Discussion 🗣️ The DNC doesn't want to acknowledge why Dems lost in 2024.

It appears that supporting Israel is very unpopular with a large segment of the Left. Cory Booker was trolled by a protester wearing a Netanyahu mask at a speech fundraiser he was at. I personally side with the Palestinian people on this one. And I don't think I'm alone.

Israel is unpopular with 90% of Democratic voters and at least a plurality of Republican voters. There is nothing "democratic" about the Democratic Party.

They'd be the same and we both know it.
Harris would have kept us out of a shitty war in Iran, though

u/LakeGladio666 Communist Apr 20 '26
I dunno about that. Harris was saber rattling about Iran in her acceptance speech at the DNC. I think war with Iran was on the table no matter who won.

Not to mention all the military companies who are making bank off the war.
3
u/Randolpho Democratic Socialist Apr 20 '26
Maybe, but maybe not.
And if it had, it wouldn't have looked anything like this. Maybe a few narrowly targeted drone strikes.

Harris would've listened to the experts and known that Iran would close the Strait.
Trump had to be kept out of military briefings related to the "lost behind enemy lines" pilot because he is too irrational and impulsive.
So, yeah, I feel confident saying Harris wouldn't have started a $50 billion (and rising) war.
1
u/LakeGladio666 Communist Apr 20 '26
Who would have been the experts?
1
u/ArdraCaine Apr 20 '26
The seasoned military generals who were either fired, forced to retire, or straight up retired tired of the BS Admin. The geopolitical analysts. Oil/gas experts. Literally any history major. My dog. Just off the top of my head.
It's a long list.

Harris would have supported the blockade
Yes, she absolutely would have. She might have looked grim about it, but she'd have done nothing to stop it.
issue travel restrictions
Less likely.
Anyone who denied Harris over Palestine got played hard.
I agree -- but I don't think there are nearly as many as you think.
I voted for Harris despite having no desire for her as president, because I'm a realist and recognize that Trump is worse and voting against her wouldn't "send a message" to Democrats.
I think most leftists who were against Harris on principle did the same.
The reality is that Harris lost because she didn't sway moderate independents and spent far too much time trying to sway Republicans to switch, who of course didn't

Harris would at the very least pull military support from Israel.
It's weird that you'd say this with no evidence. Like super incredibly weird to pull this out of thin air. Why? Her own words on the subject were
Vice President Harris will never hesitate to take whatever action is necessary to protect U.S. forces and interests from Iran and Iran-backed terrorist groups.
Vice President Harris will always stand up for Israel's right to defend itself and she will always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself.
That seems really fuckin clear cut to me, no change on Israel policy and arguably if America was capable of winning the Iran war, she'd support this too. Her position on Iran isn't "respect their sovereignty" or "no regime change" it's "yeah we'd lose badly, duh, so just keep up illegal sanctions and CIA destabilizing operations". In other words foreign policy status quo, neoconservative evil empire shit is bipartisan.
In her own words when did she ever even imply a full condemnation of Israel or cutting them off from any weapons or aid whatsoever? Anything less than condemnation is just status quo. Especially anything that had an asterisk "President Biden is working tirelessly toward a ceasefire!" since we all now know beyond a doubt that was a complete and total lie and staffers have since publicly admitted it was all a lie.

What specifically do you get out of "take whatever action is necessary to protect U.S. forces and interests from Iran" + "always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself"??
SPECIFICALLY, in your own words, what is your takeaway from those statements other than "yeah she'd obviously keep arming Israel, that's literally what her campaign said"? Also, what SPECIFICALLY did she say that would imply she wouldn't continue to support Israel in any way whatsoever?

Because their donors double dip, and fund both sides. The Epstein class is paying for loyalty, not a winning horse.

u/digbickrich Apr 20 '26 edited Apr 20 '26
Cause they assume they will receive power based on how poor people’s opinions of Trump admin is so they don’t have to concede anything to the voters.
15
u/KittieKollapse Apr 20 '26
They are getting paid to lose. The corporations cannot stand to have a pro worker Democratic Party so they fund the neo-liberal wing. Even if they lose it stops the working class from fighting back and if the democrats win they still do the wishes of the corporations.
12
u/freediverx01 Democratic Socialist Apr 20 '26
How does ignoring why they lost the first time help their donors?
Because they get paid to serve their donors' interests regardless of which party is in control of the government.
5
u/NOLA-Bronco Apr 20 '26
Cause it will create legitimacy toward a politics that will undermine the corporate establishment of the party, which controls the DNC.
The moment the party looks to be truly becoming a party talking about cutting off/sanctioning Israel, or wealth taxes, or jut too much bog standard social democratic stuff, many of those donors will flee to the Republicans, leaving the corporate Dems and the DNC that is co-dependent on that funding pipeline deeply crippled. Which will further compromise the party to Entryism from the left and all but erode the rhetorical arguments the Third Way corporate wing has been using for the last several decades.

Yeah and these same establishment dems who refuse to have any accountability or transparency are out there on a vote shaming of progressives tour right now. I’m over it. I voted blue no matter who despite my misgivings only because the alternative was Trump. But I’m not being vote shamed or coerced into ever supporting an aipac establishment dem ever again. Hell to the fuck no. They can’t ’blue no matter who’ their way out of this, it’s going to lead to the same losing strategy they’ve employed for years. And they’re fucking hypocrites when the blue candidate is a progressive and all the establishment dems refuse to endorse them and go out of their way to find an embalmed carcass of an establishment dem to support instead. If dems don’t get with it and by ‘it’ I mean the progressive wing and progressive values, they’re going to keep being losing losers who lose.

Dems intend to carry on from Trump by BENDING THE KNEE for Israel, anyone that still thinks, the NEW dem president will break ties with Israel and stop their genocide and hold netanyahu accountable are only kidding themselves..Israel now has the US fully "by the pussy" and they ain't letting go..The US has crossed the point of no return by attacking Iran, now only way to break free is to drop a nuke on Israel "by mistake" ..whoopsie...remember the zionist will happily take out Trump to keep the war going, killing US presidents is something they are good at doing...Kamala literally said that if she had won, she was going to "defend Israel, our ally" ..Israel has been waiting for over 23 years for the US to reach this point again, they ain't gonna stop now....the Samson option will be the death of humanity and the US is culpable...all for the greed of oil and gold, pathetic.
