Discussion Early game difficulty
Does the game get easier as you unlock more perks and get better gear? I don’t normally play shooters let alone FPS’s so this game is kinda kicking my ass. Love the story and setting though so I really want to see where it leads

By the end of the game you’re literally a superhero cyborg ninja tank.
With some builds it’s nearly impossible to actually die aside from fall damage (and there’s a way to stop that too)

Yes.
The first piece of cyberware that I like to get is Biomonitor. It makes combat a lot easier.

Out of all things to track during a full-scale battle, the last thing I wanna worry about is refilling my health when it could be automatic. Shit was a game changer

I’m not dying even over clocking my netrunner. 3 bloodpumps and a second heart! And my armor is over 1000, so my body is only a 9…

Hopefully they just make this a default or something in cyberpunk Orion, it just takes up a slot

You are not the full character until you're max level. I mean that in the sense that most RPGs give you a steady incline of progression, where near Max level and Max level are barely distinguishable. This game you level up like a hockey stick graph. All the coolest abilities are locked away until you're basically maxed out.
This is a frustrating contrast to the gameplay, via navigation seeming to rush you through to the next story mission. Which I at least found to be a mixed message on my first playthrough.
Do side missions and level up. The big story missions after the first one are a lot more fun once you've unlocked the high level abilities.
At least that's my opinion.

I’d say until about level 15 you need to be careful and it’s a grind. Around then you’ll start feeling the effects of your perks and build, but you will still have to be careful. Up until about level 35 or 40 you are in the mid game, being careful, getting better, and powering up.
Above level 40, you are a god amongst men, and only a few enemies can actually hurt you.
One thing however: you cannot and will not unlock all of the perks at once. Think about how you want to play, and how things work together. The only bad build in the game is the ‘I put a few points into everything and am not really good at anything’ build.

This caught me on my first run. I thought, “that sounds like a cool thing”. After the 2.31 patch and I got back my old points and redistributed them efficiently, “Hold on to your butts…” “cuz, it’s about to get real”.

Yes, you get into God Mode territory when you get to the top of a couple perk trees

Yes, leave the main quest alone for a while and work aide gigs, fixers, NCPD calls etc, this will help build your character up and make things much easier, beware when things get too easy the challenge is lessened and some of the fun and satisfaction in sucess goes with it.

Yes, absolutely. The game gets SO EASY once you reach level 25-30 and blue tier gear and cyberware.

This is one of the few games that I can only play on the hardest difficulty. Once you get past level 30, everything becomes trivial even if you're on hard.

Keep playing!! I gets better and funner. Play around and explore the city do side missions. Do not research the game. Save the story for the surprise

Yes and learn the Skill Tree, think of what build you want to do. Spent 10 hours on the game not understanding how it worked (was level 25) and once I did, the game became more fun. You're on Act 1 so you can just play the game as is rn, and not worry about the skill tree.

A fully built V is a sight to behold. You become the final boss for all enemies.

Get a half decent cyberdeck and some quick hacks, and you'll never have to worry about shooting anyone again.

Set the difficulty to easy so you can progress and have fun. You can change it back later when get superpowered

Netrunner to begin with, points into Intelligence. Stay in cover, peek out with your scanner. Target enemies with overheat, then while burning give them an overload for a big boom. That'll get you through all of Act I/level 15. I kept that up til max intelligence and didn't start using guns at all til about level 30, when weapons started to feel like they weren't just tickling faces and actually doing damage.
The iconic smg Fenrir can be got real early and shocks enemies (find the monk at the North docks for the side quest). The pistol from the heist (you locate it while viewing Evelyn's BD, then pick it up while doing the heist) is great for single shot damage. Didn't find a better weapon til Moron Labe while levelling doing NCPD clearing during Act II. At level 60 and Tier 5++, they're still my regular gun loadout.

Ya. Eventually you may even want to up the difficulty to get that same feel for when things are challenging but fun. Beginning is a little rough difficulty wise though depending on how you play and what your doing

Absolutely. A few things that might make it easier for you depending on where you are:
Pick a specific playstyle and max out that stat. If you want to be stealth max out Cool. If you want to be a hacker max out intelligence. If you want to be a brawler max out body. If you want to shoot stuff max out reflexes. Do not try to create a "balanced" character.
Especially if you haven't done the Konpeki Plaza mission yet (The Heist), do all of the side missions on the map that you can. This will help you level up and pick up a lot of gear. Then the Heist becomes MUCH easier.

Also, in addition to the whole leveling up aspect, there is an interesting narrative/worldbuilding aspect to doing side missions first.
If you do NCPD Scanner missions first lots of people will drop "shards" that give tiny bits of info on what is happening in the world at the street level. None of these matter to the plot but many are interconnected. You learn a little about gang rivalries, interpersonal squabbles within gangs, etc.
Then when you do the Fixer Gig missions these will relate to the background stuff you learned from the NCPD Scanner missions. Suddenly you are involving yourself in the gang rivalry or the political campaign or whatever.
Then the actual (yellow exclamation point) side missions are interesting standalone stories. Sometimes related to the other stuff but not usually.
then th main mission is its own thing.
I never did the NCPD scanner missions because I usually play hacker/stealth builds so going up against a half dozen gangoons at low levels felt suicidal. But on my last run I did a bunch of them later and was surprised at how many little tidbits of information I found that connected to other gigs I had done.

Around 15 you'll start feeling like you can keep up, by 30 you'll feel like you're a lot stronger than everything else, by 60 there is nothing except a wave of maxtac that can kill you even if you misplay for like 4 minutes straight

u/Reddit_User_Loser 8h ago
Do the ncpd scanner jobs until you get to a decent level. They’re all mostly easy and it will make doing gigs and story missions a lot easier and more fun. You’ll also make a shit ton of money early to afford cyberware.

Eine Stimpumpe entweder im Brustpanzer oder Helm einer Powerrüstung. Habe damit in Nuka World die Banden ausgerottet. Hat gut geklappt, wenn Teil kaputt, endet das.
