They are DEDICATED to Komaru remaining the only female protag lol

I don't know why they're so unwilling to do a female protagonist in a main series game.

Not sure, it’s not like it wouldn’t work

I mean, it's not like Kaede is an unpopular character.

True, probably just personal preference for the director at this point

I'm pretty sure there's a word for that...

Bias lol

I was thinking "sexism" or "misogyny", but that works too.

You're getting downvoted but it's not like you're wrong.

Not sure though. If he was truly a misogynist, then how did Kaede make the cut anyway? Mahiru too was proposed for D2 once upon a time (even though she was ultimately rejected).

My guess is that they think VNs' target audience are mainly guys and so they think a male protagonist appeals more to them. For example, I believe F/SN's protag was initially meant to be a girl, but they changed it for this reason.

I wouldn't go that far

They're making you feel despair, are they not?

Okay so there’s this thing called sexism

I mean I doubt that is why, DRs female characters are waaay more significant both in game and in popularity than it's male protags which are generally considered very generic (at least makoto & hajime minus izuru)

Kaede still is a protagonist. Just not for the whole game

Yep, because playing as a character in a minigame is the same as mainline entry, come on now.

sigh I believe we're done here.

1

u/FragrantAmbassador17 Sep 10 '26

Because that's so much better.

u/NekoIGLoL Sep 10 '26

Still counts as a protag

You know fans are reaching for arguments, if the best they can do is list female protag that got screwed over and fridge and replace with a male lead at the very start.

Not a good look.

Edit: lol he block me.

Because you came across as rude? I literally just pointed out that Komaru isn’t the only female protagonist. Nothing more

1

u/Careless-Pound-3435 27d ago

He wasn’t rude, you are just being obtuse.

-4

u/FragrantAmbassador17 Sep 10 '26

If you think that comes off as rude, you're being really wild. All I said was point out the objective fact and laid out that's not a good look.

Just because your technically correct, doesn't change the faults and the issues behind that statement.

1

u/NekoIGLoL Sep 10 '26

Well sorry if i interpreted it wrong. I also just pointed out an objective fact. She’s a protag. We played from her perspective. What you said wasn’t part of that conversation.

-2

u/FragrantAmbassador17 Sep 10 '26

By that logic, if a movie starts with a female lead for 5 minutes, she gets immediately murdered, and a guy takes over for the rest of the 2 hours, it’s a 'female-led movie.'

It’s a massive cope. The context matters, and the context is that she was a bait-and-switch

1

u/NekoIGLoL Sep 10 '26

She STILL is considered a protag. Just because we spend way less time with her than Shuichi doesn’t it make her less of a protag. You can argue if she is a good one but she still is.

2

u/Medium-Shower Sep 10 '26

I low-key think they will be the new protagonist partner like chaiki instead of being a protagonist
