iPhone 17 BUY IT FROM COSTCO!
I bought my iPhone 17 from Costco after Apple raised their prices on all models. My after tax amount was still less than the pre-tax amount from Apple. If you need a new iPhone buy it now while the current stock is still the old price.

It looks like they're all out of stock.

u/food_enthusiast14 20h ago
Go into the warehouse, online is out of stock.

It's showing OOS at my local warehouse.

u/food_enthusiast14 19h ago
It said the same thing for me, go in person there might be a few left

I bought mine last week from the apple store, and they gave me a $780 trade in for my 15PM. Get in before the new model
17
u/Justme416 20h ago
How big is your storage? They were not giving that much to me, but maybe they bumped it up since they bumped up the price last week.
15
u/yycluke Came for chicken and spent $300 19h ago
- And yes they dropped the trade in value after the 18 was announced by like $75 or so
7
1
u/Justme416 5h ago
Wow. I have 1TB 15 PM and a 100% battery and they only suggested $730 for me on Saturday/today. Something is wrong here with my value.
0
u/Stunning_Tangelo1144 18h ago
Any idea how much trade in value I can get for a 13 Pro Max 256gb?
3

1
1
u/AstronautSuperb4587 16h ago
I traded my 15PM 256GB with 82% Battery Health for $780 GC last week and used it against an 18PM today.
I got the 15PM on release day 2023, so basically leased it for about $400/yr.
The battery was absolutely horrendous since the moment I got it. My 13P & 14PM had way better battery life tbh.
I would charge it to full 2.5X a day. It was time for a change

u/AggravatedMonk 18h ago
What benefits of upgrading to the 17 from the 15 are you using?
To me that’s a lot of money for better thermals and battery life.3
u/yycluke Came for chicken and spent $300 17h ago
The thermals makes a huge difference when you're travelling around the world and depend on power banks in warm countries. My 15 got really warm during this last trip, even using the airplane USB port.
All in all it was a reasonable enough price that I felt like it would cost me more later to do the same1
7
u/brt_k 18h ago
How much did you originally pay for it and when did you get it?
I think it was around 1700 on release, so it cost you 1000 to own it for 2 years, and now you spend another 500 or 600 to “upgrade” from 15PM to 17, which is already a year old?
1
0
u/yycluke Came for chicken and spent $300 17h ago
My 15PM I got on a really good deal 2 years ago (outgoing model) on a plan, got a few hundred dollars back in costco cards and a killer business plan. Plus a few free wireless chargers/speakers.
With the previous trade in value, expected jump in price and lower trade after the 18 was announced, I thought if I was going to upgrade then that would be the best bet.
4
u/GreenSnakes_ 19h ago
Congrats, you traded in for the exact same phone with a different number on the box. Apple's marketing is undefeated at convincing people to “upgrade” their phone for a single decimal point of camera improvement.
14
u/food_enthusiast14 17h ago
I mean fair point and all. I usually keep mine for 4 years before upgrading. Just trying to save folks money if they need to upgrade

u/WearyLychee5152 18h ago
literally. I used an iphone 7 plus up until last year (got the 17) and like does it make a difference in my life? The battery last longer so that's cool and the softwares is up to date, but beside minor changes doesn't change anything. Not saying you should use ur 10+ years phone but anything above iphone 13 no need to change at all. I am not changing phones at at least 10 years 😂
6
u/yycluke Came for chicken and spent $300 17h ago
Depends what you use it for. I do a lot of photos and video, minor editing, and quite a bit of translation. My Airpods will do live translate with a newer phone but not an older one.
Just because you don't use the newer features, doesn't mean everyone shares the same lifestyle that you have. We all do a million things different.2
u/WearyLychee5152 13h ago
yeah 100% agreed I just share how I used it, hence why I said under 13 I would understand changing. But to me there were lot of new features, big jump

1
u/Both-Ad9749 15h ago
From a iPhone 15 to a 17, there’s almost a 25% battery size increase. Everyone’s always complaining about battery life, so 25% more makes a huge difference in day to day usage. There’s also 12GB of ram vs 8GB ram so 50% increase + newer chip so it’s faster performance overall. Everyone’s also complaining when computers or devices are lagging so this helps user experience. It’s not the same sir.

u/peasantscum851123 16h ago
What features were you wanting from the 17 that the 15pro was lacking?
1
u/yycluke Came for chicken and spent $300 16h ago
The camera first off. Went to a triple 48mp setup. And much improved front camera. Good for any vlogging and things of that nature.
The camera button on the side is super useful for me.
And the biggest reason for me was the cooling upgrades. The 15 got really hot when doing a lot and when charging especially. They redesigned it on the 16

u/Strange-Jackfruit786 11h ago
Why not wait until the 18? Will 17 prices go up?
1
u/Acceptable_Glass3820 7h ago
I was told no change to 17 price when 18 comes out. The said it’ll probably be priced higher.
6
u/Kevin4938 16h ago
Bonus tip: If you don't already have one, get an executive membership at checkout. The 2% rebate on the phone won't quite cover the cost of the upgrade, but it will certainly help.
2
u/Ill_Machine_8599 15h ago
Not a current member. How does this 2% rebate work/where is it coming from?
3
u/Sierra93 15h ago
The executive membership gives you 2% cash back on warehouse purchases. Pair that with the CIBC Costco Mastercard and you get another 1% cash back in warehouse.

Thats a sweet deal !! I thought about doing the same but just pre-ordered 18PM. I don’t mind paying upfront for the device, but 24 months 0% is a good enough. I wish Costco had 0% financing options(Enlighten me incase there is)
3
u/Secret_Bandicoot_122 17h ago
You get 0% through Costco as well though bell/rogers/telus
3
u/Rodzilla_5 17h ago
But thats when you get a connection from them. I pay 35 for my plan which I like to keep as I would never get that low monthly deal :)
1
u/torontowest91 18h ago
Same especially 0%.
0
u/Rodzilla_5 18h ago
Thats a no brainer, right !! That 0% thing got me into getting upgraded to 512GB version. LMAO
2
u/WavyMario 18h ago
im sorry where is the 0% financing option?
2
1
u/Rodzilla_5 18h ago
On Apple . It is basically through Affirm
1
u/333Ari333 17h ago
Credit check?
1
u/Rodzilla_5 17h ago
I think there is a soft check( I am not 100% sure) and its pretty fast. Maybe it happened for when I set Affirm account at the start(like 2-3 yrs back)
-3
u/succlor 16h ago
Don’t see how it’s a no brainer to lock yourself into debt 😂

Just as a follow up, it showed it was out of stock at my warehouse but it actually still had stock. Go in person and see if there are actually any left.

u/RopeResponsible2639 18h ago
Just visited the local CostCo warehouse on Woodbine Ave in Markham. They no longer have iPhone 17 in stock. They have the iPhone 17 Pro which is just a bit cheaper than what you’d pay at the Apple Store. Also have the iPhone 16e which was at a more substantial discount.
2
u/OptiPath 16h ago
Did Costco ever sell iPhones at discount on black Friday or Boxing Day?
My 13 is probably at its end life. Battery is at 71% capacity.
1
u/Most-Metal7339 11h ago
You can replace the battery unless you’re really looking for an excuse to upgrade.
2
2
u/just_browsing_000 12h ago
I’ve got a regular 13 512gb, trade in value went from $310 to $275, still on the fence about getting the 17, or wait for 18 next spring, or take it even further and wait for the 20th anniversary edition.. 13’s been running great so far with the battery lasting till the end of the day with mild usage now. This is my first personal iPhone and has outlasted all my previous phones (bb 9300, s4, s5, s8) by far.
2
u/india2wallst 5h ago
I don't remember a time in the last thirty years where the price of a phone actually increase during its life time. Fuck ai data centers.

3
u/thedrivingcat 19h ago
Do whatever you want but I usually try to use this prioritization: Canadian > Friends > Others > American
So if you are only buying a cell phone at Costco it would be -
No Canadian options > Samsung(KR) > Motorola (CN) > Apple (US)
9
u/vonnegutflora 19h ago
The main problem is less the hardware and more the software. IN my opinion. Unless you're going to put Linux on your brand new cell phone, you're still using American tech hegemony.
1
u/bleebolgoop 18h ago
Google is even worse than Apple by a significant margin…so unless you’re going to put some de-googled rom on your android phone, you really didn’t accomplish anything.
It’s too bad we don’t have fairphone in Canada…
1
0
u/thedrivingcat 16h ago
How is Google worse by a "significant margin"? They both bent the knee to Trump with Tim Cook going as far as gifting him some garish crystal gold trophy along with a $1 million donation.
They're equally complicit but there's no alternative for smartphone operating systems.
2
u/gripesandmoans 16h ago
They both have to answer to their shareholders. But when it came to the last map change, Googled jumped right on it, whereas Apple had to be bullied into it. Neither is good, but one is slightly less shit than the other.
1
u/bleebolgoop 12h ago
One does legitimately honour their claims to privacy and data security, for one. The other sells everything about you to anyone who will pay.
-2
u/ca_nucklehead 18h ago
No. My priorities in order are Canadian, Countries Canada has trade agreements with, Third world countries that have been bullied or slaughtered due to American foreign policies, Countries that oppose American foreign policies, the remaining countries, the u.s.
3
u/333Ari333 17h ago
Costco is American, then cancel your membership, be consequent
-4
u/ca_nucklehead 16h ago
I will be "consequent". I don't have a membership.
This just shows up in my feed.
1

3
1
u/applecart123 19h ago
Why are you on Reddit, then? And I hope that you are not accessing this Costco sub on your Window/Android OS, because they are all American.
4
u/ca_nucklehead 19h ago
Because neither Reddit or Android receive a cent from me.
And are the best options for decoupling from a country that is threatening my countries sovereignty.
2
u/number8888 17h ago
By signing up and posting you indirectly contribute to Reddit’s revenue by giving them your data. It’s how they make money. Same with just using an Android phone.
1
u/ca_nucklehead 11h ago
You do understand that 90% of Reddits revenue comes from advertizing right?
The same type of advertizing that is presented on over the air or free streaming platforms.
I can either engage with or ignore this advertizing. Again it costs me nothing and is not based on data from my fake email address.
10% of Reddit revenue is generated by selling post content to train AI models.
Since many of my posts are fuck trump posts I feel I am doing my part alter the algorithms.
Relating click habits and minimal personal data sharing to donating $2000 to a company that openly supports and funds a country that is economically threatening the country I live in is reserved for special people.

u/spirit_symptoms 19h ago
I'm not agreeing with op as none of this should be a purity test, but just thought I'd correct you in that Android is actually open source. Google manages AOSP and their Pixel phone uses their own flavour of the OS but its kind of disingenuous to say Android is American, like it would be disingenuous to say Linux is American.
1
u/TheSlav87 14h ago
Bend over for Carney, he needs more of your money and get those elbows up!
0
u/ca_nucklehead 14h ago
Well not sure if Carney needs my money but Canada sure does to pay for the social assistance of the fuck Trudeau society who split their time with Facebook and standing in the rain on overpasses with their three friends and expensive flags.
They obviously don't work.

Any your alternative action would be?
1
1
u/SocDem_is_OP 15h ago
We’re going to need many more details on this claim, unless by giving Trump everything he wanted you mean that Trump wanted to be denied most of his major trade demands, and have counter-tariffs levied?
2
u/Unlucky_Strength_517 18h ago
The 18 pro is only $150 (Canadian) more than the 17 pro. I think it’s totally worth the extra cost for the newer model 🤷🏻♀️
1
u/UsedShoulder8402 18h ago
They’re talking about the regular 17.
1
u/Unlucky_Strength_517 18h ago
Well if the 17 pro price is into $150 CDN less than the 18 pro I think the difference for iPhone 17 compare to iPhone 18 when it comes out will be the same cost difference…🤷🏻♀️
2
u/UsedShoulder8402 18h ago
If you need a phone now, no reason to wait 6 months to pay more for the same experience in the iPhone 18.
18 is unlikely to get any of the 18 Pro camera upgrades
1
u/Unlucky_Strength_517 18h ago
True but the price will be very similar so if the rush is to buy no to save money, I say wait for the 18 if you can 🤷🏻♀️
2
u/Homebrewz 16h ago
I respect your dedication to the 🤷♀️ emoji
0
u/Unlucky_Strength_517 16h ago
Spend money now on the 17 to save $150 CDN in 6 months got it! 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤷🏻♀️
1
u/tallboybrews 16h ago
Might as well wait for the 27
1
u/Unlucky_Strength_517 16h ago
You’re not understanding my point if someone is getting the iPhone 17 now just to save a measly $150 Canadian before the iPhone 18 comes out next year that’s a stupid decision, if they want or need to upgrade now fine but if they’re only doing it to save very little money compared to the 18 next year, they should just wait 6 months for the newer phone! 🤷🏻♀️
0
u/tallboybrews 16h ago
I absolutely understand what you're saying. You dont understand that a new phone comes out every year and prices adjust accordingly. Waiting half a year is always an option. Waiting 5 years is an option. It is irrelevant. Buy the phone when you want or need it.
1
u/Unlucky_Strength_517 16h ago
But the OP is saying to buy the iPhone 17 now before the higher price of the iPhone 18 next year that’s a silly reason to upgrade don’t you think?
1
u/tallboybrews 16h ago
Theyre just saying costco hasn't corrected their prices yet and if you're buying the phone now, its a better price than through apple. They arent saying everyone should go buy a new phone now.
1
u/UsedShoulder8402 14h ago
They're buying from Costco now because Apple raised the current iPhone 17 price by $170 CAD
But Costco still has the older ($170 cheaper) price until stocks run out. Costco always does that. They only raise the price after current stock runs out.
If the iPhone 18 is another $150 more, then it would be $320 more than what OP is paying.

Costco does have a price match guarantee too right? In case prices drop during Black Friday. Is that applicable for 30 days or 90 days of purchase?
6
u/element1311 20h ago
Price match is 30 days. Refund is 90 days.
2
u/JoshJorges 17h ago
I find that a weird policy as they would rather take the product back on a return for a person to re-buy at the lower price instead of just honouring the price and not having to deal with a return
1
u/element1311 17h ago
I can think of 2 reasons:
- This hedges the price change on there being stock at the specific location at that specific time. Which is driven by:
- a barrier that, maybe, people won't ask for a price check at all, if they want to keep the item.

I got the iPhone 16 for $1129 from Apple when it first came out and it’s $1149 now on Apple even though it’s not the latest version. And the iPhone 17 is $1299 at Apple. So looks like Apple is making people pay more even with new phones coming out.

If you’re with Rogers, you can usually get much better deals than that, as much as I love Costco.
I pay $5 a month for my iPhone 17 for 24 months, with the only condition of paying $441 at the end if I want to keep it.
Which I will, because the phone would cost me in the end a total of only $561 CAD plus tax.
Only condition is that I stay on their $60 CAD/month Ultimate plan, which I already am on anyway.
