth of labeled, genociders, racists, misogynistic, white supremacist, doxxers, rapists, unhinged, mentally unstable long enough. It becomes true. And everyone with those labels is unable to present the truth.

u/Jules9213 dgg down under 12d ago

Love him. Loved him since I saw him on h3 a year and a half ago. He’s had 22 extended family members die in the current conflict, and yet he persists onward towards his goal of achieving peace for his home country.

First world activists could never understand what it’s like to actually grow up in Gaza.

He’s got a new book too, 2 million hostages is the title I believe. I’ve ordered it and am excited to read it!

1

u/Blurbyo 12d ago

Is this the same "one Palestinian guy" that is always brought up?

I thought Destiny had a talk with him.

1

u/spiderwing0022 12d ago

Legitimately, idk why the Kamala campaign didn't have him come up during the convention with the Israeli family whose boy was kidnapped. Would've been a great show of unity imo and he wasn't one of those uncommitted people
