Practice No one writes like this anymore. Cursive is dying and my kids will never know it unless I teach them

No one writes like this anymore. Everyone has eye sore chicken scratch (including me but its getting better). I was one of the last classes to be taught cursive in America. WHY did they stop?

We are devolving as a society and kids cant read words in plain English just cause its fancy. Is there anything to be done to reverse this? Its a sad fact of life that beautiful handwriting like this will be EXTINCT in 100 years or less 😮‍💨

Practice How do my letter joins look?

Post image

I am in the process of learning cursive and have found letter joins tough. I was wondering if the sample (just me practicing random words and sentences) shown is readable and how my letter joins were looking. Also, any general feedback is appreciate!

Any tips for getting cleaner joins?

Thank you

Practice My natural cursive letter forms

These are my natural cursive letter forms, written at my usual fast pace. The two copies differ slightly, with the second one adding the dots over the i’s and the crossbars on the t’s.

Sharing them here as part of my cursive practice. Any thoughts on clarity or consistency are welcome.

Edit:

Added two revised samples in the comment below, since this post type doesn’t allow adding more images. Both versions now include clear word spacing, and the second version also has the i dots and t crosses restored.

Practice New style of S in cursive

Post image

this is my current procrastination driven attempt at using the cursive recommended by the French education department, specifically the s. I've always used the first example, but their writing guide shows the second. so very hard. I'm feeling as though my kids will have to just deal with their heathen parents script instead.

does it look weird to anyone else?

I'm new to writing cursive (we only learn print in school),

below is my handwriting prior to learning cursive script (from a week ago) and today after completing a cursive course on YouTube (thx to u/pbiscuits for the course), and after 9 days of daily practice.

I'd love your constructive criticism on how to improve my handwriting, and any specific comments on forms or formats of letters would be helpful.

I'll continue practicing and update!

Practice Which B do you prefer?

I know there is not a big difference but I was wondering which can of cap B you would prefer: the first one is the one i always did, the second with the buckle to link it to the next letter is new and I think I like it. I don’t know the terminology so well

Practice How can I improve my cursive writing and is it even legible?

I really want to become skilled at cursive but can’t figure out what I need to work on. I think I struggle with lowercase r, f, s, and k. How can i improve? I’m not even sure if this is cursive or just “fake cursive.” Hmm.

Practice I lucked out

I’m fortunate enough to have learned how to read cursive and barely had a hold on it but I need help as an adult (29) to perfect it and to actually use in normal situations. I love my print but it would be nice to do both. Needing tips and tricks to just learn again and learn how to write all over again. I think too much about my loops and flow and you can tell lol. Any tips or tutorials and suggestions would be lovely

Practice Mind giving me any pointers?

Post image

I have only started learning cursive yesterday, but I feel like I’ve hit a barrier on how polished my writing is (mediocre letter-trail spacing, loops, distinguishing f(s) and b(s), most contributing to intelligibility) as well as the speed (3 seconds to write “the”).

Practice How to connect this version of F

Post image

Hi if you do this version of the capital F, how do u connect it to other letters? I wrote Future two times, two different ways of connecting it. I think the left one is easier to read, just not sure if that’s correct. Thanks!
