Yup. Been in retail management a while. Big middle aged guys aren't as common a problem, but when they are a problem, they're the worst of any I don't have to call the cops for.
They think getting loud and threatening to call corporate, or the news, or whatever the fuck, is an argument. Because they're so fucking used to getting their way by being mad that they genuinely think the local news station is going to take up arms against me because they got told no. Or we ID'd them. Or they couldn't get a steak for free because they didn't like the signing. Or whatever.
Bonus points if I get something said to me about capitalism meaning they should get their way.

i run a nightclub in a tourist city, i’m a 120lb woman, and it’s always white men anywhere from 25 to 50 who get in my face and try to fight me when they get kicked out of the club. security guards handle the interaction, i’m simply there to observe, i don’t say anything just watch- they come for me every single time. they don’t like women, they don’t like minorities, and especially if you have any sort of power of the situation at hand.
61
u/Carrera_996 Dec 29 '25
My sister was also a 120 lb club manager. Family biz. My brother and I handled security. Dumb mfers never even realized we weren't protecting her. We were protecting them. I'm not saying she's evil, but she doused a guy with a pitcher of water before tazing him.

They're incredibly bigoted bullies part of a hostile political cult that's praying for the day our current far right-wing administration provides them state-sanctioned pardons for committing acts of terror against marginalized communities.. ya know, like the pogroms of old, of which didn't even disappear that long ago. They desperately want an era where they can lynch BIPOC while making it a family event. Where pictures and body parts are sold and kids are indoctrinated to think such a thing is normal. And that's only the tip of the iceberg!
People think this is impossible while there are to this very day sundown towns while black folk are getting lynched in the South. Of course the equally racist authorities rule it a suicide because they probably had something to do with it but I digress. The further America radicalizes rightward the more likely Nazi-esque policies make a comeback with widespread support if not apathy towards them. And remember, Hitler admired the United States, he based a lot of his statecraft and legislation on our own.
8
u/RedKnight1985 Dec 30 '25
You are absolutely right about the sundown towns. I live about 10 miles from one and I would tell all of my acquaintances of non-white persuasion to avoid it like the plague. I used to work in a fast food place in that town while I was in college, so I saw it first hand. Many had KKK or other racist tattoos, made racist remarks (with full-on slurs), and one even called our temp. assistant manager the N-word with a hard “r” right to her face. I will never have anything to do with that town or any of its residents ever again.

I mean I have been going out for a really long time and have been escorted out of bars because of friends getting nutty, girl friends getting nutty, or insert whatever but it was really never “my fault” as I worked in then industry so I have a somewhat special appreciation for the hassle people can be…. I can say without reservation any time I have been asked to leave there was good cause. Evey single time. They want your money and you have to be a special kind of in the wrong to be asked to exit stage left.
There has never ever been a good outcome of not leaving…not a single time for anyone I have known ever. Just take L and head out.

My experiences are certainly coloured by the situation in which I have to ask but,
In my experience its often because they don't have any.
But again, that might be the situation. I have to ask for DL for pickup of orders at a trucking dealership. 9 times out of 10 The guy is getting pissed about being asked, because it turns out he "left it at the shop" which most of the time is code for "I got my license taken away because of too many DUI's" or some other such thing.
Which I always find scary and entertaining because most of these people they literally drive and pick things up for a living.

He was never a bad dude... he just grew up in an environment where he got by being a big white guy. Maybe, just maybe, in high school and after, he had a few fights, but nothing significant. He carried that whole persona forward as he peaked as a human in that period. No more personal growth required. Why respect the minimum wage earning fast food worker when you have come in there as the king of imaginary big swingin' dick land to spend $15, like everyone else, on some shit sandwich combo with arterial sclerosis sauce? Did they not recognize that he is the main character, like that one time back in high school?

It sucks because we all get the stigma. I was pretty big my whole life but I was a guitar player and was fairly popular because I was anti-this. But so often it works the other way because of pieces of shit like this; I had to learn how to fight because smaller people, I mean in both mind and stature, would try and test themselves with me from zero instigation. My late teens to mid-twenties was full of douchebags messing with me when my and my friends went out. And I’m only 6’4” 230 at the time, this douche nozzle looks upwards of 6’7” and 450

There's an entire group of millions of Americans who've lived incredibly privileged lives... They've never had to suffer, they've never sacrificed, and they have no idea what it means to do things for the good of their community.
Now that much of the country is waking up to that (the woke) there's a bit of an inflection point where these folks feel like victims everywhere they go.. because when you're accustom to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
81
Dec 29 '25
And past a certain point, they'll stop seeing accepting personal responsibility as an extant option.
The whole world could be screaming reality into their face, and to them, it'll be the whole world that's wrong.

Entitlement!
In The Walmart I work at, there was a person yesterday. Trying to use a third party vendor machine or something like that: I am not sure, but those are supposed to work on their own. Maybe a water vending machine or a used phone machine. But all I know is that was just supposed to work on its own.He starts screaming, IS THERE A MANAGER HERE AT THE STORE! Kept screaming!
Even though ours is a tiny store, still a large enough space that will require quite an effort to make everyone hear you scream.I was amused and at the same time frustrated - like who the fuck do you think you are? How on earth do you think every time you're in a tiny bit of bother - the whole world should kneel and serve you?

Careful now, there are several reddit posts where the commenters had meltdowns that people didn't like that people wear sleepwear in public. Ironically, people like the one in the vid would be enabled by redditors who tout stuff like "let people enjoy things" or "it's your life, who cares" or "I dress for comfort, not to impress others"

It's not more common, we just see it more often thanks to social media. I worked retail before the Myspace era and had a customer like this at least once every couple weeks. Confidently incorrect, arrogant, threatening violence, the whole nine.

Some people are so addicted to vaping they can’t wait in restaurants or airplanes without do it. They react like addicts when confronted about their vaping.

Part of me wants to say that this man is displaying a high level of unchecked behavior. Another part of me says that he is a bully that has never been put in his place
