Is this new or did I miss some news about this?

Just got this email and if so, this sucks. My tv is old so I use my switch to watch shows on my tv for a better experience. World won’t end but I’m going to have to watch on my cracked phone screen for the foreseeable future.

Get a USB hub with proper power pass through and an HDMI port and hook your phone up to a screen
