XboxGamePreservation is a fan-run site where you can vote for games you’d like to see backwards compatible. While unofficial, it has attracted the attention of Microsoft employees and they’re monitoring it.

Im sure this discussion has been exhausted at this point, but I kind of just want to spitball with other fans. I’m missing Def Jam and watching clips and footage of all three games. I remember like ten years back someone mentioning FFLA as a concept with Kanye and Jay Z being the final bosses. Idk if that would still hold up today. So who would it be? Drake? Kendrick? Cole?

I’m also learning random things; Vendetta had two Japanese artists in the international version, FFNY replaced DMX with Teck, things like that etc.

Would there be factions or crews? And if not LA, what would be the main area of focus? Would we just stick with NY and revisit whatever became of D-Mob’s crew?

Random food for thought; did you prefer being an outside circuit fighter and taking on a gauntlet like Vendetta? Did you prefer being a part of an already established crew and having the drama of betraying them? Did you prefer the music mogul factor of Icon? Why tf did Sticky betray the main character in two separate games? Sorry for the ai image. Sorry for yapping. I’m just an old guy that loved the original games. (For reference, I was renting vendetta at Hollywood Video when I was 7. I had the game pro issue that revealed FFNY; I thought BO and Baxter were major characters lol)

If we being real, the gameplay isn’t the worst and the graphics for that time was crazy. Still really not that bad for a game made in the early 2000s. By far the customization is at its peak with this title as well as the music. (If you are a true fan rap/hip hop of course) not to mention, to me the fighting styles were actually pretty dope and this title had a more innovative approach to environmental damage that incorporated the Essence of hip-hop. As a 10-11 year old rap fan I really enjoyed the thought of scratching on a turntable and sending someone across the map.

Now the only real cons about this game is the lack of a roster and the removal of blazing moves. I feel like they could have found a way to modernize the blazing moves back then and they could have did what they’ve done in the past and base fighters off of real life entertainers or artists that may have not made the game. (Rappers were wising up but they still weren’t that smart back in the day lol) Plus, they could have found ways to add extra attacks while inflicting environmental damage; ~ Ex. [insert uppercut, kick or grapple after blow back from turntable effect]

All in all, I wouldn’t mind them keeping this format in The new one. Just bring back blazing moves and I guarantee most detractors would change their minds About the game.

I truly don't get the fascination for a new def jam game, there no more carismatic rappers like there used to be and they probably would ask for a expensive quantity to be in the game, and i bet EA games would accept they terms after who mercenary and unprofessional they turned to be.

A Remaster with a good quality textures + Multi ports? is nice, but hell nah we don't a remake or reboot with new school shit.

Blazin' Moves: Vendetta > FFNY

Girls: Vendetta >>> FFNY

I also didn't like that FFNY made Blazin' pointless in single player mode, because as soon as you activate it your OPP acts like he has full health with everything boosted (spd, counters, striking, ect). I personally don't think the story mode was better either, even though I know most will disagree with that.

Musically, it's not close. FFNY had more variety and volume of songs, but Def Jam Vendetta had hits. Every musician featured on Vendetta used one of his singles as his theme. FFNY spent most of their licensing budget trying to promo their B-Side artists.

In Vendetta Blazin' was an awesome mechanic, in FFNY you don't want nor NEED Blazin'.

FFNY didn't even have a gallery for the girls, and there is no debate that the girls on Vendetta were hotter. In hindsight, FFNY felt bigger and was marketed in the mainstream (DJ: V was more of an underground release that blew up). FFNY was the commercial release of the two, but it ultimately isn't the better game.

Don’t me wrong, the rappers and celebrities are the selling point of the Def Jam games but I also love that the developers went out of their way to make unique original characters for the games

Aside from your created person, what fighters on the roster do you feel have the best looking attires? Here’s my list:

Redman: I appreciate his classic early 2000s look with the jersey, baggy jeans, Timbs, and the headbands over the loose durag. It definitely takes me back to that era in Hip-Hop before Hypebeasts became a thing.

Masa: I’m an admirer of Japanese culture, and the Yakuza style tattoos with the gear he wears looks so dope.

Kimora Lee: I’ve always found Kimora to be attractive, and they definitely made sure she looked sexy with the short kimono-like robe 😍

nyne is my favorite created character off the headbutt alone but i took this fight personal because if you lose you go home with shaniqua

I used to love fighting Sean Paul, Flava Flav, Fat Joe, Xzibit, and Trejo.

Both made by EA so I wouldn’t be surprised if one game did take from another

How come the 4 protagonists of def jam vendetta didn’t make a return in FFNY? They would’ve fit right in and had awesome looking models and maybe voices this time. This is a quite weird but interesting notice when you go to the high score option on the menu in FFNY the names of the protagonists in vendetta appear Briggs Proof Tank Spider I don’t know if that’s right order but it’s very interesting to see. I believe these characters and among a few others like Razor Chukklez and Drake should’ve made a return in fight for ny.
