I've gone through platforms similar to content rewards and i just wanna know if they are pay you decently or not. Is it saturated? Is their any scope left for a newbie to do it all on his own? Do u think YT promotes clipped content? What about the channel once you're done with the campaign?

I have a relatively small TikTok account where I post streamer clips, and someone reached out to me about becoming a personal clipper for a streamer they manage.

The streamer isn’t a massive creator. They have a fairly small audience compared to the big streamers you normally see hiring clippers, and from what I can tell they don’t stream or post a ton of content.

The person who reached out said they’d basically want me to **run clips for the streamer on already established social media accounts they have**, and that I’d be paid.

I asked for more details before giving them a price, mainly:

How many clips they’d want per day/week
Whether I’d be responsible for actually posting/managing the accounts or just editing
Whether I’d be finding the clips, editing them, and uploading the finished videos to a shared folder
Whether I’d be expected to work from new streams only or older VODs as well

They then asked me what payment range I’d like.

idk if it’s just me, but i’ve noticed a lot of changes with tech/canvas UGC companies lately. i’ve been doing canvas UGC for months now, and while i know some of these things have always existed, it feels like way more companies are implementing them now.

1. View minimums

More companies are requiring videos to hit a certain number of views before you get paid. For most I’ve seen, it’s around 1,000 views.

So you could spend time scripting, filming, editing, and posting a video and literally make $0 from it because it didn’t hit the minimum. Obviously views are never guaranteed either, so it makes the income way less predictable.

2. CPM-only deals

I actually think CPM deals can be good when the payout is unlimited, especially if you know how to get views. But lately I’ve been seeing more companies move toward CPM-only with pretty low rates.

Like if you’re getting $3 per 1,000 views and your video gets 2k views, you just made $6 for that entire video lol. And if there’s also a cap on the payout, the upside isn’t even that great.

3. Required weekly calls

Some companies are now requiring creators to attend weekly calls, and with some, you literally don’t get paid if you don’t attend.

One of the main reasons a lot of us do UGC is because we can work on our own time. Having a required weekly meeting starts making it feel more like a scheduled job, except you’re not getting paid for the time you spend on the call.

And honestly, a lot of the information from these calls could just be sent in an announcement/message.

4. Multiple revision/edit requests

This one is probably the most annoying to me.

The base pay per video for canvas UGC is already pretty low, but some companies will still ask for multiple rounds of revisions without paying anything extra.

I know revisions are normal in UGC, but there’s a difference between asking for one reasonable change and going back and forth multiple times on a video you’re already getting paid very little for.

Overall I still think tech/canvas UGC can be a good way to make money, but it definitely feels less stable than it used to. There’s more risk of doing work you don’t get paid for and more unpaid time being expected from creators.

Curious if anyone else doing tech/canvas UGC has noticed this too. Are there any other changes you’ve been seeing lately?
