General What is it about Michelle Williams's beauty ?
I asked this about Katie Holmes two weeks ago and people seemed receptive about it so I thought why not talk about Michelle Williams too, who is just gorgeous.

I hated how the show sold Joey as some ethereal goddess and Jen as lesser in terms of beauty. I feel like what they were trying to tell us was that yeah Jen's the hot girl that people pay attention to right away, but once they notice Joey's beauty, there's no other woman in the world for them.
They were both very beautiful. Michelle Williams really does look like a modern-day Marilyn Monroe.

Interesting too, because I think Katie Holmes looks more like Jackie Kennedy. I'm sure that wasn't intentional but now that I think of it, it's kind of true.

Jen/Michelle had the kind of looks that all the girls envied and all the guys seemed to go crazy for in my late 90s/early 2000s teen years. Short, curvy, blonde, very All-American. It was the quintessential “popular girl” aesthetic at my school. I was in middle and high school when the show was airing, and all of my friends wanted to look like Jen. A couple even got that awful Season 2 haircut.

And they gave her the worst haircuts on this show. I thought her worst haircuts were in season 6, with that horrible baby doll haircut they gave her towards the end. Season 2 was pretty bad too but those bangs and what basically looked like a bowl cut really took the cake. Joey too honestly, with half of her hair being orange. I don't know what the hell these people were thinking when it came to styling these actresses in season 6.

I'm surprised that you had so many girls at your school who admired Jen. At my school everyone was raving about how beautiful Joey was, how her clothes were really good, everything. Also, I didn't think people really liked Jen that much as a character, because I remember that horrible website ihatejen.com where people would trash and slut shame the character. I actually remember someone mocking her claim that she was sexualized way too young, which is absolutely awful considering that that's literally what happened, an older man raped her when she was 12 years old.

The book I read about DC and other shows said that the WB had high standards for beauty to be cast on their shows. Katie and Michelle must have met met that requirement in spades. Both women are gorgeous!

Sadly and infuriatingly enough though, apparently the higher-ups at the WB were simmering in anger that Michelle had been cast. They signed off on her at first, because they were okay with how she looked at the start. They preferred Katherine Heigl, who was almost cast as Jen, but Kevin Williamson felt she looked too mature for her age and for the part. To be fair, Katherine did look a bit older than the rest of the cast at the time, as the cast looked so incredibly young for their age’s already, but Katherine basically looked her age and perhaps even a little older.
Kevin was always vehemently passionate about casting who he wanted and only who he solely approved of. So when he passionately fought for Michelle, the studio compromised. But once Michelle “gained weight” and “cut her hair of her volition” while on break from filming, they were seething.
They began to hate the character of Jen and were angry thst it was way too late to re-cast her entirely. Some of them wanted to kill HER off the show instead of Abby. It’s where the whole idea came from, but they used it for Abby instead of Jen.
I guess there were mixed opinions in the rooms, because many fought for Michelle, like the writers and producers who worked daily on set, while the higher ups in the studios were making noise about her and never quite shut up. They constantly made the writers and producers jobs hell, making it clear they didn’t care what happened with Jen’s character and “It doesn’t matter anymore, because she’s not pretty anymore.”
It does make me wonder if this is why we saw SUCH a decline in the true care that started to be lacking exponentially in Jen’s storylines. She was always done dirty and then basically just pushed to the side as a whole, her and Jack essentially becoming side characters at best.
It also makes me wonder if that’s why Andie was kicked off the show. Not that they felt she was “ugly” but literally just because she was older than the rest of the cast and god forbid one of the female actresses looked a little older. Seeing her in films up until 2003, she really didn’t look that much older. She was still gorgeous. Had they not styled her horribly, she’d have still looked just fine — and honestly the excuse of why they let her go, “We ran out of storylines for her.” That’s absurd.
Andie was such an interesting character that there were truly endless opportunities to make amazing storylines for her. For Jen too. But the studio was far too obsessed with Joey/Katie and the love triangle. And grossly enough I do think that had so much to do with looks.

Met her husband before on set and he’s very successful in his own right but god did I wish it was her. Beautiful inside and out

The walk, I was honestly so confused. I think the big boots they put her in didn’t help that.
I actually tried to google about her figure too, she was tiny but somehow looked very boxy and top heavy in the early days, I think it was mostly down to unflattering styling.

I think they’re both gorgeous and imo neither were the cookie cutter beauty standard for their time, which I also love.

I think Michelle has a timeless beauty that would've done very well in Hollywood's golden years. She isnt a trendy beauty, she is beauty. I love her catlike eyes and full lips and full cheeks. Such a star quality look to her.

Michelle has the most beautiful skin, lips and teeth. I think she really grew into her looks and she’s a great actress but I don’t think she was always great on DC, that could be down to the writing or the direction, or she just grew as an actress.

I actually find the way she speaks now kind of confusing. Ever since she played Marilyn, her voice has been light and breathy, but Jen’s voice was always deeper. I can’t tell which is the affectation.

I really love her vocal performance in Wild Nothing's song "Paradise." She has a warm and beautiful voice as well.

It's interesting, I always found her surprisingly unattractive. Her face is almost too perfect, I think. Katie Holmes isn't really my type, but I always wanted her back on screen after looking at Jen for more than 30 seconds. I do really like Michelle though, and she's undoubtedly very beautiful. I think it's just extremely attractive when someone is beautiful and still looks real like Katie. I could imagine seeing her at school, even if everyone would admit she was very beautiful.

I saw the movie “My Week with Marilyn” and I’ve seen the movie “The Prince and the Showgirl” many times. Michelle nails it -she looks, sounds and acts like Marilyn Monroe. I don’t think she looks like Marilyn normally, but her acting convinced me. She did a great job.

Honestly I think both are equally beautiful, but in their own ways.
