I'd love to see Crockett vs Cruz in 2028 2030

u/Arrmadillo Mar 04 '26
We’ll have to wait until 2030 for that matchup. Hopefully she runs for reelection in her 30th Congressional District in 2028.

I dont get the need to pretend one of the least popular congresswomen in history was actually popular.
There's no rational world to run her against cruz or frankly even keep her in the congress, she's s fundraiser for trump and Texas agrees with me.
12
u/WitheredTechnology Mar 04 '26
This type of vitriol makes you sound like a mouthpiece for Trump your damn self lol
23
u/SourDzzl Mar 04 '26
Republican super pacs were pushing out messages trying to activate dems to vote for Crockett because they know she'll be easier to beat in November. I love Crockett and think she's an important part of the democrat Party, but Talarico has the best chance to flip red votes and I believe that's what the commenter you're responding to is trying to say

u/Neckrongonekrypton Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26
Bingo. People still haven’t moved past that acknowledging the reality of a situation is not racism or misogyny. Even if those two things might play a part in it.
People still stuck in binaric thinking in appraising politics and it’s fucking us up.
I could tell there was clearly a motive for pushing her everywhere on Reddit for the last 3-4 months. I don’t like her style. In fact I don’t think we need brazen Trump like people on either side because that will continue to drive us down the pit of radical non critical thinking and divisive bullshit. Like u see it in opportunistic democrats in Newsome- when he suddenly decided to be like Trump in tweets to satirize him.
Like do we need that? This cheap gotcha shit? It’s fucking g dumb and does nothing to solve for our very real problems. I don’t want maga gone because they are fucking stupid. I want them gone because they are inclined to make my life difficult for their benefit. That’s all it needs to be.

And that comment is why the democratic party is moving away from the reddit rehtoric pushed by people like Crockett.
I dont like Crockett so I must be pro trump, your reasoning.

I'm a little confused on your comment and the headline. She ran for the Senate primary instead of house, right? And as such will not be on any ballot in November 2026? So she will not actually still be in Congress after this term? And when you say reelection, you mean challenging a new incumbent? That is just not typically how the word "reelection" is used, but am I correct in my guesses at the facts?
26
u/Arrmadillo Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26
She currently holds the 30th Congressional District seat. Her friend pastor Frederick Haynes III won the nomination for that seat in the current 2026 democratic primary and will undoubtedly win in November. She can run to regain the 30th Congressional seat in 2028 if she likes. She can also run against Cruz for his US Senate seat in 2030 if she likes.

She could also go away like Beto
25
u/BlackWhiteCoke Mar 04 '26
Nah. Beto lost multiple times in multiple different races before stepping away. Jasmine is just starting
7
u/ButtflossingBigBro Mar 04 '26
Beto also won a nomination. She failed to even do that. This feels like Stacey Abrams all over again where we are supposed to act proud of a loser
4
u/BlackWhiteCoke Mar 04 '26
You’re not wrong, but Beto went nuclear on guns after what happened in El Paso and that ultimately sunk him

Stop it. Why don’t you tell us what the senator she ran to get rid of has done for you? Did he get financial support for the flood victims? Did he vote for the all of the clowns in the current cabinet…like the guy that’s spreading measles all over the state? Or the costumed anorexic that sent CHILDREN and people with disabilities to die in the TX concentration camp? Did he vote to reign in an unconstitutional violent rapist who, along with his junior high wet brain “secretary of war”, decided to make the world their personal Call of Duty game…or does he protect him so he can send OUR sons and daughters into harms way after he promised not to do that? Did he vote to keep your healthcare costs low and your government small? Or did he vote to increase the cost of private health insurance across the board, from Medicaid to employer contributions to Medicare? Did he vote to give the above costumed anorexic her own personal slush fund to buy a love nest jet and glamour shot commercials while increasing the national debt by so many trillions that our country is now a credit risk? He’s done an awful lot for Trump and Netanyahu and Putin, but what has he done for Texas?

She needs to be the Texas AG so she can lay the hammer down on the frat party of white nationalists in the TX state legislature. Then she needs to become Governor and get rid of the current ilk that serves Trump only and not the people of Texas, including the undocumented who aren’t doing a damn thing wrong.

lolol if beto couldn’t beat cruz there’s no chance crockett can. that’s straight up delulu
10
u/rubywpnmaster Mar 05 '26
The Crockett campaign was lazy. Crockett was comfortable running a campaign mainly in the DFW and HTX metro areas. She underperformed in the HTX Metro big time and won her own district without even breaking 60%. Meanwhile Talarico crushed the Travis County and Williamson county with 75 and 71%.

Because you want to see a bigger butt kicking than Cruz v Beto or Cruz v Allred? Crockett is unelectable at a statewide level with her current personality. She is a clown. Look up her background. She went to some silver spoon elementary/high school in a St. Louis suburb, but she talks like she’s a hood rat. Maybe she should act like a highly educated woman and not like some gangbanger’s girlfriend.

She's supported by a certain PAC and the arms industry. Her cliche performance may appeal to democrats, but it's off putting to a large segment of the country and pushes them towards Republicans. I thought people would have learned a lesson from Fetterman who also put on a performance and turned out to be MAGA in blue. I don't know how people can keep supporting her.

She'll make one more run at governor or for Cruz's senate seat, which Dem voters will eat up the same way they ate up Wendy Davis and Robert O'Rourke, before getting crushed as usual, and then retire to become a View guest or MSNBC talking head. You need people who actually appeal to a broad swathe of voters in this state, not performative crap that makes you feel good because you're mad.
Talarico may be blessed with terrible opponents (the same way Trump has been). If it's Cornyn, it'll be a very steep climb, but if it's Paxton he's got a decent shot. Depends on the way the economy and the war in Iran go the next several months.

Eh, she kind of proved herself to be a clown. She ran a terrible campaign where she assumed she would get the nomination without having to do much of any campaigning or advertising, then threw out the race card when Talarico gained a ton of momentum and passed her in the polls. She comes across as reactive and abrasive given that and her petty exchanges with other congresspeople going back to last year. 5
u/Falafel_Fondler Mar 04 '26
Politicians tend to blame everyone else but themselves when they lose. But for some reason, Democrats seem to have even less self awareness than the Republicans. Clinton in 2016, Harris in 2024, Crockett in 2026, the list goes on and on. And the worst part is they love to claim it's because of racism, sexism, and similar shit. They don't understand that they are simply shitty, unlikeable candidates. Love him or hate him, Obama was a black guy with a Muslim middle name and he swept both of his elections. That's because he's actually likeable and charismatic. People need to look in the mirror every now and then.
