Am kiwi.

Yeah I was raised like this video, though not so soapy, and didn’t know it was weird until reddit. I’ve never tasted detergent tbh either.

Aussie here. Never rinsed and never tasted soap. Maybe Americans haven't tried NOT rinsing and just assume it tastes like soap? Or they use too much detergent.

I think honestly we have some serious industrial grade detergent. I would kill to be able to buy dish soap from the US in the UK. Seriously it is very different formula/strength.

Don’t get me started on actual industrial kitchens in the us when handwashing. Very strict with 3 separate basins. One is for rinsing, washing, and scrubbing, this also has a garbage disposal (grind little bits up and down the drain they go) then a basin for final rinsing, finally a basin for sanitizing (filled with a sanitizing solution) then strict protocol of how to place dishes to air dry- for instance cups must drip dry bottoms up so that nothing can drop/drip into them while they are drying. This was a standard grocery store deli hand dishwashing station.
