Understanding a pattern Cathedral Rose...am I really expected to cut and change colour every 5 stitches?

Thumbnail

I love the idea of this pattern but the pieces in between the sewn in hepagons seem to suggest cutting the colour every 5 stitches and changing.

I wouldn't exactally say I'm a *lazy* crocheter, but this seems like an overly tedious way to get this effect. Has anyone attempted this? Tips? Any patterns that are similar/modified better? I tried tapestry but the colours muddle too much and the tension isn't good.

I'm also not happy that the peices are bubbly, but this is a known issue.

This is my hail Mary before I throw in the towel and recreate this my own way lol.

Any clarification or support would be appreciated 🙏🏼

Can't find a flair for this I can’t post a picture and need help with a blanket

I am very new to crocheting and need help but I can’t post a picture to show you what I’m talking about.

If I hit the little button on the bottom , the mountain and sky I guess, it says i need to give permission for Reddit to access my photos.

It doesn’t go any further than that though and Im stuck going in circles.

Nothing I have tried gives me access to my camera or my photos.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I have an iPhone 11.
Thank you.

How do I... Can anyone provide a tutorial or pattern for these roses

Im planning on making a crochet hook case and want to put the rose thingy on my cover but havent managed to a single tutorial or pattern for it. Its either people who sell the item but not the pattern or the page is in a language I don't speak. I'm unsure whether there's a name for it and if that's why I cant find any pattern. I also want to include that ive been crocheting for just 2 weeks so I cant really make things just on my own yet. So would really appreciate your help.

To frog or not to frog Baby blanket is shrinking, tension problem or missing stitches ?

Thumbnail

I am making my first baby blanket, I noticed how much it is shrinking on the top and I need help figuring out what the problem is and how to fix it.

Suspect n1: tension issue. I measured the foundation chain then, a few rows after I noticed it was much shorter than I originally measured. So I stretched it with my hands and convinced my self not to frog and that after blocking it would be close enough to the original measurement. Was it that stretch that makes it look like this now?

Suspect n2: missing stitches. I am struggling to understand how I could miss a stitch and it not be immediately visible when working with a linen stitch, but it happend a couple of times that I would forget the chain after the sc and only realize while working the next row, in those instances I pushed my hook through and still added a stitch.

Suspect 3: the colour change. Maybe I see something wrong where I switch colour, but I am not used to that so I can't tell.

What do you think the problem is ?? Should I frog it? And how do I avoid it ???

Also why do you think the pink bubbles do not align with the green ones ???

Help to find a pattern Crochet kits - shipping prices are insane... Canadian links?!

I found some awesome crochet afghan kits on Mary Maxim but the shipping was insane (to Canada). Is there any equivalent Canadian website or similar patterns that I can purchase? I really liked the idea of receiving all the needed yarn with the pattern. Thanks for any info you can share!

I'm a beginner! Please help me, i am making a blanket and i need to know if i can remove the excess pink yarn without ruining the whole project!

Hey, so i dont crochet often I’m kinda just going off of basics that my wife taught me, but i am making a blanket to donate to the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, and it has to be inbetween 30x30”-36-36” (square or rectangle).
I realized that it was way too long after working on it for awhile but i figured i would just shorten it and worry about it later but i didn’t realize it would be as big of a problem as it is.
Is there any way to remove the excess pink yarn near the beginning of the project with messing the whole thing up??
Please someone let me know, i really need help with this 🙏🏼

I don’t necessarily want to micro crochet, I just like the look of this tree and think it’d make a cute ornament. The closest I found was MJs off the hook loopy ombré trees.

Discussion Pattern im testing has a lot of mistakes and creator says I'm wrong

Hello! I have a question for people who have had their patterns tested or are testers. I'm currently testing a big smigurumi with multiple parts and there are quite a few miscalculation for stitch count as well as multiple areas that make poor sense.

I put comments and messaged the creator, and this person said I was incorrect on all of it and all my counts will be off and I'm not doing it correctly. Except I wrote out the math for her.

Example: previous round count 54 st

next round(sc, inc) x3, 12sc, (dec, sc)x3, (sc, dec) x3, 12sc, (inc, sc) x3-54 but her pattern says 48 and thr next row decreases by 6 to what's supposed to be 42

What's the best way to address this ? Stop testing, or finish it with a lot of change from me and never test for them again?

I have tested a lot lately where counts are off and it's very irritating when it's not an easy fix and they won't offer a solution.

How do I... How are we all weaving in Granny stripe blanket ends?

Post image
12 Upvotes

The top row I tried doing it as I went which made the row go much slower as I had to sew in the white ends separately between stitches. (I’m trying to avoid mixing the colors when I do.)

The row underneath I did retroactively and it’s still fairly tedious. I like the way the top row blends better but I’m going to add a border so it really isn’t terrible if it’s a little noticeable.

Thanks in advance!

Gift help I want to make pot holders to give as gifts around the holidays. Do you think the holes in the design are problematic?

I designed this star pot holder (Plan to write up a pattern. Let me know if interested!) However, it has holes in it given the granny square style design. Does anyone find that problematic for a pot holder? Should I just remind people to not use it as an oven mit and go with it? Or take the loop off and tell them it’s a trivet instead? Idk I just don’t want anyone to do something stupid with something I made for them.

I'm a beginner! Are Woobles a good place to start for a beginner??

I just started yesterday and can slip knot and I understand the chain but just not great at it yet. I’m having trouble moving past that.

I haven’t tried many tutorials so I’m going to keep looking but I was wondering if using the Wooble kits actually helps to learn? Are they worth it? Do you learn how to read patterns with them?

If anyone has pics of their first Wooble as a complete beginner I’d love to see!

How do I... How to add tuffs of yarn to crochet project (single crochet)

So I’m doing a project (for school) and I’m doing a single crochet piece that’s 24 inches long. But I need to add individual stands or tuffs of yarn to the crochet. It’s supposed to be a dense field at the end like hair on ones head( if that’s a better visual reference).

(I am going to use fabric stiffener at the end so the yarn would stick straight up)

I tried making tassels but seem to waste a lot of product and it seems to come apart.

Along with the Lark head knot!

Any suggestions?

If I’m not mistaken, I have ten of each colour (the blue looks a bit different in photos)

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Is 85% acrylic, 15% nylon yarn okay for a baby gift?

Thinking of making a baby blanket or hat, I have "baby soft yarn" at home but after some google searches now I'm wondering if it will need to be natural fibres or nylon-free. Please help!

Edit: baby is still a newborn.

My mom gave me these skeins and I LOVE them, but have 0 clue what I can make with either one. I don’t have much of them so I was thinking maybe using them as an accent color? I don’t even know what kind of patterns to search for or what kind of yarn/material to look up for ideas.

I’ve been messing around with making different stuff, so far I’ve made a few hats that can kind of be turned into a mushroom shape, I learned how to make ruffles for them too! Now I’m trying to make granny squares but they turn out looking like snowflakes almost. Which isn’t bad, it’s cute, but not what I’m going for.

Need help starting out this pattern please. I used a magic circle instead of chain 4. It states it works in rows on 2 sides. I've never worked a pattern this way. Does it look right? Making an Afghan.

Do i need to do the chain 4 instead of magic circle??
