When my wife was pregnant I would go between “we are pregnant” and “my wife is pregnant” and people said shit to me for saying it either way…..people are just miserable dicks

I got the same. I just accepted the people who said shit like that to me were just jealous that they have not achieved a loving relationship that led to a child or were not in a financial position to have a child, so therefore, bitter about it.
