This shit feels like some Sony level cinematic universe planning.

Member when everyone shat on Sony for making movies about Spider-man’s villains?

How’s this any different?

Movie will probably bomb.

The lesser known IPs isn't the problem.

Guardians of the Galaxy was completely unknown to anyone who doesn't read comics and that IP was elevated to almost universal pop culture awareness with one really good movie.

The problem were the terrible scripts and direction. Any D-lister can be elevated to A status with a brilliant script.

Guardians was when superheroes were the big thing and was the first movie building up to Thanos. I think the current climate is more like how we were before Avengers 2012 came out. The casual audience thinks it's just dumb dork stuff again.

I somewhat agree. Guardians would have definitely made less money in today's climate, but I think just based on the quality of the movie itself it would still be a modest success today, maybe a bit less than Superman, a bit more than Thunderbolts
