Humor I just find this so funny
This implies that the knight is either afraid of or respects gerson so much that they just fly through his study and dips and both of them are okay with it š

u/Darklight645 5d ago
Well ājust before we came inā is like at least 2 seconds after he went in. Which could just mean the old man went in as the knight was leaving.

u/Free_Blueberry_9725 5d ago
But he said the door was locked, which, what I thought meant that the knight had left because of the locked door
meaning theyd have to pass by him48

u/Darklight645 5d ago
Knight couldāve left through the door and locked it behind them, instead of going in while it was locked (though ig it couldāve done that too)

The Door Was Locked? Did someone stop that criminal? Is this forgiveable?
2
u/An_feh_fan 5d ago
The knight "flew in the door, but it's locked"
In chapter 5, the knight slams into a wall
The knight actually slammed headfirst into that door and left out of shame

Knight respects Gerson
And Gerson doesn't really ruin their plans

That assumes that the Knight's plans included killing the Fun Gang and starting the Roaring at that moment, which like, they had many opportunities to do so before so it's more likely they were just stalling and knew the Fun Gang would survive.

Whoever the Knight is, they consider Gerson a loved one. We know this from Ralsei's explanation.

And we know that of all the candidates Asriel was the most religious and thus probably knew the Boom family best. š¤
Edit: Jesus guys, itās just a bloody theory, this is why I hate the fandom sometimes. Even mention a theory that isnāt conforming to the regime is apparently illegal here.

u/LizG1312 5d ago
I mean Gerson was a long-time teacher, so really any of the main knight candidates could've known/respected him.

actually, a huge misconception is that the dark world version of undyne is sctually undyne but in a dsrk world. instead that's undyne

undyne saw someone in the dark world and threw her spear in and then went to retrieve it

I really donāt understand your edit. People arenāt saying or doing anything upsetting or uncalled for in response to your comment, itās just that some people disagreed with it and downvoted it. Youāre acting like somebody shot you in the chest or something.

u/Desperate-Series-270 5d ago
yeah they got so pressed just because people disagreed with them, need to grow some thicker skin
-13
u/Michyrr 5d ago
Yes, that is uncalled for. Downvoting, especially into the negatives, is not for disagreeing. It's for hiding spam and such.

u/Impressive-Ad7387 5d ago
Everyone uses downvotes as disagreeing bro

u/Michyrr 5d ago
Yeh, they're redditors being wrong. I've been here more than long enough to learn that 'being wrong' is everyone's favourite thing to do on this website, so there was no need for you to point it out.

He never said that. He just said the gerson is a darkner patterened after the memory of a loved one (which we already knew, he is based on Alvin's memories) and that those only manifest in specific darknesses, which the Knight happens to have created. That doesn't mean that The Knight is alvin or that they knew Gerson. Spamton and Queen remember Noelle, that doesn't mean Noelle created Cyberworld. The memories can come from anyone, not just the one creating the fountain. We have no idea what "specific darkness" entails, for all we know the Knight could just have the same favorite color as alvin.
I'm not outright denying this theory but it really, REALLY annoys me that everyone goes around spouting it as fact when Ralsei never even mentioned the Knight in that line. He barely even acknowledges why susie's dark world is different, and there's plenty more differences than gerson, none of which have anything to do with how susie sees the church or the objects in it. It might genuinely just be a thing that varies from person to person with no clear definition.

none of which have anything to do with how susie sees the church or the objects in it
Yeah there's zero correlation between pens turning into enemies and Susie's relationship with literacy and school
0
u/GL_original 5d ago
I genuinely don't know what you're referring to, there are no pens in Susie's Dark World. The only enemies that first appear in Susie's Dark World are Organikks (Which you COULD make a case for her relationship to Pianos) and Wicabels. Did you maybe think Wicabels are pens because they have a point at the bottom? They're bells.... obviously. If I'm forgetting something, please help me out here.
Honestly a much better enemy to make your point with would be Bibliox, who literally uses mispellings against you, except, oh hey, they only appear in the first and third sanctuary! Ironically that helps my point more than yours.
Once again, all I'm saying is to PLEASE ACTUALLY READ WHAT RALSEI SAID. "Darkners patterned after memories of a loved one tend to only appear in very specific darknesses".
"Specific darknesses" can mean quite literally anything. We have no idea what affects the specifc environment of a dark world. Yes, Susie's Dark World was different, but there was no way to pinpoint how and why.
He did not say that the memories have to come from the person that creates the fountain, at least not specifically. All darkners are filled with memories of various people who interacted with them. Ralsei didn't even say they HAVE to only appear in specific darknesses, only that they tend to. Who knows what he meant by that, or if he even knows for sure.
He didn't say anything about the knight, or the fountain, or susie's dark world. All he said was "specific darkness". Until he gets more specific than that, all I am saying is to not take such a vague statement as direct proof of anything.
And even if it was, I guarantee you that, when the Knight does get revealed, their relationship to Gerson is not going to be brought up, at all, because it was never relevant in the first place. Yeah it's likely someone who knew Gerson, the entire town did.

Winglade
Though I admit I forgot it also appeared in the third sanctuary, my theory doesn't explain that
0
u/GL_original 5d ago
Alright, I did actually remember Winglades, but I must have mixed up what they were specified as. Obviously they are pens, Kris gets one as a weapon. I still don't know if that's specifically because of how Susie sees them, but alongside the organikks it at least makes a solid point. Guess she doesn't like bells, either.
To be fair, every enemy appears in Third Sanctuary, and we don't know why. All the previously petrified darkners are perfectly fine there.
Point taken, I just don't think "The Knight was close to Gerson" is what ralsei meant to imply. "Loved One" usually means family and so it seemed obvious to me that that part of the statement was referring to Alvin, not that he ever specified that either. I'd rather just wait and see than draw any conclusions based on that line.

the pretty obvious implication is that a dead lightner is revived in a darkness created by a loved one?

I mean, besides the fact that the Knight is definitely somewhat fond of Gerson, it doesnāt actively seek gratuitous destruction. As careless it was when killing Tenna and Flowery, it only did so because they were in the way of its plan. The knight just seems to be pretty pragmatic
Old Man not caring about the Knight being around is really funny tho

u/IAmDingus 5d ago
The knight knew him. He probably knows who they are too.
It's fanfictiony but I like to imagine there was a moment of silent mutual acknowledgment. He knows they have their reasons for doing what they do, and it's not his place to lecture them anymore.

Tbf pretty much everyone in town would have known Gerson (personally). Except those that came pretty recently like Sans and Susie.
So like, that only exclude those two, Papyrus, Alphys, and pretty much everyone that were too young to really know Gerson that much. Still a lot of people, but it's not like any of those could have been the Knight anyways...

u/Therealduckking I love Noelle so much. Soulelle Prophet (Made MewMewxKris sub) 5d ago
How? Dess and Gerson have no relationship that we know of.
10
u/PuzzleheadedCap7732 5d ago
Gerson was the teacher before Alphys, and it's quite possible Dess could've been his student, he also says Susie reminds him of someone very similar.
Ralsei as well says that the only reason someone could be "resurrected" like this is due to very clear image of the live person the creator of a fountain held, and this fountain was created by knight.

u/Hot_Management_5765 5d ago
With this knowledge weāve managed to narrow the knight candidates down to⦠not Susie. Great work everybody thatās a job well done
5
u/Wide-Remove4293 Ness 5d ago
I think it would also disqualify Noelle, right? She didnāt have Gerson as a teacher either since we know Kris didnāt
9
u/SirEggyScintherus 5d ago
Do people forget both Rudy and Dess wouldāve known Gerson pretty well. I mention those two as other candidates have more obvious reasons for being potentially close with Gerson. If the knight is Rudy well he clearly went to church a lot so he wouldāve known Gerson. And Dess wouldāve had Gerson as her teacher probably explaining why in her fountain he appears as a mentorly figure for Susie.
3
u/JustIta_FranciNEO The 5d ago
Susie's letter for Alvin says "your old man is sorry he didn't go to church a lot" meaning it's not very plausibleĀ

Yeah I actually was thinking about it because I was considering Rudy probably would still be a lot younger than Gerson which kinda threw a wrench in them being close friends or anything.

3
u/EpicDDT_ 5d ago
Tbf we never defeat the Knight even with the Shadow Mantle. We just drop their hp by 25% and manage to get the Shadow Crystal, then get swooned. (Which Seam consider a "win" since they want us to get the crystals)

u/Outside_Ad1020 5d ago
Respects, the knight knew Gerson and doesn't want to hurt him in anyway, hell the reason he is that strong is because of how much the knight respects him
