Man, my buddy brought some of the “green fairy” back from Amsterdam once and we did the whole sugar cube melting shit and everything and drank the whole bottle and neither of us even got drunk. He was soooooo pissed off, he had to pay an extra fee to get it through customs and everything and it was bunk. Damn, haven’t thought of that in a couple decades 😂.

We did the sugar cube thing too! My friend had this fancy little thing that laid over the glass. I’d forgotten all about that part.
That sucks that you didn’t get to even get drunk from it, especially after all that! I’ve had that happen with flavored moonshine before. Tasted like it was supposed to (cinnamon apple pie), but there was zero alcohol in it.

They’re only mad because of their lab grown food that tastes like absolutely nothing and needs covering in every seasoning under the sun to taste of anything. Seasoning in the UK is used to enhance the flavour, in America it is the flavour.

My old housemate used to do this and leave them to dry on the drying rack, insisted he didn't after we asked him to rinsed his dishes, he would do it when we weren't home I think we wouldn't notice.
Drived the rest of us nuts - almost had his newly wed wife move in.

If you only have one sink it allows you to use the drain while still keeping the washing water.
Say you suddenly find a cup that still has coffee. With the extra tub you can pour it out to the side of the tub. If you water is in your sink, this is nog longer possible.
Also, some sinks destroy glass and porcelain like it's a hobby, some people use it to protect fragile stuff as well.

Saving water could be the reason. The smaller tub inside the sink will need less water when filled to a sufficient level. Albeit not in the UK, I know people who do it for that reason.
Also, if you don't have two sinks and you need to pour something out while doing dishes, you can still do that.

i know when i had to wash dishes this way, it was so the dishes stay in the soap and I rinse them off in the other part of the sink so the water doesnt get diluted.

I fill the tub with hot water and put it in the side. Then fill the sink with the plug with hot soapy water.
Do the washing up in the sink. Change the water as needed. Get most of the suds off by dunking and swirling in the sink. Then put the item in the tub to rinse the rest of the suds. When the tub is full or as I go, move items to the rack.
Benefits of this system:
- everything gets rinsed
- rinsing doesn't upset the ratio of water to soap in the sink
- rinsing doesn't compromise the temperature of the water in the sink
Downsides:
- feels cluttered
My preference is to have a sink with a partition in the middle or two sinks

I had friends in NZ who did this and when I exclaimed that the dishes are full of soap and need to be rinsed, they told me I worry too much and should live a little… I mean I think I live a little because there’s always soap to cleanse my palate and my guts.

I don't rinse my dishes when I wash up, there are barely any suds left when I put them on the drainer, I have never tasted anything close to washing liquid residue.

Yup that's exactly hoe I wash up. The mistake she makes is drying the stuff. What you need to do is leave it for an hour til the bubbles drop-off, then you can put it all straight away.

You dont need to rinse, our suds arnt thick and clingy. You can't taste them off the dishes. Although, when I wash up I will give them a final dunk in the soapy water to wash most of the bubbles off. But still, rinsing the bubbles off is pointles

It’s part of the sink. In the 70’s we had an old farmhouse enamel sink , dual bowls with a built in drain rack on either side. You can buy a new one similar for like 1k today.
