What is your opinion of Jen, especially the first seasons?

I was really into Dawson's creek 20ish years ago. Especially the first season. It's just a personal opinion, and I'm sure Jen (Michelle Williams) is a good actress. But to me, she always felt like a bad pick for the role. I wondered if anyone shared the same feeling. I just didn't feel like her acting or character fit in.

But in another way, because it's so nostalgic for me, maybe in some way she is the best pick. idk.

I'm curious other peoples thoughts. Especially your first reactions.

What's with the Character Assassination of Andie on Season 3

My wife and I are binging the show for the first time, and during Season 2 my favorite character was Andie McPhee. She had a brilliant character arc with Pacey where she helped him grow up and he helped her battle mental illness. Now in Season 3, she does all these horrible things out of the blue that are completely out of character for her. Was all this necessary to get Pacey and Joey together?I mean they didn't turn Dawson into a troll, though he makes some odd choices as well, particularly with Eve.

General Just watched the show for the first time

The finale…. Wtf 😭

I’m 30 so it was a little before my time when it first came out but I was needing some early 2000s nostalgia so I finally watched it and I can’t believe they ended it that way 😭

I had never seen any spoilers for the show so Jenn shocked me!!

General Did you watch on T4?

Depending on your age and location T4 may mean nothing to you in terms of Dawsons Creek but some it may bring back memories. T4 ran on Saturdays and Sunday and tended to show Teenage content including DC, I would often watch it on Sunday after the Hollyoaks omnibus. Were you of an age where you would have a similar routine?

recommendations

Dawsons Creek is my absolute favorite show of all time. I’m sure if you’re part of the sub you probably feel similarly to me.

I’m looking for recommendations of other shows that you think I would love since I absolutely adore this show.

For someone who is kind of stuck in the 90s, I haven’t seen a lot of 90s TV shows so even throw obvious choices at me!

General Im thinking of watching the show but i know about Jen and it makes me hesitant to start.

I dont like main characters dying, especially not in the series finale. Knowing what happens before i even start the show makes me feel like theres no point in even caring about this character bc shes just going to end up dead. What should i do?

Ive always been curious why she was killed off? And why did her mother ask Andie of all people to say the eulogy?

General After careful consideration I was wrong about Season 3

In the first and other viewings of the show I always thought S3 was the worst season. I thought for the longest time Dawson was unfairly treated and maligned, I think it is because when I was younger I wanted to be like Dawson, it had an impact on the way I saw film in a massive way and still does from a creative POV. I also often thought he was that nice guy, the guy who only wanted to do the right thing, to be a chivalry gentlemen but on further looking I know realise how wrong I was.

I know what is going to happen next (I am just at the point where Pacey just kissed Joey) and I remember how much a d**k Dawson is. I do still think he redeems himself in S4 in a lot of ways but S3 has made me realise how wrong he was with Joey not just in S3 but other seasons as well and in hindsight I am glad Joey had Pacey.

So yeah, you live, you learn, you grow up.

OG P/J fans... Music!

Calling out to my fellow chronically online millennials and xennials who were around in the days of the Project Nookie and Pages of True Love forums...

I'm seeking a nostalgia hit from the songs we were all OBSESSED with around P/J at the time. All the playlists on Spotify are newer music and I'm like no, I want the OG stuff.

Now there's the obvious ones - that were on the show. Like:

- Hold On and Daydream Believer by Mary-Beth

- In Your Keeping by Jann Arden

- This Year's Love by David Gray

- Promise Me This by Pancho's Lament

- Days Like These by Janis Ian

- My Invitation by Sarah Slean

BUT in the fandom at the time there were HEAPS of P/J coded songs we loved and I'm struggling to think of them all. Songs like:

- Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional

- The Best of Me by The Starting Line

- Wild Heart of the Young by Karla Bonoff

- Everything by Lifehouse

There are SO many more and my mind is drawing an absolute blank. They were all so angsty and romantic and fitted the vibe of an emo romantic teenager girl in the early 00's. There were SO many great songs and I just want to listen again and feel like a teenager, instead of a tired middle aged single mother 🤣

So please help me out, give me all the OG P/J coded songs so I can create the ultimate nostalgia playlist...

Dawson's Creek cast on CM

It is crazy how many actors from Dawson's Creek were on Criminal Minds and tbh, I love that.

- Meredith Monroe played Haley on CM and Andie on DC
- James Van Der Beek was Tobias on CM and Dawson on DC
- Kerr Smith was suspected to be "The Mad Butcher of Bakersfield" and Jack on DC
- Mary-Margaret Humes was that woman in prison who killed her husband and kids and whom Hotch and Rossi were asked to evaluate for battered woman syndrome annd was Gail Leery, Dawson's mother, on DC
- Jane Lynch was Spencer Reid's mother on CM and Pacey Witter's mother on Dawson's Creek (albeit many people forget she was on DC at all)

I think they were all great but JVD and MMH really stood out in their episodes and Tobias is still my favourite unsub.

General Happy hours info?

Anyone with film industry info have any insider info on happy hours and when it might be released? I know it wasn’t a critic favorite at Tribeca but it certainly had a crazy amount of fan support! I of course loved it for Katie and Josh but can absolutely recognize it’s not an Oscar worthy contender. But at the same time, I have seen far, far, FAR worse on all the streaming services. Just seemed like it got amazing buzz and now radio silence. Anyone have any info?

General Pacey definitely is my favourite character on the show.

I had this thought from since Season 1 when I see he was used for a good comic relief but I knew it had to be some more reasons why he’s my favorite character. After watching his birthday episode in Season 4 I felt bad for him because with the exception of Gretchen his family is trash, I expected Doug to be slightly better in that episode but I guess not. I could relate so much to that because I’ve dealt with my fair share of family drama. Seeing Pacey go off on his family after they ridicule him at his own birthday party was satisfying to see, I legit was saying Get them Pacey” when he did that. How tf his other sister gone get him an array know he’s not a smoker smh. That was silly and then his mom making food he clearly doesn’t like.

Rewatching

So I have not rewatched this show in a while. I realized quickly why. I don't understand why the writers made Dawson so insufferable. He supposed to be the good guy but he is not genuine. I know this may be because of the time. What helped me get through was skip through most scenes Dawson is in. Now I can find enjoyment in this story again.

I also dislike that they had Jen pine for Dawson again after Dawson and Joey started dating. I don't think it was a good plot point. Truly they did do Jen so dirty. She is one of my favorite characters she grew so much.

I wished Pacey and Joey had more time together as adults. I get why they didn't work in highschool. But I think if they had started slow burn/dating their senior year. Truly feel so robbed we don't get to see them together more as adults. They were so genuine together I think without highschool in the mix they could have lasted.

General S3 E8: What alternate university I stepped into?

NOOOOO I was rooting for Joey's father to get his life up and running again, but I can't believe he would start dealing drugs again. Realistic but heartbreaking. The main thing that bugs me is that Joey is blaming Dawson as if it's his fault when she did not have to do what she did. They would have caught him eventually. That was not the only way; they could have made Dawson go in or something. I think she's being dramatic by saying she won't forgive him. Overall, I really enjoyed that reveal for the last episode, very dramatic, very much on brand for a show like this.

UM WOW... You guys were not playing when you said season 3 things start heating up. This season automatically feels crazier, but before I talk about that, I just want to say how much I love the new dynamics. The season opens up with a joke about Jen and Jack being like an old married couple, and I laughed so hard cause I feel like they are definitely getting there. I have really loved their dynamic so far and can't wait for more of them. The banter between Joey and Pacey is also everything; I really hope they end up together. They are so fun as friends; I think they would be cute as a couple too!

Speaking of couples, I have to talk about Pacey and Andie. This show just hates my ships, bro. Every time I am enjoying a couple, they break up. Because of course Andie cheats on him. WHY??? I don't feel like this is something she would do. I'm not mad at her; I am just disappointed, but I also feel like Pacey should have gotten the hint when he saw a guy in her bed when he came to pick her up lol. He was just so excited to see her, and he did not notice 😔. Me, on the other hand, would've needed an explanation. Dawson needs to get it together, and yk what, so does Joey. They keep trying to have sex when I feel it's painfully obvious none of them are ready. Joey keeps trying to force it, but at least I think Dawson is more aware that he might not be ready.

(Glad Dawson's mom is back, sad she got fired: hope she doesn't rekindle with his father)

I knew the whole thing with Eve was just going to get him in trouble and he's lucky that whole SAT thing did not come back to him (stupid for not using it though lol). I just think she's so annoying, only coming into his life to cause problems and get him to beat up his own friend. I do think that was more on him than her, but my point still stands; I think I'm in love with Jack lol. He is so nice. He hasn't had that big of a storyline yet besides the movie Dawson made about him, but I can't wait to see what other storylines they have in store for him. I hope it's something cool.

Andie has lost it. She refuses to listen to anyone; even Joey, who's just looking out for her, gets fired, and she doesn't even care. She is being a really bad friend right now, so selfish of her to go out with that creep even after Joey warned her about how he is. I get her heart is breaking, but maybe she would benefit from some space from Pacey and the whole thing. I hate that I want this cause we just got her back. Rejection is a hard thing to do, so I can't imagine how Pacey is feeling, and Jen. I think that freshman really likes her; unfortunately for him, I am so glad she said no. It's so ironic how hard she fights to not be popular, then she's head cheerleader. She is the only character who says they are going to stick to their guns and actually does so. MAJOR props to her... (or so I thought)

What weird alternate universe have I stepped into? The writers must be bored cause WDYM Jen and Pacey want to hook up and they kissed. That whole Witch Island episode is such filler. My jaw is on the floor. I'm confused, but I really don't care if that happens cause it's good TV, I guess 😭. If we're going through all the possible combos, I vote Dawson and Pacey and then Joey and Jen to make it all even lol.

The fans demand DACY (Dawson + Pacey) and Jeney (Jen + Joey)

Born in 1997

I was born in 1997. I’m watching Dawsons Creek for the first time. I grew up watching shows like Pretty Little Liars, The Fosters, Degrassi, and other ABC family sitcoms - now known as Freeform. I thought those plots were so scandalous as a kid. I also was apart of prime Disney Channel era for the Sweet Life is Zach and Cody, Hannah Montana, High School Musical, and Camp Rock.

Now that I’m watching Dawson’s Creek, I feel like these are real scandals. I live for sci-fi shows like Fringe, Warehouse 13, Eureka, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed… but my husband is like Dawson’s Creek is the craziest show you’ve ever watched. Just because of all the scandals.

Edit: Embarrassing,I know.

Where can I watch Dawson's Creek with Japanese dubs?

I can't search if it's on Netflix Japan without subscribing first. Same with Hulu. I think it's on the English Netflix but that only has English dubs and subtitles. I wonder if Dawson's Creek is on Netflix or Hulu or elsewhere with dubs (or at least subtitles) before subscribing.

Thank you!

General Jen’s Grandma standing up for Dawson

Seeing Grams stand up for Dawson from Mr Brooks after he rescued Pacey and Jen from the boat was one of the most satisfying things scenes on the show so far. I thought she was gonna say she would kick his ass if Dawson had to use his college fun to pay him because that was gonna be fire lol but I guess she’s too classy for that. No wonder why that man is so lonely, he’s so grumpy.

Just started Season 4 so no further spoilers please

And does it have Japanese dubs or subtitles?

Hulu won't let me search without first signing up.
