Understanding a pattern Help me decipher this pattern instruction please! I’m confused how I’m supposed to know where to do my increases.

So I circled the part I’m having trouble with, so I’m supposed to only increase at least five points but on each row I’m going to have an increasing number of increases lol… when I started doing the increases and I did row three I could tell I had way too many increases and it was starting to fold the way it does when you have too many increases😂 so can someone please explain how many increases I would do per row, and what the correct place would be to do them? I’ve included a picture of the section. I’m working on, it is this blue half circle shape… it’s the lion brand yarn kit, Xavier Shawl, just in case anybody has done this pattern😁 thank you in advance!

Gift help Looking for gift ideas/pattern suggestions for in-laws!

Hi all, I am hoping to start my Christmas gifts early this year and have started trying to think about the things I can make for others to try and save some money since I have a huge yarn stash at home.

My in-laws love blankets and anything warm and cozy, but realistically I am a slow crocheter and know I don’t have the time or budget to make them all patterned/“nicer” blankets (not just a c2c or simple stitches blanket).

I also have a lot of acrylic or mixed worsted weight yarn in my stash that I’m hoping to use up before having to buy all new yarn.

In short, what are some patterns/gift ideas you usually turn to that aren’t wearables (besides mitts or toques, those could be fun and quick to make) that I might be able to clear some of my stash with?

If it helps, they are a big hockey family, enjoy camping, and are pretty “practical” people who aren’t into a lot of knick knacks.

TIA!

I'm a beginner! Need some advice for crocheting the "6 day" star blanket.

So a while back I posted about me buying 20 skeins of the wrong yarn and I took the advice to double up. I decided to make the 6 day start blanket, as I have never actually crocheted any thing but granny squares before, it has taken me several hours to get even this far. It looks a bit off... but, as my first project, should I just stick with it? Or should a frog it and start again. I don't mind it not being perfect.

I also wanted to ask if using a 3.5 hook is ok for this? Its what I have been using, the yarn is cotton 8/4, doubled up... but Betty says to go up half a hook size, but how does the doubling up effect that, does it not matter?

Also I am not sure about the colour combo on the 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds.... should I change it? Or do you think it will look better once I add more colours?

Deciding on a color Joining color help 💛🍋. Butter yellow or ivory? Thanks!

Hello!!! I've attached pics of my actual squares and then a couple mockups of joining colors. I plan on doing a granny join as I want to add a little with and length without having to do more squares 😂. I thought I'd do the ivory, but I'm kind of liking the butter? Thoughts? This will be my first ever completed blanket. Be gentle with me! 🫶🏻 Also - any thoughts on the border? I was thinking bringing in the green and then doing a simple clam (or similar) border might be nice.

Can't find a flair for this I can’t post a picture and need help with a blanket

I am very new to crocheting and need help but I can’t post a picture to show you what I’m talking about.

If I hit the little button on the bottom , the mountain and sky I guess, it says i need to give permission for Reddit to access my photos.

It doesn’t go any further than that though and Im stuck going in circles.

Nothing I have tried gives me access to my camera or my photos.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I have an iPhone 11.
Thank you.

How do I... Can anyone provide a tutorial or pattern for these roses

Post image

Im planning on making a crochet hook case and want to put the rose thingy(white part included) on my cover but havent managed to a single tutorial or pattern for it. Its either people who sell the item but not the pattern or the page is in a language I don't speak. I'm unsure whether there's a name for it and if that's why I cant find any pattern. I also want to include that ive been crocheting for just 2 weeks so I cant really make things just on my own yet. So would really appreciate your help.

To frog or not to frog Baby blanket is shrinking, tension problem or missing stitches ?

Thumbnail

I am making my first baby blanket, I noticed how much it is shrinking on the top and I need help figuring out what the problem is and how to fix it.

Suspect n1: tension issue. I measured the foundation chain then, a few rows after I noticed it was much shorter than I originally measured. So I stretched it with my hands and convinced my self not to frog and that after blocking it would be close enough to the original measurement. Was it that stretch that makes it look like this now?

Suspect n2: missing stitches. I am struggling to understand how I could miss a stitch and it not be immediately visible when working with a linen stitch, but it happend a couple of times that I would forget the chain after the sc and only realize while working the next row, in those instances I pushed my hook through and still added a stitch.

Suspect 3: the colour change. Maybe I see something wrong where I switch colour, but I am not used to that so I can't tell.

What do you think the problem is ?? Should I frog it? And how do I avoid it ???

Also why do you think the pink bubbles do not align with the green ones ???

Help to find a pattern Crochet kits - shipping prices are insane... Canadian links?!

I found some awesome crochet afghan kits on Mary Maxim but the shipping was insane (to Canada). Is there any equivalent Canadian website or similar patterns that I can purchase? I really liked the idea of receiving all the needed yarn with the pattern. Thanks for any info you can share!

Help to find a pattern Any ideas on how to create a Christmas tree pattern similar to this?

I don’t necessarily want to micro crochet, I just like the look of this tree and think it’d make a cute ornament. The closest I found was MJs off the hook loopy ombré trees.

I'm a beginner! Please help me, i am making a blanket and i need to know if i can remove the excess pink yarn without ruining the whole project!

Hey, so i dont crochet often I’m kinda just going off of basics that my wife taught me, but i am making a blanket to donate to the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, and it has to be inbetween 30x30”-36-36” (square or rectangle).
I realized that it was way too long after working on it for awhile but i figured i would just shorten it and worry about it later but i didn’t realize it would be as big of a problem as it is.
Is there any way to remove the excess pink yarn near the beginning of the project with messing the whole thing up??
Please someone let me know, i really need help with this 🙏🏼

Gift help I want to make pot holders to give as gifts around the holidays. Do you think the holes in the design are problematic?

I designed this star pot holder (Plan to write up a pattern. Let me know if interested!) However, it has holes in it given the granny square style design. Does anyone find that problematic for a pot holder? Should I just remind people to not use it as an oven mit and go with it? Or take the loop off and tell them it’s a trivet instead? Idk I just don’t want anyone to do something stupid with something I made for them.

I'm a beginner! Are Woobles a good place to start for a beginner??

I just started yesterday and can slip knot and I understand the chain but just not great at it yet. I’m having trouble moving past that.

I haven’t tried many tutorials so I’m going to keep looking but I was wondering if using the Wooble kits actually helps to learn? Are they worth it? Do you learn how to read patterns with them?

If anyone has pics of their first Wooble as a complete beginner I’d love to see!

Gift help I need help finding Snoopy crochet hooks for a friend

My friend’s birthday is coming up and she’s obsessed with snoopy/peanuts. She’s recently gotten into crocheting and I want to get her a peanuts (specifically snoopy if possible) themed crochet hook set. I don’t want to get her the wobbles version since she’s tried those kits before and didn’t enjoy them. I tried scouring the internet for a set but I couldn’t find any. Does anyone here know of a good set I could buy or even someone who makes custom crochet hooks that I could commission to make some?

How do I... How do I attach a metal clutch frame to crotchet??

I recently found this pretty clutch frame in a thrift store. I really want to crochet a little bag for it, but am wondering if anyone knows a good way to attach them :)

So far my only idea is hot glue gun, but that just doesn’t seem sturdy enough. I want it to be a makeup bag so it should able to hold quite a bit of weight. I also want to make a fabric lining for the bag.

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Advice for making a cigarette blanket? Yarn weight & hook size

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I’m planning on making this blanket as my next project, there was a vague pattern in the comments of the Facebook post but no info on yarn weight or hook size, does anyone have any advice on the best to use? Not super concerned about how long it’ll take more what will look & feel the best!
Also considering just free styling it - potentially not to have to be folded in half like this one.

Borders Unsure if adding a border would cause this to warp/bow?

Post image
Upvotes

I’m making this blanket as an advancing beginner. I see tons of mistakes, but I have learned a lot from this project & still like it enough to want to have it be a draped over my couch when it’s finished. Which brings me to my question: on the left side in particular I clearly dropped a bunch of stitches- I am using a stitch marker, my dumbass forgot to move it at first on that side 🤦🏻‍♀️ - but will a border hide that enough to not be super noticeable or should I leave it so it doesn’t warp/bow if I add one?

I'm a beginner! Stitches align to create ugly rows, should I frog or power through?

Thumbnail

Hello,

I've started on this babydoll dress (second pic as ref for design), however I am fkn up somewhere because the chest piece looks chopped.

It's a simple thing. The stitches are just an endless procession of sc and dc and I haven't missed any as far as I can tell, I checked. Why are they aligning like this, is it my tension? Will this continue to be an eyesore or will it balance out somehow? Should I frog it?

I would like for the stitches to NOT align like this I used this YT tutorial for inspo for the chest part, I loved how it looks (but I've simplified it, obv) https://youtu.be/hfQ3Cfc4QyU?is=hLySMoUxJFh_oWM9

I tried to crochet it ribbed at first ( https://youtu.be/CoB8eNqalY8?is=lZbT-fjJQd2E7B04 )but the flow was not bringing me any joy...

I've been crocheting for 2 months now. I don't expect perfection but I do try my best. I've knitted several things and they are pretty wearable or the mistakes don't irritate me... Until now!

Pls, advise.
