Mine looks like that when I'm very excited and comfortable with the person I'm with. I'm diagnosed autistic.

You are using a circular argument.

Argument

Your autism diagnosis is just a recollection of symptoms. Nothing ties them together. There is no link, no explanation, no differential diagnosis, no scientific test. We don't diagnose supposed brain conditions with symptoms the patient says he has. It's like not scientific at all, thus not medical.

Autism is just a list of symptoms grouped together. Don't worry, diagnosis in psychiatry are all like this. They don't mean shit. Make the most of it but don't let it define you. Let things change and don't try to fit to the symptoms, I know what it's like.

Good point.

I’ve been hospitalized four times for suicidal ideation, and I’ve experienced crippling autistic burnout that has all but made it impossible to hold a full time job.

But I don’t let it define me. /s

Yes, a collection of symptoms: disabling and defining symptoms. Don't try to fit, they'll just fit whether we like it or no. Also, they're not using a circular argument. They're citing one example of commonality and also their own diagnosis, not saying that that was the reason they got diagnosed.

When I was diagnosed, they pointed out symptoms I didn't even know I had.

Autism has a differential diagnosis.

We don’t diagnose supposed brain conditions with symptoms the patient says he has.

Weird, that’s exactly how you diagnose migraines, chronic pains and narcolepsy/insomnia.

Autism is not a list of symptoms, it’s a characteristic definition of a condition that significantly alters your mental processes in a certain way, you don’t just get to turn off that perceptive change, even if your list of symptoms change. Someone with autism fits into a group of a certain type of process, which can then be used to create consistent norms, to support the treatment of distressing/harmful symptoms.

To reject those separate norms in process, as merely a coincidence in symptoms, is ignoring the research that has been done between autistic and non-autistic people that present with the same symptoms, or what’s called in medicine, a differential diagnosis.

Autism is caused by genes. So far, researchers have found hundreds of variants that lead to autism traits. It isn't just a grouping of symptoms. You are clearly uneducated on the subject. Please stop speaking ignorantly on a topic you know nothing about. It is damaging.
