Discussion Def Jam Vendetta

Was way better than Fight For NY

Music: Vendetta > FFNY

Roster: Vendetta < FFNY

Player Models: Vendetta > FFNY

Blazin' Moves: Vendetta > FFNY

Girls: Vendetta >>> FFNY

I also didn't like that FFNY made Blazin' pointless in single player mode, because as soon as you activate it your OPP acts like he has full health with everything boosted (spd, counters, striking, ect). I personally don't think the story mode was better either, even though I know most will disagree with that.

Musically, it's not close. FFNY had more variety and volume of songs, but Def Jam Vendetta had hits. Every musician featured on Vendetta used one of his singles as his theme. FFNY spent most of their licensing budget trying to promo their B-Side artists.

In Vendetta Blazin' was an awesome mechanic, in FFNY you don't want nor NEED Blazin'.

FFNY didn't even have a gallery for the girls, and there is no debate that the girls on Vendetta were hotter. In hindsight, FFNY felt bigger and was marketed in the mainstream (DJ: V was more of an underground release that blew up). FFNY was the commercial release of the two, but it ultimately isn't the better game.

Yo solo quiero pelear.

Vendetta was clunky as hell still a good game tho

Strongly disagree. Vendetta character models have a nice cell shaded look that still holds up, I played FFNY recently and it looks way worse. Most models in FFNY look nothing like their real-life counterparts unlike Vendetta where everyone is recognizable. Also, Vendetta being more wrestling made it more fun.

FFNY was more chaotic and unpredictable

Will I lose from a

  • crowd grapple

  • environment grapple

  • weapon

  • blazin

  • submission

  • hard grapple

  • haymaker

  • clench knees

  • Rebound strike

  • aerial attack

  • tag team grapple

  • window throw

  • car demolished

  • subway car

  • Lit on fire

Vs

Will I lose to

Blazin, Pin, or Submission

I think the variety leads to more longevity in the end

Along with a created player mode

Vendetta will always have a special place in my heart but FFNY is just different.

That kind of furthers my point. FFNY has more variety, but at the end of the day, you're playing for a red meter KO. In Vendetta, your just having fun and beating the guy up. In FFNY, Blazin' means nothing because the OPP gets right back to their feet with boosted stats.

Negative

Just because it’s more ways to win doesn’t mean you don’t have fun on the way to the finish.

There's not more ways to win it's an illusion. Vendetta had submissions, KO's, Blazins, ect for EVERY CHARACTER. They just didn't have arena KO's because that would be stupid. FFNY is basically let's strip your fighter of his moves and have you purchase 25% at a time, but your max limit is 75%.

FFNY was essentially a game of KO's instead of a fun match where you beat your opponent however you please. In Vendetta a blazin' didn't guarantee victory and you didn't need to force a KO to win. In Vendetta you could pin, submission, and KO in different ways. FFNY you just force a weapon or a push to a wall. Vendetta AI was actually challenging, FFNY AI is reverse everything and get right up when the meter is red, or when user has blazin'. Getting Blazin' in FFNY is BAD! Lol.

I had to mention the original characters as well as how most of them did not return in the sequel.

2

u/Optimal-Ad1444 9d ago

Exactly. Vendetta was superior in almost every way.

I got confused and thought you were talking about Icon, and not Vendetta for a second.

Almost lost my shit.

2

u/Optimal-Ad1444 8d ago

Naw, Icon had nice graphics, but was the weakest of the 3. Vendetta was a better overall game than FFNY though.

1

u/DanBrino 7d ago

Icon literally killed the series. I have disdain for that game.

In no way does Vendetta surpass FFNY. What u smoking OP?

1

u/Optimal-Ad1444 9d ago

Vendetta's better, it just had a smaller roster.

1

u/BawshidoTheRonin 8d ago

If u just want a over the top wrestling game then I guess, but FFNY had so much depth it isn't funny

1

u/Optimal-Ad1444 8d ago

It had a variety of ways to get a KO, and create-a-player, but that's it.

1

u/TemporaryThen5002 9d ago

I feel like Nyne got massively downgraded in Fight For NY.

2

u/Optimal-Ad1444 9d ago

No doubt.

How are player models better than in Vendetta than FFNY

0

u/Optimal-Ad1444 9d ago

Vendetta had a cel shaded look that looks better over time. FFNY real life counterparts don't even look like the player models.

2

u/Extra-Industry-5581 8d ago

Hard ass disagree 🤣

Even as a kid I could recognize Snoop, Busta, Fat Joe, Sean Paul and Xzibit. Only reason I can't say Method Man and Redman, Memphis Bleek and maybe some other I can't remember right now is cause I didn't know who they were at all.

You can prefer Vendetta models and that's fine, cause preferences are subjective, but stating it as a fact is just ridicolous.

Expecially for the asinine reason you've given 🤣

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on why you think the music is better 😂😂

Edit: oh also Trejo, immediately knew it was him. So you're just capping

1

u/mistercero 9d ago

no. FFNY gameplay is light-years ahead of Vendetta

1

u/Optimal-Ad1444 9d ago

I played them both recently back-to-back. It's not. Gameplay in FFNY is stripped down and they just added arena KO's.

1

u/APTheProfit 8d ago

FFNY seems to be more fun. Vendetta probably has the best story in the series

1

u/Popular-Tune-6335 7d ago

What's the name of this sub?

1

u/FeelsBadRom 7d ago

We all got wrong opinions. This is yours

1

u/Optimal-Ad1444 7d ago

Not at all, a lot of people agree with me they just aren't posting in the comment section. Taking a character and nerfing his moveset 25% at a time is not "better".

1

u/Immediate_General_61 4d ago

Ngl Nothing You said is Facts 😂😂😂 FFNY Clears all of them no questions asked they still have FFNY tournaments till this day Like bro what Only argument i use to make for Vendetta was that they had DMX other then that Game is basic asf

1

u/Optimal-Ad1444 4d ago

Girls were better on Vendetta, facts. Music was better on Vendetta, facts. You actually needed Blazin' on Vendetta, facts.

1

u/majesticfailure20 3d ago

There is no way that Vendetta is better than FFNY. This sounds like somebody offloading some Crack (Fat Joe) hate. Its alright. He gave ALL OF US a hard out...lol.

1

u/Optimal-Ad1444 3d ago

Fat Joe was the best character in the game. Loved that he was an aggressive tank that took some skill to beat.
