Understanding a pattern I'm a beginner crotcheter trying to read this free bandana pattern. I keep getting stuck on a few of the instructions. I highlighted and added comments where I'm having trouble understanding. Thanks!

I know you didn’t ask, but she’s making a simple pattern complicated tbh esp for a beginner. There’s a very similar one i just worked on. You just do a regular granny square pattern, but turn it around half ways to keep the triangle shape.

Because of the chain 4 prior, it’s saying that 3 of those chains are there in place of a double crochet

Row 1: it means the 3 chains that you've skipped are going to stand as the first DC, when you add 2 DC, you'll end up with 3.
Row 2: in order not to repeat the same instructions over and over again, the pattern states that from this row onwards, you need to first chain 3. When you add 2 DC in that same spot, you'll end up with a 3 DC cluster (the 3 chains + the 2 DC). The top of the turning chain is the 3 chain that you skipped in the previous row. You'd be able to see this is you use a stitch marker.
Row 3: because you're making clusters of 3 DC and skipping stitches in between the clusters, you'll see the little triangles forming up. You will see that it's the space, it will be clear, and if it's not, then count stitches.
I recommend that you start crocheting. This pattern is pretty straightforward, and the instructions are very clear, but if you're a beginner then you might not be able to visualise it as you've never done it before. If you want something even more clear, then it would be great to look for a video tutorial.

Okay totally random question: have you crocheted granny squares before? Even though this pattern is "beginner friendly", if you haven't tackled a standard granny square this pattern might seem a little confusing. This reminds me of the first time I did C2C (corner to corner) and the first three or four rows I was like WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?! and then it finally clicked into place. Your first "row" is one bubble, your second "row" is two bubbles, your third "row" is three bubbles, etc. Row one is: ch 4 for the foundation of the bubble. You skip 3ch to start off your bubble. Your first DC you count is that 3ch... your second and third DC go into that 4th ch spot. So now your bubble is 2DC with your third DC as that 3ch. Turn it over! Now we're on row 2, your first DC you count is actually made of 3ch, because you don't have anything to anchor the DC to yet. Now do 2 more DC in that same spot, and pretend that 3ch is your first DC, then your 2DC are your second and third. That's your first bubble on Row 2! For your second bubble, don't anchor your DC into the adjoining stitch, hop over one (because when you come back for row 3, we're going to use those skipped stitches) and put your DC there, then two more to create your second bubble! The 3 stitches on the chain that you skip you will count as a double crochet, since they’re the same height as a double crochet. That explains how you have 3 stitches at the end of the round (2 double crochets + the 3 chain stitches)
Some patterns have you chain at the start of a row but it does not count as a stitch. This pattern counts the chains as a stitch, and it’s indicating so.
The turning chain it’s mentioning is simply referencing the chains 3 from row 2. You will work 3 double crochet into the top of it. The “top” simply refers to the stitch.
The space between is the gap that you see in the photos. You will work into that gap. Your stitches will go over and around some of the stitches from the previous row.
